"Zeitgeist" is a german word which means the spirit of the age - "the spirit (geist) of our time (zeit)", "l'air du temps" in French.
Nowadays, this expression is mainly associated with german philosophers Herder and Hegel but it's used in different languages - english, spanish, japanese,...
Even if it's hard to put in a nutshell, we can see the "Zeitgeist" as a state of mind, a vision of the world shared by people during the same period of time inspite of their differences (age,gender, social status,...)

A common feeling inherent to one time.

It seems that this idea is very important now more than ever since globalization has been made real - since the future will be considered worldwidely or won't probably be. Then what is the other part of the world thinking ? What do people like nowadays ? What are they really interested into ? What moves them ? What do they believe in ? What makes them so different from me ? What makes me so different from you ? Are we part of the Zeitgeist ?

So many questions remain when we're dealing with the world.
Of course, there are political, economical and ecological issues, but it's also a matter of individuals - our vision of the Other, our "open-mindedness" towards him. How to understand a different country ? a different culture ? a different religion ? And is it possible to share the same worldview with different people from around the world ?

What is the link between the people, the world and our time ?
What is the Zeitgeist ?
