I was staying in Washington DC for the month of July in 1996. Mellon Collie was huge and I had taped all of my Pumpkins CD's for the plane ride out. I wandered the city seeing the sites blasting the Zero EP and Mellon Collie mainly. I get back to the apartment to find a ticket to US Air Arena for the upcoming July concert on the Mellon Collie tour. I nearly passed out. The show was in Maryland and it was one of the most memorable nights I ever had...and sadly if I remeber correctly, was the 2nd to the last show of the origional lineup. (due to the passing of John Melvoin.) I was crushed to hear of the tradgedy. By the time I got home though the band already had gotten back on its feet, and just in time for the January Seattle show. It was just as awesome as the US Air show. Those ticket stubs are kept (much like a holy grail) safely in my copy of Mellon Collie. I will never forget those shows. The only times I was ever able to see the band live. (But I will do whatever it takes to see them this time around
