I know that Pulp is not a Pumpkin matter but the last two days have been extraordinary for me. Jarvis Cocker (Pulp's frontman) came to Chile to make a concert because of his solo album and also to present some new songs from his next record. Everything's normal till there, here's the WOW! factor: Last friday I met Jarvis Cocker and Steve Mackey (Pulp's bass player), I took a picture with them and they sign my "His 'n' Hers" album. Jarvis asks my name and when I tell him, he spell it out with his hardcore-porn-star voice.
Me and some amazing people I met there waiting in the hotel, collect some money to buy to Jarvis some good bottles of chilean wine (our pride and joy
) and for the day of the concert (saturday), next to the drums it was a glass of red wine and Jarvis say thanks to the people who gave him the bottles of wine the day before. He was a complete gentleman
Steve... What a nice guy! The way we met him was a complete accident, a good one. We were outside the hotel, discussing if Steve would be here or not, when suddenly some tall - very tall - guy with grey hair came out the hotel and one of us said 'hey! Is he Steve?'.
- Hablando del rey de Roma, él se asoma - I said. Well, that's classic saying of my country that we use to say when you are talking about someone and suddenly that person shows up.
God! My heart was beating really fast, I was SO nervious, I mean, I listen to this guy since I was 11, now I'm 22 and he's just in front of me with a big smile. My best friend was with me, shaking, Pulp is to her what Smashing Pumpkins is to me, so she couldn't even hold the camera.
He said while he was signing my "His 'n' Hers" that he didn't know that they have fans in Chile (or something like that). I must say this: that's the typical frase of any artist that came to this country. Why is so hard to believe that we listen good music?
- You have no idea how many we are - I said to him. He smiles for that. That's priceless
Next day, I woke up and the first thing I though was 'what a great dream I had!'. But I was a little doubtful about that dream. That always happen to me, so I check out if there's any evidence that could shows the truthfulness of the dream, so I went directly to my cd collection to the letter 'P' (my cd's are in alphabetical/chronological order, otherwise I'll never find out the one I want). I took my "His 'n' Hers" and there it was: to the left corner was Jarvis's sign and to the right was Steve's sign. Holy crap, holy crap!!!
Then I went to my laptop and in my wallpaper was a picture of me with Jarvis Cocker (No Photoshop, I swear!).
You know, I always have this kind of dreams and when I woke up are never real. This one was the exception and I'm SO F***ING HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!
I have the little hope that someday I will dream with SP and everything on the dream were true...
PS: Lookin' for evidence?

Fuerza Sudamerican Rockers, van a venir...

Excuse me, I am the Anti-Valentine...

Yesterday, I was in the row to pay in the supermarket and suddenly I began to staring to the people and they were all buying flowers, heart-shaped cards, chocolates and candles, while there was me, buying cat food and ten packages of 'Sopa Para Uno' (Translation: Soup for One). For when I came up to pay, the cashier looked at me with a face of pity like "poor dear".
If I would excuse myself, telling her "I was out of cat food and I'm too lazy and too clumsy to cook asparagus soup" she would not believed me and that was the truth. And even if she asked me if I had someone to be in Valentine's day I would answer her "No, I haven't because I don't want to and I'm actually HAPPY with my loneliness right now", she REALLY would not buy that, even when it IS the true. Actually, if I would excuse myself, that could sounds even desperate, but I'm not and I know that she would not believe me at all (probably YOU don't believe either). I don't have to excuse myself for what I am then, now or never.
I paid my purchases in silence, took my bags with my cat food and my soup for one - soup for me and ONLY for ME - and I left the supermarket. I hate those awkward situations!

New Year's Eve
Sunday, December 30, 2007 - 1:06 am -
FaithLiesInTheWaysOfSin
When I was a child, I mean like 4 years old, I was afraid of new year's eve. I know , it sounds stupid, but imagine a girl living in a house full of adults acting weird (call it jumping, dancing, you know, all that stuff that the people do when they're happy), no child around, the radio on where an idiot was yelling as if it was the end of the world "IT COMES, IT COMES THE NEW YEAR, stays less and less and now the countdown comes: 30, 29, 28 ... 3, 2, 1, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!" and then, of course, sounds the national anthem of Chile, for my taste, the worst song EVER. Already an hour before of the new year I was crying for the fear.
Well, that was a small summary of my beginnings of the hatred to new year's eve.
Obviously already I'm not afraid to new year's eve, but it's without doubts one of the dates of the year that I hate the most. I believe it is an overvalued date and it's nothing but another excuse to get drunk and die on a car accident.
Years ago I created a kind of ritual to receive the new year: choose a song that I like much to listen in the moment of chaos between the eve and passed the first minutes of the new year.
The first time that I tried that ritual was to wait the year 2001. I remember I chose "Mayonaise" and I synchronized it in my discman in order that to the 00:00 hours of the new year could sounds the louder part of the song. I believe, to the date, that one was the best year of my life: I met my best friends, I knew which people I could trust and which ones I could not, I discovered what I want to do with my life, I knew that I wasn't the only weirdo in the world: we are a lot and we're kickin', I knew the silence of the world (nope, that was a joke. It's just that all that "I knew..." sh*t sounds like "Muzzle"
) and finally and I believe it's important to say, I met the love of my life in the real world, because in my dream world would be Billy and as much weird as it sounds, both worlds were not so far as it should be because I met her (yes, is a she and yes, I'm gay but Billy is the only man I love) because Smashing Pumpkins, the funny thing is that in that moment I didn't know I was lesbian, the only thing I knew is that she was pretty, funny, REALLY clever, the sweetest person I've ever met and that she likes (still) The Smashing Pumpkins.
Well that's it. I still without know which song to choose this time. Any suggestions?
I hope all of you, pumpkinheads, have a great new year. Rock On!

Nunca me llegó dicho regalo

For all the bitter ones...

I believe in this site they're only women, I mean, for every Billy's picture there's a thousand women saying how cute he is. This is worse than a bachelorette party and... I LOVE IT!
We all love and respect Smashing Pumpkins, in my case, more than the half of my life, but also must of us believe that Billy is sucha pretty guy and if I ever have the luck to meet him I would treat him with the respect that he deserves...
Well, that was for all the bitter ones who hate us. I would like to say more but I started to put myself boring and my clumsy english don't help me either, so let me finish saying if you love SP, don't hate us, only listen to their music and love it and don't worry for us because we will be doing the same...
PS: Billy IS cute!

"Concerts-proof body"
Friday, November 2, 2007 - 12:04 am -
FaithLiesInTheWaysOfSin
I miss concerts! In South America concert are not as frequent as in United States, Europe or even Mexico. For a band, must be really hard come to places like Brazil or Argentina and in places like Uruguay or Peru they don't even occurs to go.
Acually here, in Chile, artist don't came because of the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet, except for some bands who came to the Festival de Viña del Mar, out of it, the international music scene here was nule. The first band who came after the fall of the dictatorship was a HUGE concert of Rod Stewart on 1989, I believe (I was like 3 or 4 years old). My father still have the VCR of the concert from those times.
When a music band comes once to Chile, it's good. When comes twice it's like 'WOW!'. Three times: too good to be truth. Four times: never happened, I think, maybe Iron Maiden did that, I don't know, metal guys are like 'in love' with Chile...
The first and ONLY time when Smashing Pumpkins came to Chile was on august of 1998. I did not even have 13 years old and concerts in Chile are pretty wild, for not said medieval and for a skinny little girl who don't have any idea of which bus must to take to go to Estación Mapocho (place of the concert) was too much, at least that was what my VERY over-protector mother said when I told her about the Pumpkins's concert.
One thing is a U2 concert - my first concert, on february of the same year - where I was sat in a safe place with my very big brother, my very big brother's best friend - who's like Billy Corgan's height - and my father (another big guy), but a Smashing Pumpkins's concert, running the risk that they could play Bullet With Butterfly Wings (they did and it was MAD), NO WAY!
Now people are talking about a Smashing Pumpkins concert in Chile for December 6th, specially the guys from SPIFC, but with Jimmy's illness, I'll see it hard. Well, maybe next year...
Though the years, more bands came to Chile, not all of them of my taste and after that U2 concert the following ones on my concert's list were:
2000
- Lou Reed
2004
- The Mars Volta
- PJ Harvey
- Morrissey
2005
- Placebo
- The White Stripes
- Mudhoney
- Pearl Jam
2006
- Franz Ferdinand
- U2 (yes, again)
- Oasis
2007
- Pet Shop Boys
Comming ones:
November 4th: Travis, Starsailor and The Killers.
November 10th: Björk
December 15th: Dominique A
Maybe ones:
December 5th: Beck and The Police
December ?th: The Dandy Warhols and Chris Cornell.
Yes, Chile, a long and vast strip of land has been invaded of concerts, specially this last 6 months and the hard thing is that most of them I got tickets to go. My friends ask me how my body can bear all those concerts and I say that the people on Europe or US have more concerts that in Chile or whole South America, and they're still alive. They answer me that on those place are more civilizated than in Chile.
- Well, I might have a concerts-proof body - I said. And if I don't, remember that I want Smashing Pumpkin's 'Farewell and Goodnight' for my funeral...
PS: Jimmy, get well soon. Don't you worry about the tour, just rest. I can wait forever to see you guys. I will not die without see Smashing Pumpkins in concert.
