yes i see this - but i don't really know why you would care if he knew. Monte is just a fanboy billy has made hall monitor for the band, a obedient little "yes" man that does thy bidding for his lord. Who cares if he knows. He wouldn't tell us if he did, and he wouldn't ask him if he didn't. He would never compromise his unique relationship with his hero to ask him something challenging or unwanted - just "yes sir" - "no sir" * "LOL's" where appropriate

i care if he knows. well, "caring" is maybe a bit strong. but in this whole pre-order drama, i find this one of the more interesting questions.

and the fact that my question is ignored is also interesting.

^^^

How about when Monte's phone rang during his interview with Billy and Billy gave him that "oh no you didn't" look. And then his "Bill's Corner" was cancelled shortly thereafter. I cannot deny some of the good things Monte has done for SP fans, but having lurked around the Pumpkins Internet community since 1999, I can honestly say he is a truly sleazy and creepy individual. Nethporia may be a little harsh on his political and religious beliefs (which he is free to) but besides that they have hit the nail on the head with him.

Just notice that in 2008, Billy was making jokes about being afraid Monte would stab him in his sleep, and it was not until faith in the band hit an all time low (20th Anniversary Tour; Jimmy leaving the band) that Billy started to embrace Monte as one of the few fans who will appreciate everything he makes.

And on the note of Internet pre-orders, you can tell whoever it was that was responsible for that whole fiasco that I lost a customer. Amazon shipments usually arrive the day of release...not one moth later with a "gift" that never materialized.

You take one moment in time and pigeon hole me like it is an accurate sample of my life.. You slander me as being sleazy and creepy yet you have never gotten to get to know me.... I've never had a single meaningful conversation with you.

People who know me would never consider me any of that.. And the phone didn't ring, I got a text message from a fan @ the show wondering where I was b/c I just left the line to go backstage to do the interview last second.

your ending statement should be stated "has yet to materialize"

You speak as though your statements are factual, yet I see no evidence to back them up. I can tell you for a fact that the cancellation of Bill's Corner had nothing to do with Monte. I see how you can draw the conclusion of "creepy & sleazy" by just listening to what those well-adjusted people on Netphoria say. If you ever get to know Monte, you'll realize that he is far from the caricature that Netphoria has created. Just because someone doesn't feel the need to openly criticize someone's art does not make them a "yes person". There are appropriate times to share constructive criticism, and I can't think of any benefits that have arisen from people's unproductive attacks. If anything, it has alienated Billy from the SP online community.

Monte may be a creepy and/or sleazy individual for all I know. Never met him. Never seen him. Personally, I don't really care if he is or not.

The only reason to hate on him is jealousy. Plain and simple. Think what you want about him as a fan but he has never been overtly rude to anyone unprovoked and has done a lot of for the community video/info wise so I don't seriously can't understand why people have such a hard on against him outside of wishing they had some of the few small perks he does. What I also don't understand is if by chance you do have some reason that you feel is legit to hate on him (I haven't seen one yet but hey it's obviously possible) - why you would be so public about it? What does it serve to accomplish? To break his spirit? To stop him from posting any relevant information he may scrounge up? It's just flat out pathetic behavoir.

If you want the definition of creepy, spend a few minutes going through Frosty's post history *shudder* But I digress.

The gift is going to be a free digital download of Oceania a day prior to release. There. Surprise ruined. Now you all can get over it and move on with your life.

If this is the case, then this needs to be known ASAP. People here, the same ones who forked over money for advance orders from the Web site, have probably already pre ordered this album and will have their cards charged. Whoever reads this that is in touch with Billy, let them know this.

Monte, you have my apologies. I spoke harshly and it is true that I should not have brought that to this topic. Feel free to delete that post.

I'd say Monte is one of the most respectable fans on here. He's not bashing other fans, he's pretty much polite, not rude, a decent human being from what I've seen. good job Monte!

well how can preordering from Amazon get you the digital download? it's not being sold on the website as a preorder yet...and with the hassles everyone complained about regarding the reissues releases being delayed, I'm not sure how I feel about preordering from the site, even though I did order SD and managed to get mine within a week or so. Although I'm a firm believer in if it's released on June 19th it should be on people's doorsteps on that day and not still sitting on the shelf waiting to be sent off in the mail.
decisions decisions...

edit:nvm the digital download fake gift for preordering question.

If people do actually know what the gift is why is this not common knowledge?

Is it staying a secret in case SP renege. Again.

Sometimes it feels like a job to be a fan of SP.. :whattodo:/>

i think the only reason not to report the gift is because it will either

A) A surprise when fans get it at their door
B) An official e-mail that will go out
C) Still in production stage.. and might be waiting finial approval.

or maybe I am wrong about everything. what i can say is the gift will be unique and worth the wait.

I don't care what the gift is so much - I'm more interested in if it will infact go to everyone who pre-ordered through the website ( including those who requested a cancellation ) and if it will onyl be available to those who pre-order another item off the website. I'm more interested in the *conditions apply to this apparent undisclosed, 6 month late apology.

What i never understood about this whole debacle was - why the fuck didn't they just send out a link to download the album, the bonus material and even a compressed version of the DVD to those who had to wait, the MOMENT they knew this was going to be the case? The majority of the complaints would have been muted if they had access to all the material they ordered IN SOME FORMAT, and it would have been hard to be angry at someone apologising about a problem as soon as it rose, and offering a very reasonable, fair solution / resolution. The gift thing is sweet and all - but considering its 6 months after the fact already - seriously, who came up with this terrible strategy?

And Monte, sorry - but i think you are a "yes" man. I have never spoken to you personally but i have read your threads for a longtime and heard portions of your podcast and thats my honest opinion. Actually, the fact you would actaully go to the effort of making a podcast for a band which offers so little current news of interest at all makes me think you must be one, seriously obsessed mega-fan boy. If it makes you feel any better though, I have also never read the bible nor had a intimate conversation with Jesus, God or Noah - but i managed to come to the conclusion that Christianity is full of shit, & also consider priest to be creepy mega fan boys capable of "pod"ophilia

IT's not really meant as a sleight at you anyway, more so to Billy as it has became obvious he only is interested in surrounding himself with these types for "support". The fact his relationship even with Kerry has turned to shit makes you wonder how many "Yes'" you must need to constantly give for you to keep the guys friendship. Just never forget that poor bastard who headed the Pumpkins Militia that he publicly sacked and humiliated - his loyalty does not run as deeply as yours.

right because it didn't cost anything to produce this item :rolleyes:/>

but that said, I still understand the whole problem of not getting your item on time, then promised a gift on delay.

I'm glad that people will be finally getting their item. I asked for the reissues as a gift and since money was tight, my parents end up buying it from Amazon to save money on the cost and shipping. We also have had many issues with TopSpin in the past, so it's understandable that my parents would not want to order from them if they didn't have to. It sucks that people have to pay shipping though. I imagine there are many people affected, and maybe TopSpin can't cover the cost, but under the circumstances I think people shouldn't be penalized by having to pay shipping costs for an item they are getting to make up for TopSpin's initial mistake. I hope that the shipping costs go to the production costs rather than to recoup shipping for TopSpin under the circumstances.

It's good that you guys are working on this. I remember trying to order a box set from Silversun Pickups through TopSpin, and the shipping was initially horrendous for orders outside the US, making it cost prohibitive to ship it. In the end, I decided against the box set, as I still really couldn't afford it, even after Silversun Pickups worked with TopSpin to reduce the shipping costs.
