Thoughts on the Mellon Collie vinyl alt. track listing

This may or may not already have been discussed to death (Mellon Collie did come out almost two decades ago, after all) but the idea of having a completely different track listing for vinyl is interesting, and I think positioning rockers like Zero and An Ode to No One toward the end would help to keep up the momentum that the CD version loses in the We Only Come Out at Night/Beautiful/Lily/By Starlight sequence in the final fourth of the album. But does it flow as well when rearranged this way? Thoughts?
For those of you who don't have it or are too lazy to look it up, this is the tracklisting:
Dawn
1. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
2. Tonight Tonight
3. Thirty-Three
4. In the Arms of Sleep
5. Take Me Down
Tea Time
1. Jellybelly
2. Bodies
3. To Forgive
4. Here is No Why
5. Porcelina of the Vast Oceans
Dusk
1. Bullet With Butterfly Wings
2. Thru the Eyes of Ruby
3. Muzzle
4. Galapogos
5. Tales of a Scorched Earth
Twilight
1. 1979
2. Beautiful
3. Cupid de Locke
4. By Starlight
5. We Only Come Out at Night
Midnight
1. Where Boys Fear to Tread
2. Zero
3. An Ode to No One
4. Love
5. X.Y.U.
Starlight
1. Stumbleine
2. Lily (My One and Only)
3. Tonite Reprise
4. Farewell and Goodnight
5. Infinite Sadness

I enjoy MCIS just the way that the cd version is sequenced. To me, it seems like the LP was thrown together in a way that insures everything fits onto three slabs of vinyl. For one thing, "Thirty-Three" appears much too early in the album. Just seems weird to me...

I'm just an edgy guy. I live dangerously.
I may even see a PG-13 movie later.

Never liked the vinyl tracklisting. The CD was perfect.
And last 1/3 of the 2nd disc is supposed to slow down. It's nighttime!

I'll have to try listening to MCIS in that order sometime. I can't really imagine it in any order other than the CD's listing but I'll give it a whirl.

Well it depends on what you are doing at night or how you feel at night!
To me the night is the right moment for introspection or for letting your inner feelings grow and sometimes it's just angst that comes out. To me the morning is the moment of peace and calm.

I like the idea of rearranging the songs to make them correspond to a moment of the day even though I disagree with some of the choices (1979 has never been a twilight song for me for instance). I also prefer the fact that Ruby and Stumbleine and put in a row on the CD (sister songs + soft ending of Ruby, blah blah blah... You've all heard this thousands of time but I still think it's true and that this is one of the hits of this playlist).
