Was anybody here at the final show in 2000, or at least know someone who was? Just based on the incredible setlist and the video of Fuck You from Vieuphoria, I would easily put it in the top five SP shows I would've wanted to see. I'm really curious about some of the great moments that occurred (Billy's dad playing on The Last Song, all four members playing guitar on 1979, Billy tearing up at the end, etc.)

So if you were there, please tell of your experience!

yep. it was really good. not my top SP show by any means. 04/10/99 takes that title hands down, no contest.

silverfuck was awesome, BC cried, I saw Bono on the way out.

what else you wanna know?

Any good banter? Any mentions of D'arcy? Did James immediately leave after Silverfuck? How was the crowd?

metro was probably way over capacity, but I don't want to get Joe in trouble, so don't quote me on that. But the floor and balcony were wall to wall, no space at all.

Crowd was crowd, I don't really know how to answer that question. I've seen tons of SP shows and the crowds have always been supportive.

JI booked out pretty fast, but unless I'm crazy and someone can provide a quote, JC never said JI left without saying goodbye. That is a BC quote, and as far as I am concerned, coming from a bias. Not confirmed, unless JC said the same thing. But none of us knew this supposed news at the time, we didn't have access to the backstage. Found out later.

Regular banter. I think I have a copy of the shitty AUD recording that was circulating many years ago, but haven't listened back to it. Also, it was over 12 years ago now. LOL

no DW mentions, off the top of my head.

I knew someone at the time who flew over from the Netherlands without a ticket. She went to the United Centre show and then sat outside the Metro gig freezing along with a bunch of other fans. Half way through the show a guy (maybe Joe) came out from the venue and got talking to everyone and when she told him how far she had travelled he immediately brought her inside to see the rest of the show! Pretty cool! From listening to the recording of it I remember James thanking Darcy after Billy had thanked pretty much everyone else!

BC thanked "the wretzky's" as a family, I listened back.

James specifically goes out of his way to thank D'arcy and says the he loves her. Billy says something like "hell of a girl."

As for the James leaving immediately after the show, some people over on Netphoria claimed he was at the after-party for at least 30-45 minutes. They said he appeared to be with his family and girlfriend, and was for the most part very quiet and reserved, but was happy to sign the CDs given away after the show.

As Mayfair said, I think this is something Billy has added importance to after the fact. I think it's a fair assumption to make that Jimmy, Billy, and James figured they would all talk to each other again.

Must be one of the longer, if not the longest, show you've attended by anyone? I was always impressed by the setlist length.

Did "Silverfuck" have a definite ending, or did the band just kind of quit like Billy made it sound like when talking about the show?

Coming along with Machina reissue probably, or at least released at the same time.
So this DVD (blue ray, whatever,...) is probably due next year.
Well I hope so... :unsure:/>
I must admit it is something I crave as well.

they would never package it with the reissues. the whole thing would cost way too much $$$. Metro will be a stand alone release.

People keep saying this, no one has "proven" anything. They are including a cassette with the Pisces reissue. The marginal cost of a DVD or CD probably isn't very high at this point anyway.

Metro show packaged with a Machina reissue absolutely increases the sales of the Machina reissue among non-hardcore fans IMO.

Not saying that they wouldn't do them separately, but it's not like it's the Bible Truth or something.

Zietgiest was packaged with a DVD. I bought it for $18. Which is still less then the freaking box sets cost. So I don't think it would seriously drive the cost up, especially produced in bulk.

guys, it was a 4 hour show. We're not talking about the quick gigs they did at the Metro earlier in their career. Based on length alone, price will be significant.

I still beg to differ. We'll see what happens, but I don't whatsoever believe that this cost argument has been demonstrated by anyone. You really think a double-sided DVD costs that much for a record company these days? I'm NOT saying it's a slam dunk that it'll be included. I'm saying they will do whatever they think will move more discs/make them more money, and I'm not sure which of those would do it.

Vindicated. Apparently Billy told Monte it's coming out with a reissue.

Still in deep denial, I see. ;)/>

No, I know that whatever BC says right now could easily change in a month - that's true. Still, this shows that there is a strong possibility it will come out with a reissue and not as a standalone piece.

which would be a mistake, cause then the chances of Arising being official released would be almost nil.

the Machina release needs an Arising compilation. Metro could and would sell on its own.

What do you think about the idea of an Arising show on the [combined] Machina reissue and the Metro show on a "best of" reissue?

I would love an Arising show. Best tour IMO. Maybe as a Sprc release? If not in reissues.
