The mixture of elaborate lyrics and Billy's vocals in the Pumpkins' songs makes it easy to mishear a lyric. Here are a few of mine:

We don't even care to shave things that are blue
(We don't even care to shake these zipper blues)
- 1979

Judy, your face!
(Dirty your face)
- Rotten Apples

We can smell the mangroves
Arrive with Steve, unafraid

(We dismiss the back roads
To ride these streets unafraid)
- Age of Innocence

Do you have any? If so, post them here!

"I wanna feel you up...I wanna rape you"

instead of the real lyrics "I wanna fill you up I wanna break you." from "X.Y.U."

first time I heard 'Today' all I could hear was...

"Judy (pronounced Jew-Day) is the greatest dame I've ever known."

Painfully embarrassing to admit, especially because I knew the name of the song was Today.

I agree with the above comment about X.Y.U too...it sounds like he's saying 'rape you' for sure...but of course he's not...but I always hear it that way, even knowing otherwise. Weird.

"Rhinoceros"

Actual line: "Open your eyes, to these must I lie?"

What I honestly thought I heard: "Open your eyes to these mustard eyes."

Yep, me too.

I actually like it better as mustard eyes. Mustard eyes is a cool concept.

He CLEARLY says rape you in x.y.u. The lyric sheet is wrong. It is 100% rape.

Real Love is bitchin' instead of Real Love is riches.

And I still maintain that it's "Forever young, forever BRIGHT, into the stars, we rock tonight" not BLIND.

From Bullet, the first Pumpkins song I ever heard:

Lyric:
"Despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage"

What I thought I heard:
"Spyin' on the rain, I yam steel just a bat on a cage"

I have a hard time hearing the lyrics the first time I hear a song. happy2.gif

Always thought in 'to forgive' instead of saying "I feel nothing" Billy was just saying "I feel the same" with a childish lisp.

When I was 6 and Mellon Collie came out I musta had some seriously effed up hearing. I remember thinking this when I was a kid. Don't remember the exact part I confused for that, just remember it was the chorus:

1979 (what I thought)

"And we don't need pudding ties, always count on me with you."

Actual:

"And I don't even care to shake these zipper blues. And we don't know just where our bones will rest, to dust I guess. Forgotten and absorbed into the Earth below."

In the Zwan song Soul Machine he says "I'm a soul machine" a handful of times, and it sounds like he's saying "I'm a sewing machine."

Only Billy could make sewing machines rock.

First time, I heard Cherub Rock I thought it was...

Hipsters unite,
Come align for the bear fight to rock for you,

I actually sang it at gigs, on stage as "bear fight", god did I feel like an ass when I was corrected lol.

Also, the first few times I heard "Thirty-Three", I thought that instead of "And for a moment I lose myself, wrapped up in the pleasures of...", it was, "And for a moment I lose myself, wrapped up in my pleasure zone...". LOL :-)

Actual line: "So speak your peace in the murmurs drawn."

Kind of sounds like: "So stick your penis in the murmurs drawn."

Hey, I knew the correct version of this first, but I've been thinking about this for a while:

X.Y.U.

Correct Lyric:
"I bleed for me and mine!"

Alternate:
"I bleed for Myanmar!"

Couldn't have guessed Billy was a foreigner. LOL :-)

I tried so hard
To cleanse these deep warts"

thats what he's singing....right??? It's definitely not "regrets"... unless its "reeegrawwwrrts"?

I actually thought that line sounded like "So speak your peace in the woman's drawl"

And hes definitely saying "Regrets" in Today, knew that having never looked at the lyrics.

And i heard this one also!

Actually i had a big problem deciphering SD lyrics in general. Listen to this from Quiet (at the end):

Behind me theres a fallen sun
Come and rock me hoodlum
Come save me from the autumn sun
I'm nutty

As you can see, pretty messed up... lolz.gif

Also in Soma where he sings "so let this sadness come again" i though he sang "so let me sign this card again".

And finally, the first verse of Geek USA to me until a couple of years ago sounded like this:

Round round lets pretend
We will bum an inner scent
Crashed into the world where rapper lies

Then for a final giggle, verse 2 started:

Kiss kiss olive vest
The hysterectomist
And undress hand that candy understood

Again goodness knows how i got this, but thought you might enjoy these. smile.gif

This, FTW. I can't figure out if it's funnier that you thought these were the lyrics or if it's funnier that you thought Billy would actually write these as lyrics. Just shows how much murder he's capable of getting away with lyrically.

Good one. I thought he was actually randomly saying 'holes' instead of 'ho's' though. Before I knew that I didn't know.

i just noticed that the line "i was happier than i'd ever been" from Hummer sounds a lot like "i was heavier than i'd ever been"
