I don't know what everyone is complaining about when it comes to Mike's subtleties/dynamics. Yes Jimmy has fantastical control over his fills and he has amazing dynamic range when executing rolls/fills, but listen to Byrne's drumming during the slow part of XYU. If I close my eyes, he sounds just like Jimmy. He is doing the soft snare rolls that Jimmy is famous for and his hi-hat always stays on the downbeat throughout the entire song, soft or loud... just like Jimmy. I can hear what you all are saying on Tonight, Tonight though. Byrne is executing the fills/rolls but just not as softly with as much finesse as Jimmy. And maybe that is because he doesn't want to be compared to Jimmy all the time.

Oh, and Panopticon may very well be my new favorite song. Now Byrne is very Chamberlinesque in this one, especially those snare rolls at the beginning. Jeff's guitar is so bomb towards the end!

you can use free open source software.

pgcdemux can grab the ac3 from the dvd as one big file. audacity with ffmpeg codec can read ac3. import to audactiy. track/split the songs. save as wav/flac/mp3. keep the flac's small as its upscaling a bit and nothing should be lost either way.

all good. thanks for your efforts.

I'm trialing a couple of pieces of software, the upscaling is noted as i thought ripping to the highest quality would maintain it more but i realise now that it backfired. I'll keep you informed. Hopefully i'll have the TV rip uploaded tomorrow morning if it all works well and the webstream replaced tomorrow night. Thank you for the advice, i'm learning a lot and it's good to know for future released :cheers:/>

They sound great. A marked difference in improvement of vocals all around. Good to see more of Jeff

you've never heard the version on The Aeroplane Flies High? If not, listen to that whole box NOW.

Tonite Reprise

And the embers never fade in my city by the lake
The place where I was born
As the wind-up toys wind down
Muffling the sound of a life hidden underground

Believe, believe in me
Believe
That you can change, that you're not stuck in vain
We're not the same, we're different tonite
We'll the crucify the insincere tonite
We'll make things right, we'll feel it all tonite
The impossible is possible tonite
Believe in me like I believe in you tonite

"Band" as a whole...yes. I know that's sacrilege to the old die hard fans but deal with it. I'm basing an opinion on what I've heard in these latest live performances. I would actually rather hear Billy sing in key than scream his head off. In the past they would just sort of unleash Jimmy and everyone would try and keep up. Now it's more controlled ...less sloppy and noisy. Technically better in my opinion.

Even if you cut out the hard screamy period of late sd tour and mcis tour I would take the adore tour and arising tour as light years over the reformation tours. Not that billy sucks live now or anything..

"Light years" really? I understand having a preference but that's taking it a little far in my opinion.
Still, you're entitled to have a preference for different eras. It shouldn't bother me or anybody else if that's what you think. The same way as people who prefer the current lineup should be able to express their support and appreciation without being so scrutinized or belittled here.
It's ultimately a personal preference.

TV rip re-done with no issues, webstream rip re-done with a couple of issues. With the webstream it's mainly during the flip-out of the Zero intro and clips majorly within the first 25 seconds before the audio normalises. There's a couple of points it clips later on minorly, but it happens no matter how low i take it down and i think it's a result of the webstream broadcast itself.

WAVs are ripped, i'll do FLAC conversions tonight when i finish work tonight. I should have the TV rip on LMA tomorrow aswell as replacing the webstream version already up.

This band is amazing.
No matter where they go play.
I can't compare 1 of their performances with another because they all have their own story to tell.

Mike put in the effort.
Jeff doesnt look like he used to in pictures (he looks like he wants to be there now)
Nicole is a sweetheart.
Billy is always cool.(again not comparing the past with the current)
we are so blessed to have a band like this to enjoy because they dont come often.
THANK YOU SP and
THANK GOD.

GOD BLESS SP.
GOD BLESS AMERICA.

I didn't mean to offend or sound overly offended myself. You and I 'know' each other well from the politics board so I thought I could rag on you a bit in a friendly way. I guess not though. Whatever.

Don't think this has been posted yet. The Rock In Rio YouTube page has added three videos http://www.youtube.c...ashing%E2%80%8F
They appear to be better quality than the vimeo copy.

physical image doesn't account to diddly squat with real music unless its part of some pageantry / concept. it might mean something to those who idolize musicians and buy records based on an artists sex appeal or appearance, or portraying some fashion/fad in our culture they aspire to be a part of, etc, but that has nothing to do with the music and art, which is priority #1 when dealing with musicians.

anyways, now he can body slam better, which I also noticed.

I would guess his recent weight gain is simply from aging, and being happier and more content in his life. I'd rather have him a little overweight than freakishly thin. Just gotta get some clothes that fit a little better.

I dont care if billy gained weight but the camera guy should be careful about zooming in on it.. It's distracting.

Lucky for me I don't notice the camera guys actions at all when I am listening to the music.

I was pleasantly surprised with his backing vocals on Pinwheels, but was completely blown away by how raw and powerful he sounded on BD. It's amazing how a drum Wunderkind like Mike also just happens to have great pipes. He has a very promising musical career ahead of him after SP.

it does not surprise me. both billy and nicole have mentioned that he is the best overall musician (or most musicaly inclined or something like that) in the group.
