He definitely didn't play Today. He played the opening lick as a tease. He was quite angry at people coming with the expectation of hearing Pumpkins songs.

Well, in any case, there you go. That means that Billy, as an artist/creator, definitely wants SP to be identified separately from his solo work. And to push that even more, Zwan (BC + JC combo) wasn't SP.. in fact, it confused and made some people wrinkle their faces that it wasn't angst ridden SP music and whatnot.

No, it means BC didn't want to concede people were coming for his old hits. It made him angry that he was selling tickets based off past successes.

he teased today when i saw him solo in '05, and i don't think it was anger at people expecting SP, so much as an acknowledgement/bone thrown to the fans in the wake of the reformation announcement.

Well, I just find this live version simply amazing. To be honest better than the original one.

I think that's selling Billy short, especially based off of a few dumb asses in a crowd. Billy isn't someone that relies or even caters to fans. He does what he wants. Plus, many of his fans are more than interested in new music he does.. or anything he does, for that matter.

Aww!, "brains". If I knew that giving my opinion would have been so personal to snail33, well, maybe I would have thought about it a bit. But, you know, you just can't mend the past, right?.
But to me this last live version is refreshing, it has attitude, it's different and has some added power. I mean I just don't want you to change your perspective of Shame, you can play in loop mode the whole Adore CD all over again for the 150th time if you want and feel it like it's the first time... so deep so nostalgic and great (no one denies it). Sh-sh-sh-sh-sh-shaaaaaame!.(louder) .
