Hi everyone,
Its been 10 years since I bought my first SP CD (Rotten Apples, after a friend turned me onto Stand Inside Your Love) but recently I've been discovering bsides and outtakes etc. So that naturally led me here. This seems like a really nice forum. I think I will learn a lot about the Pumpkins from you all.

A good way to get to know people here is to know your favourite SP songs. And of course because it may seem impossible to choose 10, let's do 11. Everyone will have a different list and a different favourite song, so I'm curious to see.

Here's mine:

1. Crush
2. Bury Me
3. Soma
4. Geek USA
5. Marquis in Spades
6. Muzzle
7. Thirty Three
8. Perfect...or maybe Crestfallen
9. Stand Inside Your Love
10. This Time
11. That's the Way My Love Is

Let's hear yours!

6. Once Upon a Time
7. Medellia Of The Gray Sky
8. Slow Dawn
9. This Time
10. Bleed
11. Cupid De Locke (or Lily, they're sorta tied I'd say)

:lick:/> Hilow, I'm fairly new to the board as well.

1.Appels + Oranjes
2.In My Body
3.Waiting
4.Beautiful
5.1979
6.Cupid De Locke
7.Glass And The Ghost Children
8.Raindrops + Sunshowers
9.The Sacred and Profane
10.Blue Skies Bring Tears (Machina 1 album version)
11.Daphne Descends

I think everyone has a certain aspect of the pumpkins that they are drawn to and for me it would be the atmospheric, experimental, mellow stuff. It was hard to even narrow it down to 11!

4. Jellybelly
5. Here Is No Why
6. Cupid De Locke
7. 1979

Really glad to see someone else love that side. I love their more atmospheric stuff. On any given day I bet mine would change just a bit, and all of the ones you listed would def appear at some point :)/> Awesome to see that you love Appels+Oranjes as much as I do. I think Daphne, Waiting, and S&P are all very underrated too. All favs of mine.

^Mine constantly changes, as well. As of late:

1) Zero
2) Stand Inside Your Love
3) Hummer
4) Daphne Descends
5) Let Me Give The World To You
6) Thru The Eyes Of Ruby
7) Soma
8) The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning
9) Mayonaise
10) Tonight, Tonight
11) Behold! The Night Mare

This is far from definitive, however. Save for #1. The song that got me into the Pumpkins and changed my musical perspective will always be at the top.

Welcome, btw. Hope you have a tough skin. :happy:/>

Wow, surprised to see Cupid de Locke making so many lists! I remember people always trashing this neat little number when talking about Mellon Collie. Great lists people, keep 'em coming! :)/>

hmmm I really can't see a pattern in the songs. . mellow with some rockin ones as well. .they are all pretty dreamy though!

I just thought it was interesting how some of my freinds only listened to the pumpkins for the heavy rock side and hated the softer pretty songs. I totally love tunes like ruby and jellybelly as well, it is just that I am very into more spacey/dark/shoegaze music and happens to be the kind I like to make. Pumpkins are my number one influence!

I've always loved Speed. It may not be as dynamic or "deep" as many other SP songs, but there's just something about it I've always loved, and is why I still hold out so much hope for a finished studio take. I just really love that song is all.

A bold statement indeed. I won't lie though, with the proper studio treatments, that AND My Love Is Winter would potentially make my top ten.

This is by far the best version of this song

I heard Billy say in an interview once that he wish he had more time with Mellon Collie to perfect some of the songs, I always think of this song when I think of that

Nice. Spangled is a very pretty tune. :thumbsup:/>

Drown
Hummer
Mayonaise
Tonight, Tonight
Porcelina
Bodies
Ruby
We Only Come Out at Night (a lot of people seem to dislike that song, and I can understand that. But I listened to this song on loop as a child, and it really made an impact on me.)
The Last Song
For Martha
Home

Yeah, pretty generic picks. I can see Oceania, if well executed in the studio, becoming an addition.

Disagreed I love the chorus to Ma Belle. But overall I find Ma Belle to be a very polarizing song within the pumpkins community, there seems to be a lot of people who love it with a passion, and an equal amount who hate it with a passion. I obviously fall into the love category

Oceania is definitely on my list. I have looped live versions of that song so many times since last fall. The song is just epic

I remember one time doing one of these lists with songs entirely from 2007 onwards just to piss people off. But I'll try to be more accurate this time, but I'm not putting too much thought into this and just jotting it down so I'm sure I'll forget something.

Just off the top of my head:

1. Eye
2. Bodies
3. The Aeroplane Flies High
4. Soothe
5. Ma Belle
6. Set the Ray to Jerry
7. Galapagos
8. Gossamer
9. As Rome Burns
10. Blue Skies Bring Tears
11. Dross

Hmm, I always wrestle with this one. The only one that is for sure is #1. The rest is in no particular order:
1. Tonight, Tonight
2. Soma
3. I Am One
4. Starla
5. Set the Ray To Jerry
6. This Time
7. Blissed and Gone
8. Let Me Give the World To You
9. Dross
10. Thru The Eyes of Ruby
11. Eye

So many other ones that I could list, damn that's hard. I could have just as easily put in stuff like The Last Song (I switched out it for This Time at the last second), Stand Inside Your Love, Pug, The Fellowship, Bleeding The Orchid, Disarm,Muzzle, That's The Way, Bodies, etc.

These could change tomorrow and in no particular order:

Hummer
Cherry
Daydream
Today
Thru the Eyes of Ruby
Tonight, Tonight
Obscured
Soma
Zero
Rocket
Stumbleine

The 1993 BBC Disarm is pretty amazing. If I listened to it right now it'd be in my 11.

Best thing on archive.org :happy:/>
I'm surprised it has so few downloads. I prefer Disarm BBC WAY more than the Siamese Dream version.

if "this time" replaced "the last song" in your mind at #7, shouldn't "the last song" now be #8, and everything else move down, thereby knocking "eye" out of the top 10?
