I don't think i'll ever agree with the middle sentence. But same can be said with any woman's voice so far heard with Billy. his voice is too unique and everyone else is too normal, I just don't think it fits well. But i do agree Nicole is talented bass player and is pretty cute. I probably wouldn't mind her vocals had she something solo, but layered with billy... Nah.

I also really liked how she did the backing in Soma!
I have been really blown away by the recent live shows - it's great to hear bass lines with more variation and heart. I would like to go beyond her musicality and beauty, and say that she is an incredibly nice and lovely person. She completed the circle and brought balance in the band...not a lot of people could have done that :happy:/>

I dunno, it's pretty shitty to judge her based on looks, I think. But then again, she IS really cute so that doesn't hurt. Tied with MADM for most beautiful SP member ever?

I don't know, not saying she takes away from that song, but I think it'd be pretty much the same if she didn't even sing on it. to each their own i guess.

I must ask though, why all the hate for Ginger. Granted she did not get to have as much input as Nicole because Jimmy and Billy were still recording everything as duo, but I thought she was a fantastic bass player and if you watch If All Goes Wrong, she definitely had a part in turning some of those residency song seeds into full breathing pieces of music.

Absolutely agree. More important then people realize or even acknowledge. Bass is very grounding, and when you have an ability to be in many spaces at once (like a lot of SP music does) you absolutely need someone who can strongly balance, and tether that. She is doing an exceptional job. Because not only is she a strong enough personality, she is an open enough soul too. She really deserves a lot of recognition and applause IMO.
Orchi the colors in that picture are gorgeous. I love the color scheme of stage set is beautiful. Makes for great photos so far.

I think her backing vocals for the newer songs live are really good. On the oakland shows I didn't hear her that well on the older songs as opposed to the newer songs so I don't know if that was a mixing issue.
and yeeeaaah Nicole is so awesome *swoons*
Simon, Ben, Carrie: don't get jealous i'll still always keep a special place in my bosoms for you.

Completely. D'arcy had a bass style that was very hypnotic and syrupy. She could really ground a part, and really feel it. She glued the bass to the drums. You can hear the chemistry. I know she didn't play on Gish at all and SD much (apparently she did play on MCIS properly) but those songs came out of the rehearsal room and I'm sure D'arcy wrote the parts. One of the problems I always had with Zeitgeist is that the bass playing on it is all wrong- the energy is wrong. Billy can play the bass fine, but his heart isn't in it and his parts are functional, or sometimes just after thoughts.
And to bring this back on topic to Nicole- she does all of the above. The energy is right. And she looks great in a mini-dress and gogo boots.

Yes, it was quite the experience to get to the show as it was ending and I was quite sad that I missed it (having one dollar to my name, a Federal Reserve Note my friend made me carry). Still, it was great to meet Nicole, and it's really neat to see the videos on Youtube. Here's some good stuff:
