Hopefully by June 1st we will see a new website with all the necessary details for release, any new pre-order info, bundle packages, and, of course, tour dates. I'll tell you one thing that would get to me pre-order Oceania from SP directly, regardless of being taken to the cleaners on shipping - guaranteed presale codes for tickets. Not suggesting that is going to happen, their marketing braintrust is not capable of anything that savvy, or something that well planned in advance, however it would be cool if they did SOMETHING to try and tie the audio release of the record to the visual aspect of the tour (or as previously mentioned, bundle packages that include Oceania in your chocie of format as well as the accompanying blu-ray/DVD, featuring music videos for each track, etc).

This is where I get really really excited and really really worried at the same time. Kinda makes me a bit nauseous, haha.
But yeah, bring it on Billeh. I'm super pumped, and I really hope the songs shine with their studio treatment.

There's a good reason why a splash page promoting Oceania doesn't have the release date of the album and that the "Tour Dates" link lists only 3 dates, one of which has been cancelled? The only good reason for these is that the release date is not firm, Rock Coast still has a chance of being un-cancelled, and the other five tour dates are in imminent danger of being cancelled. Is that the case?

apparently there is a good a reason. when the splash page went up I made comment about it missing a number of things as you listed.

As far as proper websites for bands Billy could take a lesson from? NIN.com is great. There's even a phone app for it.
TVontheradio has a pretty decent layout among many others.
I would honestly be happy if sp.com just reverted back to how it used to be. It had it's glitches, but at least it had setlists posted, a proper navigational system, etc.

Ever since they got rid of that design it's been all downhill.

That website WAS great in retrospect. Who knew all the whining would push it all in the opposite direction. Le sigh.

By means of comparison, Rush has an album coming out next month and a tour as well. On their website, you can easily access all that info and it has a pretty cool steampunk design they're into now. No forums, not particularly interactive, but it has all the basics.
Why can't Billy do this?

why don't you add some teeth sucking
i'm sure there's a fan or two here with subpar artistic skills that can take over the design of the site....

I think those blaming Billy are fairly off-base, though. Sure, he's the CEO of this operation, if you will, but clearly he has someone on the payroll to do the website and he really shouldn't have to tell them to fix a link that was broken for 3 days or put the release date of the album on the splash page. I think that's a service you should expect from anyone you pay to run your website.

I was gonna mention Muse, too. Band of Skulls also have an easy-to-navigate page with sufficient info.
I made an SP website in a web design class I took 5 or 6 years ago that would be on par with the current site. :lick:/>
