I'd say that the Gish/SD era material would be the most stingy as far as reissues are concerned. Especially with all of the Pre-Gish/Gish material you can download for free or get through other means. Then with SD, you have Pisces. I'm actually surprised we got what we did. A new take of the SD title track, plus STP, USA & USSR. More than I expected. And all of the other outtakes/live cuts sound quite good from the clips. Its whatever. Honestly, I'm really mostly interested in the DVD more than anything.

With Gish, there isn't much different, but it would still be nice to have.

Mellon Collie will no doubt have more. I imagine we'll at least see Towers of Rabble, Speed, and The Viper instrumental. Perhaps more.

Adore we still have Let Me Give The World To You, the old version of Cash Car Star, "Blues Death March" Pug and maybe more.

Machina will be interesting enough if only for the remaster of both discs combined and put into the correct track order. I can't imagine many bsides will be included aside from the obvious Speed Kills and Machina II b-sides. If there was a full-band Here I Am, then I will shit my pants, but I'm pretty certain there isn't. Correct me if I am wrong.

I'm curious to see the Zeitgeist one, as well. If only to see if there was anything better than what he released.

Why aren't 89 demo tracks on the Gish release? Vanilla? Bye June? Would have been a great catchall for those songs.

Corgan said there will be an official release of Pre-Gish stuff next year.

Well that's encouraging. I've always thought of pre-Gish as Gish though. Close enough.

Am I correct in assuming you live outside the US? If so, it might be worth noting that the world-wide release for these boxes is 12/5. It's only 11/29 is the US.

So I placed my order for 24bit audio downloads and the delux edition Box Sets from SP website.

I live in the UK so anyone know how and when I can get the audio?

Cheers,
Paul

his profile says NY. but with the free super saving shipping from amazon, sometimes it delays it a week. i made sure to sign up for a free trial of amazon prime when i ordered these so i get free two day rush shipping so i will get them on release day. the vinyl will be delivered dec 1.

I'm pretty sure that the little MP3 audio sample format that amazon (and other sites) use doesn't provide adequate enough sound quality for the difference between the orig and the reissues to translate.

Billy was really passionate when he was talking about these at some of the SPRC meetings (Kerry, too). I am confident in both of them.
Having been a club DJ and working in radio for several years- the audio format does make a difference. Its all of the little things you hear in the better quality recordings that you didnt realize you were missing in the lower quality files.

Like FadedNite said though, i'm getting it because its in a package of new stuff. New versions of songs that i already have just happens to be a great bonus.

View PostFadedNite, on 14 November 2011 - 07:47 PM, said:

I feel the same way. I'd like to utilize SPRC but I can't pass up the savings on Amazon.

Also, are these samples on Amazon, the actual cuts? I hear that the guitars a slightly louder but that is about it. I played the sample clips then listened to my CD on my computer and unless you are comparing side by side, its hard to notice any difference. The average listener is not gonna notice the difference. I was barely able to tell.

But I'll still buy it for the bundled package.

All the digital audio downloads will be sent out Midnight PST on the 29th. If you ordered any of the physical items, I don't know. I think all the items are being shipped out on the 29th.

Record stores often have embargos which mean they cant release music early, and in the US and UK, they are upheld, but elsewhere it's not so strict.

Starla 2011 mix is pretty sweet. It sounds like the solo (if that's what you want to call that freakout) has been put through Billy's guitar rig like 2305730945 times.

Yeah, it's really good. My only complaint is that the transition to the second/heavier part of the song is so damn abrupt. I'm not sure I can ever get used to that... However, I like the rest of it a lot.

seriously Gish is done so well! OMG! My ears are furiously loving the rape it's receiving from the new mix. It's loud but not to the point of clipping. So much clarity as well. Now I wanna get them on vinyl.

Im very pleased with this particular remaster.

Its louder but not in the horrible shit dynamic range killing way.

At first it sounded shit, then i turned my EQ off to find they have infact made the album sound like how i EQ'd the original. Meaning theyve made it brighter. Bass and drums seem to be the most noticeable, being overall stronger in the mix

Im pleased, i shall now order this as opposed to listening to the download i got. I want that Metro DVD!

Just got an email stating that due to the amount of orders received that they are delayed in sending out physical copies and promise that all physical copy orders will be shipped by Dec. 6th. I find that kind of sad. They have had my money since October 17th. How hard is it to fullfill your end of a business transaction? I could have saved money AND had them today had I used Amazon. Maybe I will think about doing so for the rest of the reissues.

those where the first things i noticed, too! but probably just because that's how the album starts...

my only qualm w/ the bonus disc on this release is the number of songs from "Pisces Iscariot" ... is that album not receiving the full reissue treatment? and if so, won't these songs just end up being redundant?
