He played baby live in Japan and it contains the same lyrics from the one that was performed at the record store show. It didn't contain the lyrics from the one heard in the upstream.

well dog damn, how many different lyrically ukelele songs does he plan writing, especially when the music sounds very similar?

all joking aside: His low singing on this song and the standard rock stylings really make it sound like it could be a recording from the first Zwan show.

I like the song but it's hardly lives up to the Kristen Burns hype.

At least she didn't tell us it'd "burn the lies off our very souls".

Tallulah Lu and Baby are 100% the same song. There is no debate, no questioning. They are THE SAME SONG. I will concede, however, that the section we heard in the Ustream video, while very similar to Baby, was not present in this most recent performance. However, I would imagine it is very likely an alternate version of the song, rather than a seperate. new track, especially given that Kerry had referred to it as Baby, and they really (honestly) were not that different.

So, Baby = Tallullah Lu

And Ustream Baby = Alternate version of Baby/ Tallullah Lu

All in all, they're all ultimately the same song.

Oh, they're really the same... just because they are a ukelele song? Like, Rocket and Cherub Rock are the same, because they're guitar tunes...

No offense, but they're pretty different.

Lyrics and melody...

The song played in the youtube video above is EXACTLY the same song Billy played on Record Store Day, the same song we've been calling Baby. Billy is calling this song Tallulah Lu. Same song, different title. And at the risk of confusing everyone further, "Baby" was on the white board, which was dated July (?) 09. Obviously he couldn't name the song Tallulah Lu at that point.

Billy's girlfriend mentioned Bugaboo, the song played during the studio ustream ( bugaboo it's you I dream of ... ) by name on her twitter a few weeks ago.

Two different songs. Why is this so confusing?

Right, the same song aside from having different chords, different lyrics, a different progression, and a different vocal melody.

But yeah, lets get back to My Love is Winter. Is anyone else intrigued by the fact that the song is swung? It makes it feel slightly like a jig or something. Not saying it's bad, but it's an interesting style choice for the mood of the song.

I loved the song!

But also think that Billy seems to have a harder time projecting his voice when he sings so low. At the same time, he's also mentioned not wanting to use capos live (for whatever reason I simply cannot fathom).

Excellent song though to me! It almost seems to have a kind of 1970's vibe. Something about the groove that Mike Byrne plays for it.

Fernando, you said Baby and Tellulah Lu weren't the same.

We're referring to Baby from RSD vs. Tellulah Lu which are, in fact, the same song. I had mentioned the Ustream thing as possibly being different (in spite of the fact that they sound very similar) and according to what Lucciola posted re: BC's girlfriend referring to Bugaboo being it's own piece, it sounds like Bugaboo could very well be a separate song.

But, Baby and Tellulah Lu are the same fucking song.

Probably right.

And just in case there's still any confusion, this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3oJ155biY0

is the EXACT SAME SONG as this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmvOCBn2mqo

Well yeah, Record Day Baby and Japan Baby are the same Baby, but studio Baby is a whole different song.

Upon looking into the girlfriend's tweet, all that was said was "bagaboooo", with nothing before or after. It could just be someone's nickname in their camp, or some lame inside joke they all have. I'm not disputing that the Ustream video might not be its own song, but I still don't think its unheard of to consider the possibly that it might an alternate version of Baby.

It could be a reprise of Baby somewhere else in the album. All we have to go off of is that Kerry referred to it as Baby, we only heard 1 minute of it, and I highly doubt Billy's going to take an all out ukelele direction on this record. The chords/ melody/ whatever may be different, in the one minute clip that we've heard, but don't go knocking possible alternatives when you have no better idea than me or anyone else here.

So, for the last time, "Baby" (from the RSD performance) and Tululah Lu from this recent date in Asia are THE SAME SONG.

Bugaboo from Ustream may be an alternate/ reprise of Baby/ Tululah, or it may be its own song.

This is all we know, there is no more arguing to be had on it.

I hardly doubt he would wright two songs so similar with a uke and the lyrics "baby" with the exact same elements and rhythms in each song and consider them two different songs. Its likely the same song, but alternate versions just like there are so many alternate SP songs already. Kerry Brown is a smart guy and wouldnt somehow mix up the songs. Either way this song is not A material to me. Would be a nice B-side tho.

As for My Love is Winter, im a little let down cuz i think its kind of bland. Cool guitar solos tho, but sounds very radio friendly bland which is not cool. Im sure they could make it sweet in studio tho, so im gunna reserve my judgment I really want to hear Quazar tho. Still waiting on those heavy, rocking songs.

Sweet, another song with the words "love" and "God"! Definitely fresh!

I think I like it musically, but I need to hear the studio version. Drums are boring though.

No, it's not all that was said. While she was on tour with Billy, the gf posted something about how nice it was to hear "ucalaly" rolleyes2.gif played first thing in the morning. She's since deleted it. Then her songwriter friend, who's been to SP rehearsels and has probably heard the song, tweeted, "Bugaboooooo?" or Bagabooo or whatever the hell. Jessica retweeted this, which I assume was a confirmation. So there is certainly a song called Bugaboo. Call me crazy, but I think Bugaboo might be that ustream song with "bugaboo" in the lyrics and Tallulah Lu might be the RSD/Japan song with "Tallulah Lu" in the lyrics.

I think Kerry either misspoke or there is some confusion as to what question he was answering.

Now listen here, Apples. It pains me to say this as I think you're quite wonderful, but I am right and you are wrong wrong wrong. Someday this will be irrefutably proven and when it is I fully expect you to drop to your knees and whimper something along the lines of "Lucia, I am a doubting, faithless little toad and I swear by all that's holy that I will never question you again. Please find it in your heart to forgive me"

Now lets move on before pastup barges in and starts pissing and moaning about how obsessed we all are.

I will gladly submit if I, or any of the people who say it's the same song are proven wrong.

Unfortunately, you seem to have some sort of web-based learning disability, not being able to process what you read online. That or you are looking wayyyyyy to deep into something that is not there.

Again I will admit I'm wrong when the time comes, and I fully expect you to do likewise along with all the other crazies who seem to enjoy inflicting migraines on perfectly sane board members.

I'm more inclined to believe that they are separate songs. It's not that crazy to believe that he would have two ukulele songs that sound so similar. The only other thing I can think of is that it might be an alternate version. Though, I still maintain that they are separate songs. However, this debate is pointless because nobody can prove it either way until someones asks Kerry or Billy.

I don't care for Baby, Boogaboo or Tallulah Lu. Ukeleles are for midgets.
And he's singing too low on this, can't really appreciate the melody. He sounds like a melodic burp.

RottingApples,

I called them Tellulah Lu and "Baby" cause, as I know, they're the title, but I was talking about Baby (RSD/Japan) and Baby (Ustream) all the time, now called Tellulah Lu and, probably, Bugaboo. wink.gif

This is what I've been thinking. Then I remembered that the drums changed quite a bit between live Freak and studio Freak so that they were a bit more busy and energetic and it sounded different so I'm hoping for the same thing here.

This is the same song played at Record Store Day, so yes. Baby is now called Tellulah Lu. But this is NOT the same song from the Ustream. Him actually playing it pretty much the same as he did at RSD proves that even further. Why would he play it one way, record it differently, then play it the original way live after recording it? That's because they are two different songs. Just admit it.

Can you take this idiotic Baby argument to a thread that's not about My Love is Winter?

I dont know if anyone has tried to really decipher the lyrics, I mean you cant hear it very good, but I think I can make out the bridge. It sounds like he's saying.

I should have been wise
I should have been bold
I could have found God
or bought a new soul
but my love is winter
my love is loss.

Again thats just a guess at it. I cant make out hardly anything in the verses.

And then towards the end of the song it sounds like he's saying

My love is winter now
my love is winters song.

It's been discussed to death. No one will be swayed one way or the other, so its best to just leave it be.

And on topic, I enjoy My Love is Winter. I'd like to see it paired up with Caroline, Yes.
