Changes every time, but right now, its tough. I'm between Stand Inside Your Love & Daphne Descends.

I'm gonna say Stand Inside Your Love. However, if we were talking live cuts, Daphne would blow most everything else away for me. :yes:/>

this is just so weird to me. a soaring, transcendent, exhilarating, deeply romantic and moving song, and a meandering, stylized, repetitive, droning, just-okay song. just a strange pair. one incredibly special, impressive song and one very average one.

In your opinion, my insecure friend. Maybe it is a good thing that I don't dwell on the same sound and can enjoy near everything the band did 1991-2000?

I'm sorry if Daphne did indeed descend upon your computer from mine, jump on the screen and spit in your face, but I digress.

Daphne Descends is definitely "drony", but the bridge is amazing.

Daphne Descends is a fucking amazing song. The lyrics and the way he delivers over the chilling chords.... oh and that bridge... top notch song IMO.

Overall my favorite would probably be Beautiful, but it changes now and again... songs like Rotten Apples, Shame, This Time, Hope, Whir, Hummer, Disarm.. those all seem to circulate regularly, so I'd hold them all in the 'favorite category.' They all have the most emotional pull to me, and the most sentimental value.

I do have to say though, Oceania the song, as well as Pale Horse are blowing my mind. Really having high hopes for these, because if they're nailed, they could creep up into my top 10....

i don't dwell on the same sound, either. shame is repetitive and drony, too, but it has something else in there. there is a ghost walking benevolently through that sing. it sighs but it does so beautifully. it's a special, moving song. daphne is a cool enough song, groovy if you're in the right mood, but it's one of those kind of stylized adore numbers, not a song with anything deep or moving to it. the lyrics are "cool", not deep. it's just an ok song, not one to my #1 or 2 of a band with literally hundreds of truly incredible songs.

ummm...scratching head.....right now....cinder..um see post...all time...rocket or hummer

because i love the rocket video, james's tulip shaped guitar, billy's american colored red, white, blue fender with the rush sticker.....something stupidly simple and deeply affecting about hearing the word free sung over and over in a song.

mayonaise always brings back lovely memories of slow dancing in a darkened gym at grade 6 and 7 dances circa 1993 and i remember feeling the slowburn guitar blaring through the sound system and resonating through my body as we danced. a popular slow dance song at that time. a moment of total bliss.

one last comment

live versions of Silverfuck always made feel like this was the be all end all of rocking songs, earliest versions from 92 just completely leave me annihilated, like sonic youth's express way to your skull was maybe one the most intense live songs i've ever experienced (although the album version is much mellower) and they're trying to one up them with a version even more mind blowing live

"Tonight, Tonight". I fell in love with the song when I first heard it when my brother put on Mellon Collie for the first time. I never stopped loving the song and I think it will always be my favorite Pumpkins song.

Every Pumpkins album is different so it depends what era I'm in the mood for. But I usually gravitate to Billy's more tender songs on every album.

Tonight Tonight was the first song I had ever heard by the Pumpkins, and it's probably still my favorite. The grandiosity, the lyrics, the guitar tone, love everything about it.

I just think it has this really beautiful feel and sound to it. Billy's voice sounds giant and expansive. I sometimes get colors from songs and the voice and synths give it a blue icey kind of feel to it. It is kind of hard to explain! But it was so different from anything I had heard with little to no guitar in it and the drum loop is just heaven to me. It always makes me remember a time I was on a ferry going to Holland and feeling the wind and the cold probably makes me have the icey blue association to it. :happy:/>

It's been 1979 since I first saw the video on MTV back in 1995/1996. Something about that song just brings every single happy memory I've ever had to the surface.

Bodies
Brutal riff. Speaks to me about relationships growing up and the death of 'self'.
I'm getting old now but still too angry to give more than a nodding appreciation for the more 'beautiful' songs! :happy:/>

I think the great thing is about the pumpkins is I could pick another 20 songs or so that I feel just as strongly about as my top 11.

I mean 1979 not on my list but it is hands down one of the greatest pop single's of all time..

simply the best band of all time.
