The SD cover more meh to me.
I'd say the Adore cover is one of the best.

I could never tolerate the cover. When my older sister gave me a tape of SD for my birthday the first thing I thought was "Wow, what a stupid album cover", and my opinion on that hasn't changed since. I didn't know that the two girls were conjoined twins until years later due to the cover on the tape being so small, but that's hardly done anything to sway my opinion. In fact, it's made me even less enthusiastic about it.

I agree. Adore's cover looks cool and fits the mood of the album perfectly.

I've always felt the cover and supplemental artwork for Mellon Collie was really beautiful.

Tottally! And it's iconic, it describes the whole epic nature of the album.

the cover is really lame! i´m looking forward to the album, but i fear that the songs aren´t strong enough.

quasar - heavy song, stupid lyrics, no melody
the celestials - got potential, nice song
one diamond, one heart - nice ballad, sounds zwanish
pinwheels, good start, no highlight during the song, kind of a filler
pale horse - see pinwheels

glissandra - pretty nasty
wildflower - zwanish

Troll much?
j/k de gustibus non disputandum est that being said, i strongly disagree with almost everything you just said. You must be my true nemesis.

Oh and pumpkins covers have always defined a certain musical era and all stood out in its own way, sd and mcis became even part of the collective unconsciousness. And the oceania cover to me evokes a powerful atmosphere of desolation. Hence the horrendous clip of one diamond one heart and zwanny feel overall made me eyebrow my brows off

More power to you. Early Pumpkin albums up to and including Mellon Collie all had boring, ugly covers.

They're not conjoined twins. As far as I know, the two girls aren't even related.

I'm kind of out of the loop with how this album is being released or what this "imagine experience" is. Is it being streamed before it is released? It's kind of hard to quickly find this stuff in a 117-page thread, which is one shortcoming of only allowing one thread per topic, even if it is quite a large topic.

Rotten Apples artwork and SD reissue artwork shows the girls are not conjoined... unless they were when they even younger

Gish is not even in the same league as SD and MCIS ... To me it's an incredible debut album but the songwriting doesn't hit me emotionally and the heavier songs sound limp compared to the muscular might that billy brought to later songs as well as live versions of Gish songs. I think Siva is a powerful song in concert but on the album it sounds so weak.

i get so much shit for saying this but i think gish is there worst album. yah even behind zeitgeist, keep in mind i like zeitgeist.

sadly i missed hearing the clips....but this is what i've taken from the last few pages here:

the replies that talk of billy's vocals being too loud have my stomach turning in awful directions...the mixing ALONE killed zeitgeist.

This album will be very enjoyable. From the songs already out I'm enjoying listening to them. Panopticon and Oceania the ones I most listen to. But that's what's nice about albums, in context the songs gain. And songs you didn't get so much you will later. Should be a good time :)/>

I feel excited now that it's soon.

Your reasoning is hilarious: since I don't like SD that automatically means that I "lack in anything remotely considered good taste". LOL. How old are you, like 15?

I could turn this around on you since you're obviously trolling me here by saying that I'm "blatantly stupid" and such, but at the end of the day I really don't care what you think about me and what SP songs/albums you like. If you've got a problem with me go ahead and PM me, hell I'll give you my number so we can talk. Otherwise don't be a troll and just keep your opinions about me to yourself.

Nothing's wrong with me, what the fuck's wrong with you? :p/>

I feel I've been pretty clear here, I don't like cover of SD or the music on the album. I feel it's over-rated. I've had the album, and was familiar with "Disarm" and "Today" from radio/MTV of course, but I could never get into it. I seriously tried too.

When I got Machina my copy came with Still Becoming Apart CD that has the acoustic version of "Mayonaise" on it which I love, but the SD version with the balloon guitar noises and such just totally ruins even that song for me, so I've just stuck to the acoustic version.

as long as the music is good i don´t give a fart about the album cover.

after hearing the clips i´m a bit pissed that there´s pretty much zwan in it...... that´s really disappointing. and honestly : have u ever heard a bandmember talking badly about an upcoming album? so , no wonder that fiorentino loves the tracks she´s playing on.

so we have to wait and in the meantime i´m listening to neil youngs new album. at least u know what u get from good ol´neil

Nah. Its public message board so ill go ahead and keep my opinion of your taste out in the open. Please see my original post for said opinion. You expressed your opinion about SD, and I expressed my opinion of your opinion. It really isn't that complicated. Freedom of expression is a great thing isn't it?.

More power to you for hiding behind the wall of conformity with your hipster notions. :thumbsup:/>

I'm sure someday you'll be able to think for yourself and develop your own thoughts and opinions on what you like and don't like. When that happens you'll learn how to respect other people's opinions when they differ from yours instead of attacking them simply because their views aren't the same as yours.

I've got faith in you with this, go get 'em tiger!

oh man this guy is great, not in the complimentary sense but that hes really fucking entertaining to watch.

Its not hipster notations cause that makes absolutely no sense, seriously that translates out to saying hipster series of a symbols, or hipster notes....duh fuck does that even mean

also i really hope to god this guy at least has the mental capacity to realize that hipster's united has nothing to do with actual hipsters but instead is just referring to a lyric in the song cherub rock.

Really calling anyone a hipster here is contradictory now that i think about it. If we are following the new trend only then why would we be listening to a band that's been around for 20+ years. Either your the best troll out there or your just a good argument to support aboriton

Hipster's united hasn't even been referenced in this discussion so I'm not sure how this is relevant here. And I was referring to the elitist, supposed "non-conformist" attitude coming from DeepPurple.

You should really follow the discussion if you wish to participate in it.

It took me until the release of the reissues to get into Gish.

its not that i cant get into gish its just that i prefer the rest of their stuff, i do think snail and bury me are some of their best. The reissue did make the album better though.

I'm the one being trolled on here.

All I said was that I don't like the early Pumpkin albums. Instead of getting into an interesting discussion, it's led to such responses as calling me a "troll" and that I'm "blatantly stupid, and lacking in anything remotely considered good taste" as well as being an example that I'm "just a good argument to support aboriton [sic]".

I'm no saint, but I haven't gone to such extremes as DeepPurple and ItsSoPringles in regards to trolling here. I even offered to give my number to DP so we could discuss this but he insisted on keeping his trolling insults on a public form as "Its public message board so ill go ahead and keep my opinion of your taste out in the open".

Of course, I'm the troll here. :rolleyes:/>

hell guys, let´s discuss the album.

i mean the real question is: are there any songs on oceania that could be as good as stand inside your love, or hummer, or tonite tonite, or ava adore, or perfect, or even rotten apples? what i hear from the clips is a clear NO

but somehow i hope there is at least one really good song on it........

not having a single means, not having a stand out song

i´ve just been on several music sites (german) and the smashing pumpkins are not even schedulded on june´s release dates. so i guess that those (well known) music pages have no clue or find it unnecessary to point out that the sp will release an album. i´m pretty pissed about the lack of information about the forthcoming album as well as the promotion.

i´ve talked to some older pumpkins fans and they told the they had listened to zeitgeist and teargarden, but quit after widow wake my mind... i still got a bit of hope, but i find myself listening to the pumpkins very seldom nowadays

I sympathize. I got into the Pumpkins via Mellon Collie and later. I LOVE Siamese now, but it took me awhile to appreciate what it was doing. There's a certain sameness to the whole thing. Its melodies aren't always as engaging. It's so perfect to at times sound sterile.
