Was there a quote from Billy that venues have not been booked yet, or is that just your assumption?

I read it in an interview around when Oceania was released. Of course he did so many interviews that I can't remember which one..

take a casual fan to this show with this setlist and they might leave pissed that they only played Tonight, Tonight.

I think the current setlist makes plenty of sense. And if they were going to change the setlist it would only make sense come the US tour because the 2nd part has pretty much been played already here

True enough but I still think that people might appreciate switching up the setlist a bit, so perhaps keep a couple more of the more popular singles, while throwing in stuff like I Am One or Rocket instead of say Bullet or Zero occasionally. It's hard to balance a setlist of course. I still like all those songs, but it would be great to have a couple of more songs that the non-casual fan can appreciate as even a change of a pace. And yeah since the second part has already been played basically in the US, it would make sense to switch it up a little bit.

Keep Zero, XYU, Soot and Stars. Replace the rest...

Tonite Reprise IS nice to hear, but I never want to hear Tonight Tonight live again after seeing it in 2008. It sounded amazing on the 20th Anniversary Tour. The horn section, string section, and Jimmy's drums. Billy always carries his weight guitar and vocal-wise, but the drums are a huge part of the studio recording. Add to that the orchestral arrangement, and how well they replicated it on Jimmy's last ride with SP. Amazing.

Mike's drumming is exceptional, no denying that. He's gotten much better since 2009. However, I barely even noticed that they played Tonight Tonight at the 2010 show I went to, because it lacked the atmosphere and the drumming was not powerful enough.

As for the Oceania front-to-back thing, I'm all for it. The strongest album he has put out in 12 years in its entirety? Bring it on. All four band members more than pull their own weight on the record (and on the 2011 tour as well). Mike included. Anything played beyond Wildflower is just icing. Well, now I guess I'm gonna contradict myself and say that the only single I want is Zero. Lose the covers. Keep Soot and Stars, as well as XYU.

Either way, I'm going. Hopefully something comes close.

Tonight, Tonight is my favorite song, so it's hard for me to say no to that song haha. Zero is good but I could actually do without. Okay so maybe mine was a more of wishlist. Although I left on a bunch of my favorite songs off there, so it's not my perfect ideal setlist. But I do think that they could switch out some of the singles for others as I said before.

I've seen another band do the "new album then hits" set and it really worked. I love Oceania so I'd love to see this setlist, plus XYU and Soot & Stars too.

I seen the Sydney show last night, Oceania sounds FANTASTIC live and everyone really seemed to be enjoying it. The Celestials, Violet rays and Inkless were the standouts, the band and Billy all sounded fantastic... the visuals kicked ass as well!

saw the show last night. it was pretty good, band seemed tight. i was surprised by how much billy let's jeff play these days, he plays a lot of leads and solos that BC would have back in the old band.

also, people have to get it through their heads that the singles will always be apart of the show. not playing their big hits would be suicide. a setlist of 13 new songs, 1 cover, 1 deep cut, 2 obscure b-sides and 7 signles is hardly something to sneeze at anyway.

I haven't posted here on before so yay go me, but saw this video on youtube of Glissandra performed in Sydney yesterday but looks like something goes wrong or falls off Billy's guitar around the 2:20 mark, he laughs and shows Jeff!

Love Oceania btw! I'm in New Zealand and am counting down the sleeps til the concert this weekend :)/>

Totally agree man, Jeff is a very talented guitarist and it's great the Billy gives him the opportunity to showcase his skills.

His whammy bar fell off the guitar. It was cool to see him laughing about it and not freaking out!!

I saw them at Sydney on Tuesday as well. Missed them the last time they came round, so this was the first Smashing Pumpkins show I've been to. Couldn't have hoped for a better show, it was amazing from start to finish =)

That place looks PACKED from that picture atleast and that arena is pretty big. So, if they got that good of a turnout in those flooded conditions, I think I underestimated their popularity in the Philippines.

As far as the songs go, they posted a link on the Pumpkins facebook page listing the twitter updates Billy made BEFORE the show. However, when I woke up today and was reading the comments, there were a few fans posting songs (which since they were time stamped a few hours after the original posting by SP, it would be during the show), I wonder if these songs were played, or just someones hopes. One person posted that they "loved Rotten Apples". Another posted a bunch of deep cuts from MCIS such as galapogos, to forgive, bodies, stumbleine, etc. I have a feeling all those were not played, but if they were that would be fantastic to hear.

Wow, the setlist looks great. I thought the last time we heard 1979 at one of the June festival sets it sounded phenomenal. I'll be curious to see how Stand Inside Your Love comes across; that's one that's a;ways sounded weak live to me (in the boots anyways :p/> )

This is my first post, hi everyone! I've been a pumpkins fan since the early 90s (after hearing the Lull EP), but have never had the opportunity to see them live. I was at the concert in Taipei last night - here's the setlist:

Zero
Bullet with Butterfly Wings
Today
Luna
The Celestials
Violet Rays
My Love is Winter
Tonite Reprise/Tonight, Tonight
Ava Adore
Cherub Rock
Oceania
1979
Space Oddity
XYU
Disarm
The Chimera
Starla
Pinwheels
Black Diamond
Muzzle

It was a great show, and I was really happy they did Starla, which I wasn't expecting.

Sorry, missed a song - between The Chimera Starla they played Inkless. I was surprised they didn't play Quasar and Panopticon.
