Identical vocal style unique to SD era. Not earlier, not later.

I hope not. This isn't super strong.

Hence why it was a "lost" unfinished song.

Indeed. Just because it's an acoustic demo (like many MCIS b-sides) does not equate it as being from that period. There are acoustic demos from all eras. It being reminiscent of Meladori doesn't equate MCIS either (especially since Meladori was an SD era track anyway).

As far as the track goes, I quite like it. It's grown on me over multiple listens. Very nice.

Billy had previously mentioned SD era tracks that had the kernel of something special. I believe he also said they were of him playing on the piano, so I'd wager a guess this wasn't one he was referring to. Regardless, unfinished tracks can be quite special and be abandoned for any number of reasons. Look at She Says-- not necessarily a great song, but one that had promise. I think Blissed was dropped because there's nothing much there to work with.

Of course, it's nice to hear.

I can't be bothered to dig up the quotes, but the piano song was something entirely different than the stuff that was found on the same tape as the acoustic Rocket demo.

Are these the quotes you two are referring to? Around the 14 minute mark and on?

I am not banking on Billy having any time to go back and "finish" some of those songs. It is a nice idea but he is probably going to be too busy to do it.

That's one of them. There was another instance where he talked about finishing up some acoustic things that were on the same tape as an acoustic demo of Rocket. I can't recall if it was a video/audio interview or Bill's Corner or what

I said it sounded as an early pumpkin song (like Vanilla), but I bet it's from SD/MCIS... Purr Snickety came to my mind too.

I'm loving this song. listening to it though, it really reminds me of Dave and Tim live recordings. go sample the album Live at Luthor College. the style is very similar.

I just got mine today! I'm not in to vinyl, and have never seen a flexi. do I use it as is, or am I supposed to "punch it out" of the square, so that its a circle?

use it as is.
but beware that you will likely have to weigh down the edges (use a quarter or some tape). Otherwise it might sound weird when you play it

Very cool song indeed, hopefully it will show up somewhere along the lines, be it on Itunes, or on the Pumpkins store/record club page or whatnot...

I'll play... The lyrics have that blend of meaninglessness and stupidity that marks the Gish era, but I doubt it's a studio outtake from the Gish sessions, because they were too short and focused. So I'll guess it was recorded before Gish, but not too long before because the music sounds a lot more 1990-91 than 1988-89. That'd put it in the 'missing link' pile with Translucent, Jesus Is the Sun, etc.; too late to be '1989 demos', and not good enough to be considered for the debut.

That's a good way to refer to those songs. I'm really hoping the archive project someday sheds more light on the "missing link" era, especially considering my love of Translucent.

The same thing happened to me. I was honestly surprised to get the e-mail for the flexi disc. I thought that I got removed from the list after complaining and that Brad guy from TopSpin realizing that he gave me a refund after the product got shipped lol
On a side note, I gave away both box sets as part of a contest on Crestfallen.com...it didn't feel right to keep them x)
