So just how do you organise TBK in iTunes?

Best solution for me was to give the EPs different album names so that at least the different artwork was visible, and to make the bonus songs track 1.

and dunno if I bothered with the artwork...i'll have to look into that as well again

Although I'm putting everything under one album, I'm still using the different album art. It won't be visual in menus, but it is when the song is playing. Here's the art I'm using:

A Song For a Son:

Freak:

Spangled:

Cottonwood Symphony (this one doesn't really fit. It was just on the file when I downloaded it and I decided not to get rid of it.):

I'm trying to make it fit the best I can. I'm pretty anal retentive with music filing and all.

Maybe I'm not understanding your reasoning, but if you're that anal retentive, how come you have the EP1 artwork for ASFAS and then Spangled gets the EP2 artwork and Cottonwood Symphony's is actually the artwork that accompanied Spangled on SP.com?
And how come Teargarden Theme as no genre?

And I guess I just forgot to put in a genre for the Teargarden Theme. But genres aren't as important to me in tagging music files, because it's hard to categorize a lot of music into specific genres, anyways.

I am trying to use both the download and EP covers. Since I can't really use two pictures for one song, I use one picture for the opening song and one picture for the next track. Spangles also cannot have two pictures, so I'm just using the picture on Cottonwood.

I don't know, I feel like that the physical artwork was meant to be displayed on the physical covers and the mp3 covers are just that, for the mp3s.

I haven't put Cottonwood in, as it just doesn't fit into the rest properly, IT sounds like a completely different B-side, while Theme actually sounds like the opening piece
I actually put Cottonwood in with the unreleased stuff from my If All Goes Wrong album ( with mama and etc ). Fits a little more there

cottonwood is a b-side, stick in another pile and wait for more b-sides or leave it at the end of EP2
I've got it in one album, but each EP is set to a different "disc". Hence, the corresponding songs have the right artwork.
Teargarden Theme first, Cottonwood last.

I'm thinking that the purple-ish tinged mp3 artwork is the correct one. they really fucked this EP's artwork up :|
when freak came out, it was just a cropped version from the flash player. Freak iTunes single had a slightly better one, they had a larger sized one on their facebook and now i've noticed that they have a new purple tinged artwork that is sized the same as the EP1 mp3 artwork.

As for myself, I have organised the songs in such a way that they are not included in any of my media player's libraries, because I hate all of them.

you gotta factor in for all the different versions of tbk that there will be by the end. I just dump everything into my itunes and let it fall how it will. THEN i organize it all in the form of playlists. I do 1) free download mix; 2) EP mix; and EP plus vinyl mix. For the download mix, I use the ACTUAL downloads. For the EP mix I use cd rips. And for the mix including vinyl, I add vinyl rips of the vinyl-exclusive songs. Here's how it goes.
Download mix:
Song for a son
Widow
Stitch
Astral
Freak
Spangled
Tom Tom
Fellowship
EP mix:
SFAS
Astral
Widow (extended of course)
Stitch
Fellowship
Freak
Tom Tom
Spangled
Vinyl mix:
TBK Theme (vinyl)
SFAS
Astral
Widow (extended of course)
Stitch
Fellowship
Freak
Tom Tom
Spangled
Cottonwood (vinyl).
i think i saw somewhere that astral planes is extended on the vinyl released on record store day?
would be great to hear this.

I think this thread exhibits the beauty in the whole idea of the format this "album is being released, because we can pick and choose the order of the songs ourselves, and we the audience become part of the actual process of the album by dictating it to our tastes.
As for myself, I have organised the songs in such a way that they are not included in any of my media player's libraries, because I hate all of them.
Um. Could whoever deleted my reply to this please pm me? I'd like to find out why... It was meant as dry and humorous, and not altogether serious, so I hope it wasn't considered "excessive negativity". There was certainly no "hate" in it.
