Same. Haven't frequented these parts in a while - But the draw of the 'Archive Project' actually happening is just too strong.

Anyway, I'm good thanks - yourself?

busy as fuck, got the promotion and chased my boss out of his job. feels good to be in charge, but its tough for me to get respect from my crew as I have been their co-worker for so long. Its the buddies-to-employees problem. They still see me as a fun co-worker rather than the one calling the shots, I just gotta start cracking the whip.

Probably if you listen to all the stuff you know which stuff pops as interesting or cool to listen to. Lets hear those. Or stuff that a has a little story behind it. All eras are good.
I'd look forward to the Chicago songs too when ever their time comes. Also zwan. I imagine songs created in between one era and the next would be interesting. Maybe you can hear like a transitioning of sounds, like one of the songs already on sprc

im going through some old material, trying to be useful. I found a version of "Silverfuck" from the Lowlands Paradise Fest. Dronten Belgium 8-27-93 would be a great live release :)/>

Next on the list, brought up by that good man i forget the name of. MCIS unreleased tracks.
That said, you want to stay in-era, I want a big ol' pre-gish set (primarily the more pop-like songs) but i believe some of that is slated for Pisces rerelease?

I couldn't agree more with people recommending a detailed list of whats even available. Even if the whole thing wasn't completed in one day, and had new things added as they were found. It'd be nice knowing what you guys have access to, in what formats and to be able to cast some amount of weight from us what we'd like from that list. Then directing SPRC's attention to whats going to make the most amount of money first. Even if the plan is to break even, there has to be something that's profitable which can help channel into releasing the not-so-profitable material later.

Make that, and you'll know what everyone wants and whats feasible to do.

Any b-sides from all the albums.
Any demos.
If this exists- the re-recorded Adore album with Jimmy on drums.

I'll take just about anything.

My biggest concern before even thinking about what could possibly be released is if TopSpin is going to be used. After their clusterfucked handling of the Gish and Siamese Dream reissues I'd be worried about even ordering a piece of chewed bubble gum from them. If they will be used, I hope they have gotten their heads out of their asses, because if there is another big time screw up it would surely kill this project.

I personally would trust someone with the ability to be objective over what they listen to, rather than blindly love everything a single man puts out.

The idea that a diverse group of fans from a variety of eras are going to come up with a consensus on what to release, never mind format and price, without any sort of guidelines or choices is frankly ludicrous. Just read this thread. breathesgelatin is most interested in post-2000, Drevpile is most interested in Jimmy Chamberlin ( ;)/> ), a few people *aren't* interested in the Metro DVD, which in my mind is the closest you would ever get to a consensus (and isn't even in contention anyway since it's going to be released with Machina or Machina II or something).

If anyone thinks that someone is going to make a magical, perfect suggestion and everyone else will rally around it and then an orderly process will emerge for selecting a format and price, etc. etc., they are dreaming, and this is not because of "negativity" in the Pumpkins community or any crap like that. Billy's had a long career, people became fans at different times, people have different interests and different price points. The Lucky 13 should come up with their best idea for a first release, put it on Kickstarter, and see what happens. The idea that everyone shouting their favorite 3-second Pastichio Medley clip is raw data that can be analyzed is just absurd.

that means you dont blindly love everything he does.
And im not saying you should think all of it is bad, but someone who shows objectivity is a person better suited to a job of being objective.

Actually I think it's an excellent idea to survey the fan base. Of course you will not get a pure consensus there's no such thing. But when you talk about stuff with many other people ideas combine and collide and creativity is enhanced. It's also engaging for people to have input. You may learn that lots of people are interested in a particular time, others are more quality driven, some are just happy for anything, some may like really raw stuff...

Releases will probably be qualitatively diverse anyway as there is so much to consider. This just makes it better in my opinion. One of the main reasons I love this music is that it is diverse.

-Double Door 1995 shows (MTV might own the video?) My desire for this far exceeds the "Last Show". MCIS early material, live and raw. I would love a DVD set or CD set, but at minimum for the love of god release the audio as a digital download. Of course this would be amazing as the MCIS remake bonus, but my feeling is that if ANYTHING was going to launch support for some sort of "live bootlege archive" or even a physical standalone release, that this would be it.
-What about some of the FULL shows that were represented on the Viewphoria video? Like that whole 4 night stand at Astoria Theater in London? Similar to the Double Door, these shows were LEGENDARY back in the day. Would LOVE a compilation DVD of those shows, option to buy live audio only, or some combination of both.

My personal favorite years for pumpkin touring are 1992, late 1993, and early 1994. I would take ANYTHING from that era as it covers when they had already mastered playing the Gish material, and were just breaking out the SD material (as well as lots of B-Sides). These just always sound like the most "fun" shows to me, and generally the live recordings are grossly underrepresented for how good they were.

From my understanding EVERYTHING was taped on MCIS tour and later, so of course there should be plenty of professional quality audio to choose from there. But any uncovered 1992-1994 shows are bound to be the real gems for me, and I really wonder how much material there is.

Some specific things I'd like to see

Video:
The Adore Documentary (with The Viper Room 1998)
The Double Doors Video
The Arising Tour

Live Audio Shows:
Any Resume the Pose show

Unreleased songs:
LMGTWTY

I would love all these things too. Especially The Arising and Viper Room/Adore Documentary stuff, and Let Me Give the World To You (I know some people who have apparently heard it don't like it, but I would love to hear it, whether or not it measures up to the Machina II version).

I mentioned this on their Facebook before I think but I will run down some of the pre-2000 stuff I would want, since the post-2000 seems to be off the table for the time being:
-Graceful Swans of Never documentary in an official release. I imagine this may have been the documentary they intended to include with the Metro DVD when Billy first announced it in 2001 though. It would be interesting if the documentary was expanded to include post-reunion documentary footage about the band's rebirth too.
-If they exist, earlier demos of songs like "Stand Inside Your Love" (if they recorded the 'new wave' version Billy talked about during storytellers) or an Arising! style "Wound" demo.
-Pro-shot video, if it exists, of the free concert in Minneapolis (July 17, 1998). It was memorable for me because I got to go to it, but it's pretty memorable show in general since 150,000 people showed up to see the band play.
-I think it was Arthur that mentioned the possibility of Vieuphoria-style video releases for each era, that would be cool.
-RottingApples and Geofolkers I believe both mentioned Brixton Academy (96), I would love that as well.

and:

at least 1 full show from the first leg of the infinite sadness tour (i want the glorious alt. rocket version in pijama)
1996-05-02 (cascais, portugal) - in billy's own words
everything from 1994

Listen up Lucky 13, people are beginning to agree on something

-Double Doors
-Arising Tour
-Adore OR Machina Demos(?) I thought I saw a couple of these

Personally, I'd re-active smashingpumpkinslive.com and start putting shows up on there. The Rolling Stones are 'opening their vaults.' $5 for a show download, releasing new ones every 3 months or so.

Surely, live material aside, we can't really know what we're asking for until we've discounted stuff likely to be included on the re-release bonus discs... Let Me Give The World To You and Cash Car Star, for example, are such an obvious contenders for the Adore Disc 2 that there's almost no need to discuss them here.

Will these conversations effect the content of those discs? I suspect not- they'll presumably be Billy's visions, and rightly so. Thus we can only really draw up (for example) our Pre-Gish-Wish-List once the PI re-release is out the way, can only talk about Pistachio Medley tracks once MCIS/TAFH are done with.

For what it's worth I'd like to see a decent collection of Pre-Gish demos, presented in full and in context in a physical form. The 'Moon' and 'Smashing Pumpkins' tapes given proper CD releaes would be nice. Isn't there some mention of demoing done pre-Gish that was intended as 'the first album' before Virgin came along, mentioned in the recent Gish liner notes?

I still feel the best thing they could have done with the Pre-Gish material is to do a physical release (1 disc and deluxe 2 disc) and hype it as the "lost" 1st Pumpkins album. The best would end up on the main disc release, and whichever demos don't make it just end up on the bonus disc. I'd imagine that'd get a decent amount of press, and a wider audience for stuff like C'mon, Snap, Spiteface, Jennifer Ever, and There it Goes.

that is an insanely great idea. would give billy a chance to show whag the first album wouldve been before a major label got involved too.

The Lucky 13 team has the implication of being a group of 13 very dedicated fans with luck on their side because Billy actually cares what they think. We all know how unlikely that is. I'm willing to bet fives of dollars the Lucky 13 is just Monte. Especially if Mayfair isn't involved.

For people who are claiming not to care about the cloak-and-dagger anonymity, let me explain to you why others might care. If it's people involved in this community, then it's likely they are well-known. We will be able to gauge how excited to get over this project by whether or not we can trust the people involved. Personally, I'm not holding my fucking breath. I don't think there's anyone here I trust enough to light a fire under Billy's ass instead of just kissing it.

Sorry, I (Marie from ByStarlight.org) will respond to previous posts in a bit.

We will make a revised announcement and be public about the members - no worries.
We have nothing to hide and a few team members are webmasters/staff from spfc.org, spfreaks.com, crestfallen.com and bystarlight.org. It's definitely not all Monte - we all have a say and have specific roles in the team.

I think everyone here is right to be upset and concerned over this project, given past performance. This project means a lot to me too, but if it's not destined to work out than it's not destined to work out, I just don't think we should get so worked up we're jumping do each others throats. There's a great opportunity here, if it works out I'd like to see everyone be able to enjoy it without getting all hostile. As cynical as everyone is I just don't think it's fair to Lucky13 regardless of who they are to give them a hard time, especially if they are volunteering their own time. If this is the opportunity we've been waiting for I don't want to see it squandered by cynicism before it gets off the ground, I mean I'll be as disappointed as anyone else about it. Even if you don't feel inclined to give any more of Billy's projects a chance (once again totally understandable given previous efforts), if you're this concerned about it attacking each other is not going to make this project anymore of a reality. Please guys just be patient http://www.smashingpumpkins.com/board_new/public/style_emoticons/default/love.gif

We were patient with Quinto. It would be foolish to continue making the same mistakes! :whattodo:/>

What will being impatient this time get us? They obviously seem willing to listen to us, let's work with them. If something happens outside their control than it's outside their control. Billy has the reissues out, he seems intent on finally putting the Metro DVD out. I think now is the time to make things happen.

It's not a matter of being patient or impatient, for me. It's a matter of being patient or not even bothering to be hopeful. If things happen, that's really cool- and I'll be sure to give credit where appropriate credit is due. But I don't expect anything to happen, based on the ridiculously long ongoing history of these projects not going anywhere.

I mean, sorry to stick my foot in the potato salad, but we've been at this picnic for over a decade and no one has been allowed to eat anything, anyway.

Are you talking specifically about the archive project or in general? Billy has the reissues coming out, doesn't that count as something?

I think it was reasonable to ask for the Lucky 13 membership list. Given the long standing atmosphere of broken trust and suspicion within the fan community, this star chamber routine was a mistake. As TalkingHead said, it's also a matter of confidence. We've all watched the archive project crash and burn several times. Knowing there are knowledgeable, unbiased fans on the team might create some much needed faith in a successful outcome.

And, yes, I realize the chances Billy has hand selected 13 fans of that caliber are slim to none. Politely suggesting Mayfair run off and play in traffic on Netphoria (where, incidentally, most of SP's knowledgeable fans reside) didn't bode well. But I'm trying to maintain an open mind. :)/>

Sorry, that was a joke to Mayfair. I'll be sure not to do that again. I personally never wanted to be anonymous and I have been very open with the way that I run my site and the social media accounts. I really do intend on addressing any concerns and clarifying as much as possible. I am very open to dialogue and debates.

I would just like to point out that things are different now in terms of the archive project. In the past, Billy did not have full rights to everything (audio-wise) and sites like kickstarter did not exist. I know there is a lot to be skeptical about, but we made sure to have very knowledgeable fans in the team. There is also an open call for more of those fans to participate in the process. We have every intention of approaching this from a balanced standpoint. We do not think everything in the archive is great and neither does Billy. He very much considers SPRC releases as part of his musical legacy. As a team, we're only willing to recommend releases that we as a collective think are high-quality and can at least break-even to move onto the next release.

I'd guess orchidaii/SPpictures is involved too - in fact the diction of the oboard poster Lucky13 sounds like her.

As for the reissues... yeah, that is a thing Billy is doing, isn't it. First run through and it got massively fucked up.

because some people had to wait some days more than others to receive their boxes?
