MBV is its own beast though.

Yeah, I wouldn't want my eariler comments in the thread to be misinterpeted. I don't consider that era of MBV as rip-offs, or overly derivitaive.. just that there were obvious touchstones, so it suprises me that Corgan would have found them to be one of the most unique bands he had ever heard at that point in their exsistance.. I think of Loveless in those terms though

I find as I get older less and less music inspires me. I hear stuff that I like, but nothing cuts as deeply as when I was younger. Maybe that's where Billy is at.

That makes sense. I still think he'd be best served keeping an ear and an open-mind in regards to new muisc.

numéro trois:

Starla is easily in my top 5 SP songs. I wonder what it would have sounded like if it had ended up on SD.

I have downloaded the audio, removed the clips of I am One and Disarm during the videos, separated stories and songs to different tracks, quickly mocked up some cover art and uploaded to mediafire for your convenience. If people outside the US are having problems accessing these, let me know and I will upload them somewhere else.

Thanks a lot I could download everything from overseas.

Tip of the day though :
Even if there is an alert message (like the following one) when you try to download the cover ignore it and click on the "download image" link at the bottom. It works perfectly.

Wow, not sure how I am just seeing these. In my opinion one of the best, simple, candid, and subtle things Billy has done in a while.

Just raw, unfiltered, Pumpkins greatness. His voice is spot on. I love listening to him talking about the inception of the songs, his passion for music comes through in such a powerful way. Made my morning.

Something like this for Oceania would be an amazing promotional tool after the album hits. If this is anything what was discussed in terms of these new online experiences, then colour me an idiot because this is exactly the type of shit I crave.

See, exactly. Things like these aren't too much to ask. Simple, straight-forward, and consistent.

I wonder why the first two songs were from Gish and now we get Starla.

Why would he have recorded Starla if it's not even on the main discs for Gish and Siamese?

I spose as long as they're released frequently I'll be happy..

It reaches the raw emotion of the song. We feel the intimacy, so the vulnerability of the individual. When played electric and loud,it's as if we touch at the same emotion in everyone, felt collectively.

Beautiful!

It was recorded during the Gish era, released on the I Am One single, and was a heavy contender for Siamese Dream, as well as being a huge fan favorite. I like the selection we have so far for these videos: one album cut ("Daydream"), one "famous" song ("Rhinoceros") and a b-side. I hope we get to see "Snail" as this is my favorite song off Gish and Billy has mentioned it being one of has favorites.

I realise that. Was just baffled as to why there would be two Gish songs, then a b-side. I'd already labelled them 'Webisodes: Gish' in my iTunes..
Kinda leaves the door open for any song originally written or recorded in that period to end up as a webisode.

Has anyone looked at the page source code on their youtube page to see if the other videos are on there but commented out?

Very cool. Great performance of a song I've heard many times and a great explanation from Billy. I wish his notes in the album liner had been this sincere.

Updated to include disarm.

Seeing as how they're now apparently focusing on SD songs (given the intro to this video being cherub instead of i am one) I would say the only songs left are Today and Cherub Rock. Clips of these two songs being performed were heard in the first video where corgan talks about the two reissues in general.

Either way, great performance.

This really made me reconsider how much of an impact the entire Siamese Dream experience must have had on his life.

These clips are cool because I like the stories.. The vocals on the performances hurt the songs though. Disarm is especially neutered. It's too bad.

Excellent. I was so wishing the band would play an electric version in 2007 that I completely overlooked how great this version is, probably my favorite Siamese Dream song.
