I guess I'm not. I'm also not rich.

I wonder if these were going to be the special gift for the Topspin mess, and instead they decide to sell them.

obviously not. what a retarded thought.

they don't have enough of these old posters to give everyone who preordered one of the reissues. and even if they had enough, billy would never personalise hundreds of posters. even simply signing posters (or anything else), without personalising it, for everyone who preordered, is not something i see billy doing.

my guess is they're going to sell less than five of these posters on ebay, because that's all they have.

if there will ever be a gift, it's going to be something simple. i'm thinking sprc sticker, or something along those lines.
a personalised poster from 1991? lol!

I tried to click on the link above and...

"Unfortunately, access to this particular item has been blocked due to legal restrictions in some countries. We are blocking your viewing in an effort to prevent restricted items from being displayed. Regrettably, in some cases, we may prevent users from accessing items that are not within the scope of said restrictions because of limitations of existing technology. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause, and we hope you may find other items of interest on eBay."

What was so deviant about this poster ?? :scatch:/>
(or is it just "restrictions because of limitations of existing technology")

Seriously, $1000 really seems like an insult to me. I can't imagine anyone spending that on a poster. I thought $500 for a signed poster at the concerts was a lot until I saw this.

Thanks for your quick answer !

Let's hope the other posters are nicer than this one. Although it is rather old I've never really liked this photo that much.
If I had to spend a grand on a personalized poster it would be on something more arty than that !

Anyway I can't see any of those on ebay :excl:/> -still don't know why- so I guess, brothers, I'm going to spare several dimes...
(Yes I'm experiencing a financial crisis here, I had to pay for BandMerch shipping fares lately... ;)/>)

Is it a charity sale or does Billy lack of inspiration to spend his spare time?

LOL I thought you were talking about CAIC!

Money aside, my beef with signed stuff is that unless you get it in person you'll always be wondering if it's actually real.

Here's hoping there will be some promotional signings for Oceania.

they need money to print flyers to promote oceania.
$13,000 is a humble budget for promotion, but it's the best they can do.
the plan is to hand out flyers and tweet lies about mike b and what's-her-name-on-the-bass.

nice quoting, quote boy.

and if you're buying it off spmemorabilia on ebay, it's obviously going to be real. that's definitely not the issue here.

Posters 3, 8 & 12 are cool.

Maybe #5

I actually had the poster of them in the back of the van when it came out. I got it at a record convention & I know I paid less than $10 for it.

I'm always suspicious -not to say paranoid- about he origin of signed stuff...I have never bought any on eBay.
Anyone can draw a face in an autograph on a backstage pass, not only Jimmy...

I just don't get it. I can understand maybe $300 or $400 cause some of those posters are pretty tough, but $1000. That's the price of a Paul McCartney autograph, and almost as much as a U2 entire band autograph.

In 2010 I bought the Arising Poster, the one with the zombies or whatever rising up in the background, signed by Billy from the Pumpkins ebay store for $157. I thought that was pretty good, but $1000 just because it's personalized, no sir.

The only thing that makes sense to me is that when I bought the Arising Poster for $157, some of the other one's that sold before mine were selling for $400 and $500. In particular the Adore and the other Arising poster. So now, they get Billy to personalize them and jack the price up to a grand.

they should've gone for the normal auction.
now if they get one offer, they only have two days to accept or deny. if nobody else makes another offer on the same poster in that period of time, they don't know what other offers might still come, and it's going to be hard to make the right choice. maybe they'll deny a price that they wouldn't even reach in a normal auction. or give away a signed poster for nothing.

I can eventually see the posters for sale on ebay today. They are not banned on the french network anymore.
The price in euros is funny with the change: 774.65 € + 25.56 € (shipping costs to France)~800€ :shifty:/>

Still don't know why you can make a direct offer for only 5 of them (or maybe it is because those are definitely not the the rarest nor the most artistic ones...)

I'd pay $1,000 for the Gish/Lull poster if Billy personalized it to Netphoria and had Mike sign Jimmy's picture, Jeff sign JAmes' picture, and Nicole sign D'arcy's.

I'm gonna try. I expect it to go for around $30, maybe up to $50 but I doubt it. At least they're real autographs, cause there are always a bunch of fakes being sold on ebay.

the thing is personalized autographs make the value A LOT less than if it wasn't personalized... Having it personalized really detracts any value that it might be able to obtain on an open market... It might be nice for your own sake... but really who cares? Its not like you were hanging out with him and he made the autograph out to you...

If I bought one i'd request that it wasn't personalized.

Also a BC autograph with a big fat 2012 on a Gish poster wouldn't really be all that desirable to hard core collectors.

You are exactly right, about everything. Personalization absolutely kills the value of an autograph. Fair market value on a Billy Corgan autographed poster is about $150-$200.

Maybe the only reason I would want it personalized would be If I was giving it as a gift to a kid. A kid that likes Billy Corgan? It's possible.

Personalization is also kinda cool if you are, as Fuzzy says, in person actually conversing with the artist.

why would you buy a poster if the only thing in the back of your mind is how much you can sell it for later? that's a bit pointless, isn't it.

i don't really get the points of autographs myself. for me, they're completely worthless, unless you got them in person. (but i doubt i'd ever ask anyone to sign something for me.) a personalised poster would be the next best thing. at least then you know it got signed for you.

Resale value is not what I really meant. I was talking about fair market value.

Look at it this way, would you buy a tv for five times what it's worth? Would you spend $1000 on something that is only worth $200?

Billy could try to sell these things for $65,000 each if he wants to, because they're his to sell. The nice thing about all of this is that I don't have to buy any of these autographed posters. And I won't.

I'd pay $1,000 for the Gish/Lull poster if Billy personalized it to Netphoria and had Mike sign Jimmy's picture, Jeff sign JAmes' picture, and Nicole sign D'arcy's.

But you will post about how much you don't want them on a message board to hide the fact that you really do want these puppies.

I don't think that your reading comprehension is very good.

Of course I want them. When did I ever say that I didn't? I'm just saying the price is too high, and I won't purchase them at these prices.
