Just a quick note to any new collector of SP items, or someone that maybe getting back into it. Since the new album is out, recent prices of SP items on ebay.com has gotten out of hand. Please be patient and cautious when bidding. Most items will come up at a reasonable price if you keep looking for awhile. This may take a few years, but you typically can get what you want without paying too much for it.

Recently a CD Promo of The Celestials sold on ebay for $132.50! Seriously!?!? It is a song we all have access to, and it is just a CD with basic art. Others will be available and over time, the price WILL drop. This was WAY too much to pay for a 1 song promo cd.. JUST MY OPINION. Look at older promo cd's on ebay, the prices range from $6.00 to $20.00.

There is a one track cd promo for Freak listed at $99.99!! Please don't buy items at these prices, it only encourages more people to be ripped off. Of course you can pay what you want, but if it seems way to high, it's because it is!

Use sites like SPFREAKS.COM to help identify potential fraud issues with items. I have seen people ask here or at other sites what the item is worth (good idea!). Also, you can use different message boards to ask if anyone would sell you the item. There are also the traditional record stores (SHOCK!) that maybe able to help you out, go ask them!

Remember the band doesn't make a penny off of these secondary market purchases, and the person selling it, typically isn't the only one that has the item!

that's normal for the first copy of a promo cd that becomes available on ebay. some people don't want to gamble, and just want it asap. they don't care about spending $100+ on a promo.

normally more copies become available, and the price drops. but sometimes this doesn't happen. do you know in advance how rare a promo cd is?
i think it's safe to assume that for this promo, more copies will become available, and they will be more affordable.
on the other hand, how common are the promo cds for glow, freak, or the fellowship for example? you don't see those too often, do you?

I can understand the logic of wanting to get it, just in case. You are right, they can be rare and we just do not know how many will be pressed. But at the same time, just about everything I've ever wanted in regards to SP has become available. It may take some time, but they do pop up. It just takes away some of the fun for me when you pay extreme amounts of money for something that may or may not be worth it.

I can't believe the amount of vinyl being sold these days. It used to be very hard to locate some of these on vinyl, but now they seem to be everywhere. Bootlegs not among those I count.

And yes, GLOW (Which I'm currently waiting on to find), Freak and The Fellowship have been scarce, but not impossible to find. One reason maybe that they are still in the possession of the radio stations which received them? They haven't been passed on yet..? I see GLOW being a higher demand item, since as of this date, it is the only physical copy of that song. Where the others are available on the official releases.
