buying it on vinyl friday once I get paid.

I'm finding now that I have spotify(premium), I am being exposed to a lot more music and in turn have been buying records again for the first time in years. It's a really nice thing to support artists and I think that programs like spotify expose a lot more people to music very easily(and in turn give them incentive to purchase) that they'd otherwise steal without thinking twice.

I told myself that if this album was even moderately decent I would buy it and after listening to the stream I was pleasantly surprised.

Most balanced album since the pumpkins got back together.

Of course I promptly purchased it.

I bought the vinyl and mp3 album from Amazon. Both have been in heavy, heavy rotation and haven't been listening to much else.

i have yet to buy it, but i plan on it soon. Still yet to hear it actually i was gonna wait till i buy it. I kinda held off on it cause i was told it was really bad by a few people but the reviews and this place seem to say otherwise, all ive heard was one song on the radio and it sounded pretty good, not sure what the name was, they just said its from oceania, it started off really light with acoustic guitars and some synth then as it went on it got some electric guitars going. anyone know what song that was?

i was told that billy's vocals are really really bad, to much synth, and no melody.

I dont necessarily trust those people as only 1 of them is my friend and the others are either just acquaintances or friends of my friends. One of my friends said he liked it but only liked not loved. Then again this guy also listens to nickleback and likes screamo so i dont trust him either, the only people i trust musically never got into SP. Thats why i came here to see if the album was good or not.

and thank you for that, i do remember a lyric so can you confirm if it really is this song, I remember him saying "never let the summer XXXX never let your thoughts run free" in the rocking part

Yep that's Celestials. Not everyone loves the album. I personally do, but it has it's critics as well. Even here. Overall the reception has been mostly positive. I recommend the album to anyone who was ever an SP fan. I just hope people can enjoy it as much as I have. It has been a pure pleasure for me :)/>

i probably wont be hard to please, ive liked all the SP stuff even zeitgeist, only reason i put off BUYING the album is cause 2 other bands released their albums at the same time, motion city soundtrack's go and make do and mend's everything you ever loved. i have some spare cash after buying them so ill buy oceania soon.

though just a question, how are the vocals, even though i liked zeitgeist only thats the way and stellar's vocals did i actually like, the rest were either tolerable of just bad

I think te vocals sound much better than Zeitgeist and the other TbK stuff. The production is much better all around. And I liked Zeitgeist too but I totally agree about the vocals

thats relieving, ive always liked machina 1's vocals the most, that in between of the high pitched smoothness and normal deeper vocals made that album for me, does he at least reach that high pitched smoothness on this that only stellar and thats the way reached, and i think none of Teargarden reached

Don't worry about asking questions. It's an SP fan board so were all here to talk about this stuff! You can only edit a post for a couple of minutes after you put it up. After that, no luck. Unless you can get a mod to edit it

I preordered the vinyl and bought it from Amazon when it was on sale. Still thinking about purchasing the CD as well, depending on what I can gather about how worthwhile the booklet is.

Preordered the Vinyl from SP.com (which was a mistake cos it still hasnt shipped) and picked up a CD copy at a local store.

Have to admit though, this and Deftones - Diamond Eyes have been the only music I have obtained legally for quite awhile. I always go to concerts etc and buy merch, and to be honest I like the fact that bands need to tour to make money, as selfish as it is, we get to see bands down here in New Zealand more frequently now that artists make more from touring than from CD sales. I saw the pumpkins in 1996 and they didnt come back here until 2008! Since then they have been back again in 2010 and are here on August the 4th for the Oceania tour. :cheers:/>

Oceania is so good ihad to buy a separate copy for the car. I love Oceanias universal themes Billy tackles with for the win!!!! Edit: if you hear someone bumping Oceania in their car down the street, that is me promoting it. As a matter of fact I got pulled over the other day for bumping Oceania too loudly, the cop only wanted to know who i was playing and then let me go :)/> God i love myself.
