So I recently order TAFH box set on amazon. Got it used. Everything was perfect till I got to the last cd BWBW. The CD tracklist says it has 7 songs. The wikipedia for it says it has 7 songs. I put it in my laptop, 2 songs. Try my CD changer, 2 songs.

I email the guy and he says apparenly they made 2 different copies of this cd...one has only 2 songs, the other has 7. He is nice enough to order the CD and send it to me. It finally comes today, and again only 2 songs. Are there hidden tracks and I am just too stupid to find them, or are their legitimately 2 copies and he just sent me the wrong one twice? Thanks for the help.

On mine it has the seven tracks. Bizarre. I could easily be wrong on this, but it kind of sounds like the guy is ripping you off.

Granted, he didn't just disappear, so uh. Maybe not. Bummer. :mellow:/>

The Bullet single was first released with 2 tracks. It came out with 7 tracks when it was repackaged for the box set. It definitely shouldn't have 2 tracks if it's legitimately from the box set.

Yes... original BWBW single 2 tracks. TAFH version 7 tracks... thing is, the actual CD looks the same for both.

You were shafted twice. The TAFH CD is definently 7 tracks, which is ONLY available with TAFH. I'd ask for a full refund as you can buy the BWBW single for pennies.

Well everything else seems to be right, except apparently that bullet CD. He ordered the 2nd CD that was sent to me from someone else and had them send it to me, so it does seem like he was legitimately trying to help. I got it for 20$ and when I see what other people are paying for the box I think i got a pretty good deal to not let 5 missing songs spoil it for me. I'll go find them somewhere else. Glad all you guys could be of some help though.

I love "Dreaming".. seems like not many on here do. .But yeah.. i remember back in the day when bullet was released as a single.... bought the single ..and it had said sadly with it as the only extra track...
yep i doubt the guy is deliberately trying to pull one on you as that would be pointless.

If he picked it up elsewhere then it probably isn't his fault in some ways, but having 4 full sized jewel cased EP's and 1 slimline would of made me wonder, it's probably why he sold it on and is being so helpful as he's been rumbled. I wouldn't hold up too much hope in finding a BWBW replacement on ebay, as i said, the 7 track BWBW was only available with the boxset. One in a blue moon i see empty TAFH boxes being sold and even less the actual EP's from the disc. You see the official release EP's being sold all the time.

Do me a favour, check the other 4 discs for me and tell me if they have barcodes please.

Ill check out the barcodes when I get home, currently at work. Didnt notice anything weird about the jewel cases.

For your first point however, all the Jewel cases were normal size. Even the Bullet CD that was only 2 songs came in the normal size jewel case with all the full artwork, and the back of the CD has all 7 songs listed, so it appears that the CD was supposed to be the one with all 7 songs, but somehow I got just the CD with the bullet single and said sadly.

If you're interested in getting the songs from BWBW TAFH version you can get it on itunes in the bsides and rarities massive 'box set' release. You can purchase the songs individually - provided that you don't already have them

You may have specified this and I missed it, but I just want to confirm: you DID get the box, right? Not just the five discs with their respective jewel cases and inserts?

When you mentioned their being only two tracks, I immediately knew it wasn't the box set version of the BWBW single, as others have pointed out. And if there was no box, that'd clinch it. But if there wasn't, I'd think that'd be a pretty big issue to you, and you'd mention it. But just making sure.

It's odd that you have the case for it and the wrong CD :scatch:/>

If any of the other 4 CD's have barcodes then they aren't the original disc. Just trying to ascertain the damage that's all.

hotoriousDICK has a good point, if you're not too fussed about it then it's easy enough to get ahold of the tracks. I'm just looking at this from a collectors point of view that's all

I dont see any barcodes that I can tell. Im guessing you mean on the jewel cases. Yes, I got the box and the lyrics book. All 5 CDs are regular size jewel cases, that come with what appears to be the original inserts and stuff but seeing as its the first time I am seeing the box set cause I never owned it before I guess I couldnt know for sure. The back of the bullet jewelcase artwork has a Rocket under 2 rainbows and a bunch of kids in some for of orchestra on the back. While I am not a collector I do have almost every CD SP has put out. It would be nice to have the complete right set, but having 1 CD be off when I can still get the right 5 songs somewhere, doesnt seem to make sense for me to send it back for a refund of 20$ when I know most places I could buy the box would cost me at least 5-10$ more, and whos to say for sure that I would get anything more right from those people.

These are the cds that are part of the box set:
http://www.spfreaks....ETAILS&item=303 (bullet)
http://www.spfreaks....ETAILS&item=305 (1979)
http://www.spfreaks....ETAILS&item=307 (zero)
http://www.spfreaks....TAILS&item=1790 (tonight)
http://www.spfreaks....ETAILS&item=470 (33)

And this is one of the spfreaks.com entries about the box set as a whole:
http://www.spfreaks....ETAILS&item=700

To check if you received a proper box set, or if one or more items have been replaced with the cd single that was sold separately, you should compare your inserts and cds with the scans on spfreaks.com.

As mentioned before, the artwork from the box set singles does not contain any barcodes. Also, cds from the box set will have a single page insert (all the info is in the box set booklet). For other possible differences, you'll have to have a closer look yourself.

To check if a cd has been replaced, compare the release code present on the cd. If the code contains "V25F", then it's definitely not a cd that was originally released in the box set. But you should compare the codes on your cd with the codes on the scans to be certain. And if you want to be really certain, compare the matrix code. This is the code on the back of the cd, near the hole in the centre.

Obviously a cd that has got only two tracks instead of seven is not going to be an original box set cd. But maybe other items of your box set have been replaced. So check away!

If they don't match the items on spfreaks.com, it is most likely that they've been replaced with American cd singles, as cd single releases from other countries were mostly released in a thinner case. Another option is though that they didn't replace the case or the artwork, but replaced only the cd.

For your information, these are the American cd singles:
http://www.spfreaks....ETAILS&item=302 (bullet)
http://www.spfreaks....ETAILS&item=304 (1979)
http://www.spfreaks....ETAILS&item=306 (zero)
http://www.spfreaks....ETAILS&item=311 (tonight)
http://www.spfreaks....ETAILS&item=312 (33)

It's weird that it would have only two tracks twice, while also having all 7 tracks listed. Was the second disc that was sent sealed? If not, then whoever sent the second one could have swapped out the 7-track version for the 2 track version for some reason. I have seen the 7 track version sold singly, but I believe that was just someone selling each individual CD on consignment from the box set or something.

yeah, sometimes you can find a bwbw single with seven tracks, but this is always a cd that comes from the box set. some people sell them individually for whatever reason.

It's supposed to have 7 tracks and the version is exclusive to the set. Sounds like you got the correct artwork but the wrong disc. The fact that the guy tried to hook you up probably means he is legit and hasn't a clue about the pumpkins. If you got the box for $20 and it is in good condition (with the extra booklet) one suggestion would be to sell of the discs individually. The main one of interest is the one you are missing. However, 1979 has an extra track which I think was exclusive to the set, tonight and 33 both combine the two cd single format to one disc. and then you have zero and now two copies of bullet. you could eaily sell them individually to cover $20 and a little extra, then look for a new box. plus as most are second hand and opened you'll have two nice boxes and a booklet (one for admiring and one to remain for posterity and a proper set). Just a thought! The extra tracks are good and you don't really own the set without the proper disc. There are also pirate 2 disc editions of all the box set tracks with alternate demos for the singles floating around. That way you have all the tracks in cd quality an alternative tracklisting and bonus track or two, all the packaging and even an extra bullet disc to use as a coaster! if you google you can find the pirate for $20 or so.

bad ideas, in my opinion. (what a mess.)

get a refund and a new box set. or look for the bwbw disc separately.
or if you're into this - but somehow i doubt this will do it for you - download the missing tracks.
the end.

it's not really that bad an idea...$20 is a good price and he wasn't totally stiffed...so sending it back seems like a waste of time. Downloading (for free) until he finds a replacement option is the easiest way to go but finding the 7 disc on its tod may be difficult. but yeah you were given te wrong disc in the right box. somebody either rolled over the original or decided to keep it for themseleves -- unlikely to be a manufacturing/retail mistake.
