I honestly say that'd be up there with Dark Side of the Moon/Wizard of Oz synch or "Echoes"/2001 A Space Odyssey synch.

there are 2 ways of doing it apparently, and that one on youtube is not the way I like to do, maybe I'll go find the way I like and post it because I think it works out better. The best parts are
Silverfuck during the mickey mouse scene
tonight tonight during the dancing hippos
love, cupid de locke, galapogos, muzzle, porcelina during the the dancing horses, angels, storm scene
Zero during the devil scene

I remember the one for geek usa being cool too. but the one for today didn't work out very well because it ended up being over the dinosaur scene.

Rewind Fantasia all the way to the beginning of the tape and then reset your vcr counter. Fastforward and pause Fantasia at 51 seconds. Press play/pause on track #5 off the Siamese Dream cd. unpause both at the same time and be sure to press disk repeat. Let it play all the way back to the end of track #4.

Pause vcr again at 1 hour 2 minutes and 57 seconds. Start the same way with track #8 of the first disc of Mellon Collie (on repeat disk mode) Let it play until the credits end.

Hopefully the timing is the same with dvd as it was with a vcr. But for reference:

start cd right when the conductor first motions to the orchestra. It takes a little playing with but if you start at the right time, it yields an amazing coordination.

You should also have both on pause, and unpause them at the same time

Shit I'm going to go out and do this now, I haven't seen it in a while

I think the biggest fuck up with that alternative is the sync on the dinosaur scene with Silverfuck is EPIC and by the far the strongest of the lot.

i'm actually in the middle of doing a playlist to synch in with the entire film at the moment, not just Smashing Pumpkins - with everythng. First half an hour is done and really happy with it, but now up to the Mickey Apprentice scene and i cant get anything to work with it that i am 100% happy with. If anyone owns the film or atleast enjoys being creative and doing stuff like this - would love to get recommendations. Hit a bit of a creative hump with it and its pissing me off. ( actually want to avoid a pumpkins song during this scene to make sure its not too SP heavy - already have Cherub Rock & plan on using Silverfuck on the dinosaur scene, and plan on using another track later on )

If you want to have a crack at it but don't own the film, youtube has clips of the scene in question. need something that will work from the moment the sorcerer appears at the beginning. If you are into being creative and making playlist based on feel, its actually very fun :)/>

.....except when you can't find something that will fit :banghead:/>

cheers :)/>

I read one way to watch it was to start with cherub rock right when the conductor first motions to the orchestra, so I've been doing that. Gotta say it's pretty awesome. Everything syncs together almost perfectly. The one complaint I have with doing it this way is that the dinosaur/Silverfuck scene isn't as good as the one on youtube, but everything else is pretty great. Luna ended right when the black pegasus falls, and now I guess I'm supposed to put in the first disc of Mellon Collie. Hope it's as good as Siamese Dream was.

Just finished the movie with Mellon Collie, and although it didn't fit as well as Siamese Dream did, it definitely had it's moments. I thought MCIS, Zero, and Fuck You all fit great. I was skeptical about Cupid de Locke and Galapogos playing during the devil scene, but they actually fit pretty well. And closing with Muzzle was great as well, especially when the Fantasia logo came up

I'm telling you, you have to try it the 2nd method, starting SD with Rocket, and going full circle, then doing MCIS disc 1 with Fuck You and going full circle, to me this is the only way to do it, you get an awesome geek USA, an awesome silverfuck with the mickey mouse sequence, an awesome, awesome sequence with Love, cupid de Locke, Galapogos, Muzzle, and Porcelina played over the greek mythology sequence, Tonight Tonight over the dancing hippos and best of all Zero playing during the devil sequence.

I actually made this sync and tried to post it to youtube be for some reason the sound didn't come out right and kept making popping noises. Maybe I'll just put it up anyway so you'll know what I'm talking about

yeah if you could that would be great.

At what time to the the guitars kick in with Silverfuck on the Mickey Mouse scene? I might give it a try today if you could let me know.

I really see it hard to believe it would fit better than the youtube video does with the dinosaurs, i thought that sync was perfect. I'm struggling pretty bad finding something i'm really happy with to sync we with the Mickey thing though so i might compromise what i wanted from silverfuck to solve it. I think the dinosaur scene will be quite an easy one to pick another sync to, lots of impact moments and the landscape will be easy to replicate.

I think the original synch works well as it is.

My favorites are Disarm during the Sorcerer's Apprentice (Mickey Mouse) and Silverfuck during the dinosaurs.

I think once you start playing the CD in a different place that you're trying too hard to engineer something. At that point it moves too far from the central idea and is less of a coincidence.

That said, I do see the possibility for a minor tweak: Pausing the CD for 5 seconds after Geek USA makes for a better synch from there on out, especially during the lava scenes.

I found the perfect song for the Mickey sequence. When I saw the time on the video, I immediately thought of The Aeroplane Flies High, which is about the same length. I started the mp3 and video (how I played it, the video was about 2 to 3 seconds ahead of the mp3, for example the video was at 0:15 and the mp3 at 0:13). It worked awesome! There were quite a few good syncs and some really good transition points. A few of my favorites are the opening with the sorcerer and the ghost with Billy talking as Mickey, Mickey putting the hat on, the broom getting legs as Billy sings as he walks across the earth, the music getting calm as Mickey gets tired, Billy singing up to meet you in the sky as Mickey is in the sky, the meteors flying to the beat, the waves hitting to the cymbals, Mickey waking up frantic to the guitar solo works well and chasing the broom gives a sense of urgency and the next 2 minutes works awesome. Finally the music gets calm as the sorcerer enters. Its so PERFECT!
The overall dark feel of the song and the drums really feed well into the video.

Give it a try and let me know what you think. Next time my buddy comes over, I am gonna play it for him.

i have tried every music video synch out there.

THE best one by FAR is Pink Floyd's echoes played during the final part of 2001: A Space Odyssey. just start the song Echoes when the words "Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite" appear. EPIC SHIT!

if you like synch's, trust me on this one...it is epic. much better than SD and Fantasia and a zillion times better than Floyd and Wizard of Oz.

I did the Echoes/2001 sync earlier today! Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite and Echoes are probably the two most epic things ever, and combined they reach new heights of amazingness.

Hey just thought i would put this out there.

After listening to countless songs, ridiculous technical difficulties which made the simple impossible, made me have to redo some parts numerous times ( thank you Audacity & ur disappearing noise flaw, random shutting down, and various other errors and issues that threatened to drive me fucking insane ) and watching fantasia about 1000 times in tiny tiny fragments, I recently finished my Fantasia soundtrack - and managed to get it to synch "close enough" to perfect. for my vision of the film atleast. There are still some obvious mistakes in it, which one day i willget around to correcting ( not now, need a break BIGTIME) , and some songs / sections which i am still not sold on as being the right feel - but i had a deadline to meet - and managed to get pieced together with a cool 45 minutes to spare- after 5-6 weeks of working on it.

I have a=managed to make the entire soundtrack into one long Itunes file, which needs to be started at the precise moment the film starts. You know you have it right when the first blue colour of light breaks through the black, and you should hear the notes of sound ( should be at the 3 second mark ).

If anyone owns fantasia ( 1940 )and would be interested in checking it out ( weed, acid optional ), let me know and i will find a way to upload it to somewhere and you can access it. Ideally i would love to get it on Youtube, to get it "out there" , but again, my skills do not go that far.

It is literally one file that goes for 2 hours and i am definitely not a techno savvy guy - so i won't be able to torrent it or anything (unless someone can give me very simple, basic, precise directions to do so on a mac). But if anyone is keen to check it out - pm me and we will sort out a way to get it from you to me. Please be aware while a few SP's songs feature - it does not dominate the tracking - so if you just want to hear SP's, you will be disappointed. I recently played it to some unsuspecting friends ( who did not know i had been doing this ) and the moment it clicked - they could not believe it and really enjoyed it alot. One girl actually cried in a bit which was a bit full on.

Happy to share for those who own it and want to hear a soundtrack that reflects the changes in music since the films original release in 1940. 'i can honestly say despite all the hours and frustration in putting it together, when i watched it play back and saw my friends enjoy it so much, it was all totally worth the effort :)/>

Pm me if keen, Feedback welcomed, but be nice about it. I am not trained in any of this and literally only have audacity ( a free totally flawed editor ) to work with and had to record some sections "open miked", using the mike from my tv and turning the telly up really loud :rofl:/>

I've had a couple of people contact me to get this but i am unsure how to make the audio file accessible. The file is 1.2Gig - sendspace has a limit of 300mg - anyone have any idea how i can transfer a file of that size to someone else? The only think i can think of is if they add me on msn messenger and i send it manually that way?

any help would be great with this :happy:/>

For some reason Dropbox won't give me the option to link it - tried reinstalling it and a few things and my insanely low patience has destoryed it into a million mega bits and removed it from my computer to never be seen again.

If you want the file of the complete audio track for my sync of Fantasia, just PM me, and then add me to msn messenger . my account is

raouljuke@hotmail.com

Just pm me and let me know you are going to add me and i will make sure i log into it every now and then, so we can get it sent. Once your in my messenger list i can send files directly to you. Please note you will need your own copy of fantasia, this file is only audio - but it will sync through the entire 2 hours of the film. Press play once ( perfectly) and sit back and enjoy. When you add me to the messenger i will also give you some tips to how to get it to sync perfectly

Hope you guys enjoy it - would love to hear feedback.

If you have some weed, acid, mescaline or mushrooms around - they are recommend.

So would i, but i can't even get dropbox to work so unless someone else has the skills to do it - it won't happen. Ultimately i would want the whole thing with video and sound to be sync'd together on youtube...but tbh - the best way to watch it is on LCD with the BLURAY version with a 5.1 system cranked to full volume so that your drawn into it. Everyone wants to listen and watch things through computers these days and so much quality is lost once that happens

watching it now with siamese dream starting when he motions to orchestra (i assume it's when he motions to them, not when he "starts conducting" right?).

hm... i think it's when he starts conducting actually

A few observations:

* Today starts when there's the sun.

* Rocket starts around the time that the russian flowers start dancing.

* Soma: "Don't wait up for me." when the broom follows Mickey and "one last kiss goodnight" when Mickey falls asleep. Song's intensity seems to match his dream/waking up and freaking out. "I'll betray myself" when Mickey realizes there's hella brooms coming.

* Geek USA: "the disappointed disappear" when the wizard shoos Mickey away.

* Mayonaise starts when the universe/life thing starts.

* Spaceboy: "break your bones" when the lava breaks up a rock.

also, repeated "we won't be long" during evolution montage.

* Silverfuck starts when animal climbs onto land. "bang bang you're dead" stego gets pwned.

* Sweet sweet "where are we goin?" we see dinosaur bones--apparently they all died.

* Luna starts with the eclipse. "i'm in love with you..." intermission starts.

the majority of the siamese dream sync is pretty uneventful i reckon. Maybe one or two songs that genuinely fit well...but thats it.

If you enjoy music sync'ing to the film add me onto the msn messenger raouljuke@hotmail.com . I think you might like it :)/>

As i mentioned previously - a while back i made a soundtrack to the film Fantasia. At the time i only had an audio soundtrack which you had to press play (at the right time) to to get synced and watch. I recently went back to work on this project and now a video file of the film with the new soundtrack perfectly synced to the footage. I would like to be able to share this with other people, as i personally think it is quite good - but i also have friends who want to see it.

I tried to post it on youtube but as they have a 15 minute video clip limit, i found this to be unworkable - as cutting the film into 15 minute sections really ruined the whole thing. I then cut the film into smaller sections ( around 15-30 minute sections ) to make the film smaller and more accessible, and uploaded this to www.veoh.com, as they do allow videos of larger than 15 minutes.

It took 4 hours to upload due to the HD quality of the film - but after 5 hours of being up, it got taken down due to copyright infringements. I am really frustrated that this happened as there seems to be millions of other videos on the net that clearly are more in conflict to this. I am not pretending to have created this work, i just compiled it - and i have no interest of profiting from this work.

I am very untech & uninternet savvy - i am a caveman living in a digital world - but i would really like to be able to get this thing out there to show friends and people who may also enjoy it. Does anyone here have an idea how i can make this happen?

With the whole oceania project being about the album, journey and visual eperience, i think many people here would also enjoy this work .Music included from Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Nine Inch Nails and many many more.

Know this is a little random, but i am sure there are people here that are wiser in the how to's to make this happen, and its a little mini internet "Cry for help" to those who possess the knowledge i seek....

Not sure why you are having this issue - i, & others, have been watching it without issue - below is another link to part 1 - can you tell me if you still have issues?

Anyone know if there is a way around them blocking it? I'm not trying to profit from it or claim to have made the footage / written the songs - i just want to share it and get feedback.

BTW - part 2 has epic pumpkin songs in it - just sayi'n...
