I'm pretty sure SP annoys both of my parents...but my Dad likes Zero, I think. I really like this thread idea though! :cheers:/> I'm hoping there are some Jellybelly or Geek U.S.A. moms out there

Ahah great thread!
My mum likes Lily ..because she sings it to our dog and strangely she thinks Ava Adore is "quite nice".
My dad brought me to see SP back in '08 and said "that Jimmy guy. He's some drummer." but expressed no song preference

Yo mamma's so fat...
that she likes the Helman's song!

Is this what the thread needs to know? I got more.

Yo momma's so ugly...
She thought Pug was about her.

My mom made me make her a SP mix cd. Her favorite is In The Arms Of Sleep, which after hearing she always says, "best song ever". We're related for realz.

My mom doesn't seem to mind the softer songs. I burnt her a Christmas CD once and snuck Christmastime on there haha.

My Dad's who got me into the Pumpkins, but only because he heard 1979 and Tonight Tonight on the radio, their more rock oriented songs surprised him.

My Mom didn't like the Pumpkins. Although, I played a 2008 live vid of A Song For A Son for her back when the 20th Ann. tour was going on, and she started crying. :(/>

She was sick, so I partly think I just picked an awful choice of a song to play for her.

My father passed away before my SP phase began, so I wouldn't know. I'd imagine he'd like a handful of the songs.

Dunno. Probably something on Adore. That's her favorite album of SP I've made her listen to (she don't like that LOUD MUSIC).

My mom doesn't know any of the songs, but when I play Siamese Dream she seems to like it.

whenever i used to listen to mellon collie in the car my mom would make me play 1979 all the time. she doesn't know the name though...

my dad is actually the one who got me into sp, but i know way more about them than he does now. he watches all the dvd's with me and took me to see them once last year. i don't know his favorite song but the one that he's praised the most was jesus is the sun.

My dad respects them but he likes his own music. I played adore for my mom a few days after my grandpa and her dad passed. She seemed to like it. Good album for a rainy Rochester day.

This, except she tells me to turn it down. I guess my dad likes Tonight Tonight, too.

My mum totally hates SP with a passion.
So she has to leave the room when I start going on about SP and Billy...

But my dad is actually an SP fan, definitely not a massive fan, but fan enough.
He loves SIYL, Cherub Rock, Geek USA, Bullet, ect... all the hits.

I don't know probably 1979 or Today. i tried to get her into With Every Light because it seems right up her alley but I don't think she ever listened to it.

My mother in law on the other listens to the pumpkins quite a bit, her favorites are Lily and My Blue Heaven

My mom constantly makes fun of Billy's voice, but among some of the songs she has mentioned liking (usually when they're playing in the car or on my itunes when I'm at home) are...

-Cherub Rock
-Tonight, Tonight
-1979
-Thirty-Three
-Eye
-For Martha
-Try (I wanna say it was the Machina II version I was playing)
-Landslide (she's a pretty big Fleetwood Mac fan so I think she just enjoys the novelty of this one)
-Tarantula (she REALLY liked this one when it was playing in the radio back in 2007-2008)
-A Song for a Son

The only song of Smashing Pumpkins she has really said she could not stand was "Death From Above," so I would have to agree with her.

My Dad thinks that any music involving a drum kit is 'noise'.

But once, I had Starla playing and my mum said "That's quite nice, isn't it." It surprised me because she only listens to Neil Diamond, ABBA and Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals.

My mom liked "Tonight, Tonight." She used to tell me it reminded her of the Moody Blues. I have never heard Moody Blues... I guess I should pull out her LPs.

She likes to make fun of Billy's voice though.

She thinks all their songs are either too loud or too depressing.
I don't think they get much louder than the glam rock bands she loves, but whatevs yo.

The only time his voice has EVER made me cringe is Tonite Reprise and Wound. And for Wound, it is only the intro. The remainder makes up for it.

Of course, I was exposed to Tonight Tonight at an early age, so maybe I'm immune? :shrug:/>

There are many lol-worthy moments that my friends pointed out to me as a teenager...I was too obsessed to notice, because I was 16 and MCIS was still charting and I had just seen them play in my hometown. But the worst one is in By Starlight where he goes "does she really know me.....aaaaaaaaat laaaaaaaaaaaasst" omfgbbq

My mom likes the pumpkins ( she listens to them on the radio occasionally), she really liked SIYL when i put it on a mixtape for her.

My dad is neutral about them, he dislikes Billy's voice, hates BWBW when he hears it on the radio, but he does seem to like Today and 1979

I agree, Billy is a great frontman and the only one for the pumpkins. But he isn't a great singer and that's why I don't get annoyed when people mock his voice. He has a gift for songwriting and that's what drew me in, not his voice..I just learned to tune out the bad bits.

my mom barely knows english. lol

my girlfriend likes how SP sounds but hates the angsty lyrics (she's only really listened to the rockers on MCIS). her favorite is the MCIS theme. it does not surprise me since she is a very gifted pianist. she learned that song and plays it for me every once in a while.

Today
Ava Adore
Tarantula
Zero
If of the Mourning
Jeniffer Ever
Muzzle

lol aww I wouldn't be ashamed to rock out with my mother at a pumpkins concert. She wouldn't go though lol, still "too wild" for her. The crowd that is.

And to keep on topic,

She also really likes "Everlasting Gaze."
