I feel like it needs a friend at the minute and upon first listen to the album, the opening song really had me hooked.

so i for one enjoy the song and have been one of the few on this board that see's it as just as worthy of anything the pumpkins have done in the past.

so here is to quasar :cheers:/>

maybe this live performance from recent times will convince the good people here...

I appreciate the song. Billy's hard rock rewrite of My Sweet Lord by George Harrison. I think the album version suffers a bit in the first couple lines but once he gets to the 'fated one..' part I love it. It's a lot of fun.

Quasar is great. Unsurprisingly enough, I like the live version a lot more than the studio one (although that mix is really interesting).

I like the song but I'm still processing it. I find the opening lines a bit awkward but it gets better as the song progresses. I think it really contrasts the overall mood of the record as a whole; but I kind of like that, since it extends the stylistic range of the record.

Great song indeed! What I appreciate the most about the tune are the twists and turns it takes unexpectedly. :cheers:/>

Can't we just have a Quasar discussion thread so that I can hate on it?

This song is amazing. I never cared for it live, but man it rocks. Everything from the unexpected kick-start in the opening riff, to Billy's spacey vocals, to the bombastic guitars throughout.. Everyone cuts on the lyrics, but I think they fit really well. I love the 'right on!'s' It's just such a self-assured, get up and dance opener. It's the perfect atmospheric rocker. And I'm one for liking SP's slower, more 'colorful' songs.

i love the psychedelic/pink floyd break in the middle of the song...and when he plays it live, it's MUCH longer and more trippy. great song

(i'm amazed at how many people hate this song though...i have nothing in common with those peeps)

I like but don't love it... (Cherub Rock+Astral Planes)-melody=Quasar. I don't dislike by any stretch, but I think there's much better on the record.

I like it too. The slides in the background remind of Whole Lotta Love.

Quasar is awesome... crank it up on some Bose speaker...AWESOME!! this song cannot be appreciated unless played loud. the guitar tone is fantastic as well. Kinda reminds me of a Tarantula Superchrist hybrid.

I love the first words the album starts-On with. Signs of a good omen. I love the energy and sentiment behind the sound and lyrics. Great opener Billy. You don't knock on the door with this one. You blast right through it. This song could have well been part of Zeitgeist.

I think what makes this song, and what helps make this album, is the line "Mark, right on!" I don't know what it is about the line. I think it's mostly the nod to a fallen comrade that really touches me. There's something terribly beautiful in have this sort of acknowledgement/dedication early on in the album.

I never made that connection before. Reading the lyrics, I thought Mark was some spiritual leader or religious icon that I was ignorant about.
I never thought about Mark Tulin. Very touching.
