Susan, I have also heard of people who canceled their pre-order with the reissue but still got the reissue and their money back. I know that may sound funny but some people will be able to get it because of lack of oversight.

I was one of them. Also my "gift" should arrive today..

just trying to confirm here, anybody else hasn't received any informarion about shipping?. I ask this as I see they are beginning to send the articles but last time I never received any kind of confirmation so I'm a bit worried here due to the past reissue experience, I know it is a gift and shipping might just be beginning, but just want to confirm...

I kinda figured anyone who filled out the form would get a flexi. I didn't want to say anything before the 30th, and possibly cause a rush. but it looked like it to me. did ya'll see how the email was saying they were gonna check order numbers? its obvious they Sony know what happened. otherwise why not just send the email to eligible people. but I don't know if I'm right. I couldn't test because I am actually eligible.

Here it will surely take a week or two, as soon as it leaves USA, the package is on it's own, sadly, that's how it works here.

Cool. My first thought was "Blissed and Gone" but it makes sense that it is a song we haven't heard before. Anyone know information about the song? Like what era it is from.

Monte, I know you did a Q&A with Matt about the gift, but would you mind asking him what format the WAV file was in? Was it 16-bit/44kHZ, 24-bit/48kHz, 24-bit/96kHz? There are a lot of folks (including myself) who would love to know.

Yeah I was probably seeing what I expected to see as I said. I noticed it had a bit of a Teargarden vibe too. I probably saw a Gish style in there because Teargarden was supposed to be returning to pyschedelic route of the band before.

Not that i'll be getting one - but is this an early, 'SP1' song, or a new one? Is it full band or just Bill. Thanks.

This Q &A Hypno Raygun did was great!

http://www.crestfall...guest-bloggers/

Q&A with Manufacturer of the Smashing Pumpkins 7″ Flexidisc by Hypno Raygun
Matt, Thank you for your email. Just out of my own curiosity, I had a few questions if you don't mind, feel free to answer any or none.. I was wondering if you knew how many were pressed?
They pressed 5000 of these, but I think there was a slight underrun. I wish my fan club was that big.

Is there such a thing as a Test Pressing for a flexi? If so, did the band get those? If there are any test pressings around, could I buy one? (Doesn't hurt to ask I guess! ha..)
There is, and no, you can't buy one. :)/> As far as I know James Iha approved these….just kidding, they went to Billy, of course.
Does your company keep the Stampers? Lacquer masters?
Yes, and yes. The stampers are here at our pressing facility in San Francisco. We keep the ones that aren't damaged in pressing in case we need to press more or if they want to repress. The "lacquer masters" are actually Direct Metal Masters in our case, and they're held at our plant in the Czech Republic, which is where we make all of our standard records. That's also where the masters are cut.

Was the art sent digitally as well?
Indeed it was.

What format was the digital music in? (the one the band sent you)
I believe that it was sent in a wav file. Nothing really glamorous about moving digital files around.

Were there specific guidelines they wanted? Or was it very basic?
Pretty basic, just the song. They were initially going to do a postcard flexi but when I heard the song (which is very quiet) I urged them to do a standard flexi. I also suggested the Lisa Frank-y sparkly foil color for the art, which I was really happy they went with!

Has your company worked with The Smashing Pumpkins before?
No, I've never worked with them before. Was a die-hard fan growing up though!

Has the company seen an uptick in Vinyl production?

In short, yes. We've been around since 2005 and every year has been a bigger year for vinyl production than the one before it. I think there's a lot of benefits to making something real and special and tangible with your music, it really puts it in a better light than an mp3. That said, if you've got crappy music, no amount of gatefold colored vinyl wizardry will help that ;)/>
Thanks a lot for your time! I love the process of pressing vinyl and would love to learn more about it.
Any time.

Thank you.. And in regards to the type of WAV file.. I will ask them, but I don't know if he has those specific details. I asked.. he did not have that information.

Also, he said the art was drawn by Billy. Which I believe is fairly apparent.

The person I was talking to is Matt Jones from Pirates Press in San Francisco, CA. Here is their site: http://www.piratespress.com/cms/

Ok, does anyone else find it hard to believe that 5,000 people pre-ordered the reissues from the o-site, were entitled to this, and followed through getting it shipped in that small time frame?

It's especially annoying that it's a new song, I mean it's one thing for it to be a limited item, but now we're all going to have to wait fuck knows how long for someone to upload a shit copy of it, who may or may not know what they are doing when ripping (and it doesn't sound like the quality is that good to begin with?)

Business Model of SP Success:
- Sell reissues on o-site for more expensive prices than anywhere else.
- Take an another month to get them shipped after when they were supposed to.
- Apologize and promise a gift.
- 6 months later after no updates, finally deliver on said gift.
- Have it be something actually legit, so much so that it actually pisses off all the other fans, most of whom probably bought the re-issues to support the band anyhow.

I can't fathom this kind of logic. Borrowing from Peter to pay Paul. Piss off some fans, make them happy by pissing off the rest. In this digital age I have no access to a track from one of my favorite bands through no fault of my own, after constantly shelling out money to support them (reissues, tour, live tracks, etc). I don't require any thank you's for that, just a simple show of respect to be able to acquire their material at whatever financial price they chose, so I can listen to the music.

Maybe they'll release it tomorrow via the website, maybe even for free, and I'll look like an idiot. Hopefully. But in all honesty, even if that is the case, how hard would it be to communicate that in advance and save all of us the hassle? I'm not holding my breath.

I can understand you're frustrated. I know that I would like to hear the song too. But regardless of how long it took to get the gift out, SP was trying to make it up to the people who had their reissue pre-orders delivered late, rather than hurting us or something.. It doesn't make sense that they would give them something that everyone already had, unless it was a replica of a hard to find release or something. And it sounds like it's a simple home demo, something they would likely not put on a commercial release anyhow.

I hope someone does a good rip of this. I dont have a record player to listen to it on. and besides, a holster guy at work told me not to play my copy. he said flexidiscs are only really good for a few plays.

If the band had sent a crappy to medium gift, some people would be saying "HA! You waited 6 months for that!" Now that the wait was actually worth it, there's anger because it's good. :scatch:/>

Why would that be naughty? It's not commercially available. I'm sure someone will rip it.

are you just checking your confirmation e-mail, or have you clicked through to your live receipt?
you have to click through to the live receipt. it's under the blue link at the top where it says "your <<live receipt>> will always..."
click on "live receipt" or on the order number a bit lower in the confirmation mail. the order number is also a blue link.

the three days wasn't correct. i believe they only shipped these on monday 30 april. not earlier.
