Maybe he was referring to this?

Anybody else remember them, or that song?

I bought the album for $1.67...I guess it was worth that. Thanks, KROQ!

Pale horse might be a reference to the horse rode by Death. Anyone know anymore?

He must be thinking about her a lot.. Why else would he throw For Martha into these shows.

I concur. Can't put my finger on it yet but on first listen it reminds me alot of a great Pumpkins song Adore (or Machina?) -era, anyone sees what I mean? Maybe a To Sheila or Annie Dog-vibe

Awesome song. It immediately reminded me of the unknown instrumental gravity demo. I hope this link works.

It might have been part of his mother's treatment? He sings "When they lit you up, you shut me out"...so freaking sad...gah :(/>

This song definitely sounds reminiscent of MCIS material. The chord structure, guitar work, sounds so magical.

Also, if this is about his mother, than holy hell. :(/>

This song is creeping up into my top positions for the new stuff...

They use it to track cell movement. With cancer, it's usually to track tumors.

Hopefully we get the lyrics with this album, but here is a start:

if i was ...
i'd turn back
give up all my reasons
forget the past

you think i'd swallow ...
bearing the weight of the ceilings
just to stop and [ask?]

fluorescein
fluorescein
fluorescein
fluorescein

they give you this
they take away that
fluorescein

they'll be no rallies
they'll be no long last ...
empty on the inside
running out of the last protests
standing by the feeling of an end

[stowaway or slow away?] [lights or life?]
runaway [love or life?]

when they lit you up
you shut me out
they gave me the keys so i could show you around
but we were not around
ominous of a day dream of a cottage [abound?]
fluorescein
fluorescein
fluorescein
fluorescein

they give you this
they take away that
fluorescein

they'll be no rallies
they'll be no long last ...
coming [or cutting?] out of the spotlight
running out of the last protests
standing by the feelings of an end

[stowaway or slow away?] [lights or life?]
runaway [love or life?]

please come back
please come back
please come back, pale horse
please come back
please come back
please come back, pale horse

please come back
please come back
please come back, pale horse

please come back
please come back
please come back, pale horse

why is the volume so low? This song is kinda good. I like the guitar melody but the vocals doesnt sound too good... Sounds like he's just cramming words

Beautiful song.

Beyond his personal story with his mother I believe he speaks of something larger.

Pale Horse is death

http://stargods.org/PaleHorse.htm

Refers maybe to the system of death of what William spoke in one of his Everything from Here To There's blog.

And his mother represent the Mother's LOVE like in Mary Star of the Sea.

It's why it is coming back again and again. As if he speaks of the larger with the nearer.

At least, it's the way I hear and feel it.

As if the system of death kills unconditional LOVE

Agreed. So beautiful...

Last time he wrote something this sad was...Crying Tree Of Mercury? I think? And it sounds like Adore, so that plummets it further down the time line. I think this record is him making peace with the dark aspects of his life: past, present and future. He's always sung of missing his mother, but not like this. This goes into detail and, well...much darker territory. Yet, he said it is from a place of spiritual enlightenment, which can only mean that he is finally understanding certain things and then letting go of others. No matter how dark the purging process was song-wise. This one turned out pretty mournful, as well as beautiful. My second favorite, after My Love Is Winter and tied with Oceania. :thumbsup:/>
