Pinwheels intro is too long... I'm all for a good intro, but the intro isn't that good... just long.

Wow I'm seriously having a hard time figuring out which song should be the single. So many songs are that good. Thinking what the public would like:

One Diamond, One Heart and I think it really could top the charts I mean look at Somebody I used to know! It would make a perfect summer tune!! I would say The Celestials would be my second choice for a single love the second half and personally think its a better song than one diamond but its not as good for the summer. Third My Love Is Winter maybe released for the winter. Even though my favorite songs are Pale Horse, Violet Rays, and the tear jerker Pinwheels.

I don't hear a single that would actually be popular on mainstream radio. Mliw comes closest.

So about Oceania (the song)... I was looking forward to the 'still she's gone' part the most, out of everything in this record. What the HELL happened to that? It's neat, but those ambient guitars live... it could have been so majestic.

Having said, WOW this song is amazing in every other way. The parts leading up to it, and the parts after definitely make up for it. Nicole's vocals in this album are just FLAWLESS...

Yeah that part is a bit of a letdown. Not a big deal though in such a majestic song.

The Celestials would do well on radio, as would Panopticon, and The Chimera. Violet Rays could work as well.

I know. It just sounds so out of place.. But like I said, all of the other parts of the song surpassed my expectations SO much that it made up for it, and more. Unbelievably beautiful song.

The point of Quasar is just to rock out. I really feel bad for people who can't take songs like that in stride. They're taking it way too seriously. Its not as if the band is trying to pull one over on you. Its an energetic way to start the album, and a cool song to hear played live. It serves its purpose. Haters can and should get the fuck over it.

Totally with you on this. It's a great song to open with. I can understand how some people may get turned off by it lyrically but lyrics aside it's one of if not THE "rocker" of the album.

Slightly reminiscent of Superchrist just kind of showcasing the band at full throttle rock status.

Loving Mike's drumming on this!

Perfect summer album. Not really heavy but absolutely jamming in that special SP way and soooo pretty.

There's no big standout single like Tarantula, but plenty of these songs could do well on radio. Namely The Chimera or Panopticon.

"Quasar" belongs in the conversation of worst ever Smashing Pumpkins songs. Will reserve any other thoughts until I've heard the album a few times.

Only if you have no concept of dynamics and opening an album with a huge push and a surge forward.

Could that perhaps be because it's a rock album and rock songs simply don't have potential as singles anymore?

I avoided listening to the samples so this was my first time listening to it. It is mixed bag for me after one listen. Some are really good, fantastic even, and some are so-so. It does sound more like a Zwan/Future Embrace hybrid to me, yet songs like Glissandra and Inkless sound like SD era SP. I do not hear an obvious single so I can see why they avoided choosing one. There is some really interesting guitar work on some of the songs, with lots of neat sounds in the background. His voice sounds good and the production sounds nice. Overall I am content with it.

:rofl:/> To both. No singles wasn't even meant as a negative. There's just no hits here. Not a big deal. Doesn't mean the album is bad.

I just streamed the entire album through surround sound with 7 speakers and it was outstanding. Much better than I anticipated. Very pleased.

That part in Oceania right after he says "better than a just laid cause" (I think) and the guitar kicks in gets me everytime.

This album is everything I love about music. Welcome back Billy..

they are mp3 after you unrar. otherwise you'd have to upload each track one-by-one to mediafire or something.

As a side note, you know that this is good when even Netphoria is saying it's good (for the most part, still people bitching about Mike's drum tone and Billy's singing on Quasar).

Mikes drumming is fantastic on this record. Netphoria wouldn't know what to do if they couldn't hate on something. Let em be the miserable ass holes they are. The drum tone, the vocals, they're exceptionally well done, as is pretty much everything else on Oceania.
