what is this bullshit?!? you know, i auditioned for the voice a month or 2 ago. no one in my group made it through, although several were really quite excellent (and i thought i did just fine myself). i thought the show was supposed to be different and unique in its selection process, but look at this girl! how clear is it that they wanted an adele clone?

I watched it. The girl did ok singing. What I really liked were the props both Ceelo and Adam gave Billy as an artist.

it was ok... she could have connected more to the song but i think her nerves got to her a little bit. I loved how Adam and Ceelo propped billy and i love how Christina also gave the song it's due in her own way. I think and hope this would exposed SP a little bit more and as an SP fan i am proud. I actually wanna vote for her just because she did that song.

I'm not very familiar with the concept of the show so forgive me if what I am about to say is utter nonsense, but are the singers really in charge of picking up the songs they perform during the show?
Don't get me wong, I'm really happy with this unexpected exposure, but I also think that the choice of the song has something to do with the numerous forthcoming SP releases, including MCIS reissue... :shiftyeyes:/>
Great job from the PR (Adele's clone -clothes, gesture, general style- performing an SP song on a popular show, wow! How could one do better?) but this makes the whole performance a little less exciting than a genuine non-profit tribute to the band.

This being said, once again I'm happy for the band :happy:/>, and most of all I may be completely wrong.

PS: I can't comment on the cover itself, because I can't turn on the volume right now.

Probably, to some degree. A lot of these kind of shows have a PR angle to them. However, it is still nice to hear the band and to hear them get complimented.

The producers of the show have a list of songs the contestants can choose from.

That was OK how-it-sounded-wise, but insulting. She basically took the song and made it the opposite of what it was. The emotional vibe from of song is gone. The original had a sense of a yearning for something unattainable and "seize the day" and "I LOVE you so much" and all we're left with in this performance is "We're gonna have a party tonight and it'll be cool I guess yay".

That was essentially CeeLo's assessment of it as well, which was interesting to hear from him.

‎"There's something so genuinely tortured about Billy Corgan's voice". That was the best part.

Her version of the song sounded pretty cool to me, by the way.

That cover was terrible...

But I don't know how you pull off a cover of a MCIS era song, Billy himself can barely do it anymore...

Ok I've just listened to the performance.

Her voice is not bad but why all this glitter to sing a song which I consider to be a hopeful artless commitment?
How can someone sing "we'll crucify the unsincere tonight" in such a theatrical way and with so much fake emotion?
Where are the hope, the emotion, the doubts fought with confidence, the willingness, the strong frailty, the touch of crazyness, in a word all the ingredients which make Billy's music unique?

Once again the problem is not her voice, the problem is the whole set which is inappropriate. She looks like a Disney princess singing "tonight I'm gonna meet my prince, yes it's possible tonight, my dream came true, etc".

yeah ceelo commented on that and i find that interesting that ceelo knows that the song shouldn't be sooo ummm bright. It could be theatrical but the emotional connection wasn't there. I think her nerves got to her or she tried to turn it around but didn't deliver that new connection properly.
