When was Billy in that gold dress and giant head-dress thing? I know it was at some point in the 08 tour, what part of the set? Anyone have a picture handy?

It's been haunting me lately....

At the very beginning of the first of the two nights in each town during the 20th anniversary tour. I'm not sure whether he wore it or not for the towns that only got one show.

I think ShamanO posted this pic once...I'm pretty sure I got it from her.

Any Mayan prophecy concerning 2012 to share with us Billy? ;)/>
What a good laugh this costume was! Funny Billy, always here to surprise us...

I like the translucent skirt though. It makes me think of the PI vinyl with those lights;)

I never cared for it. I know he's being purposely over the top theatrical. But still, not my thing. I actually rolled ny my eyes when I saw him on stage with it in Chicago even though I knew it was coming based on my brother seeing it in Toronto. To each their own.

I can't help wondering how the other band members felt when they first saw this... :rolleyes2:/>

I must admit it would have been funnier if it had been a one shot thing. The fact that it was repeated made it look like something way too serious or at least something more important than what it really was that is to say a joke to create some kind of buzz (and maybe mock Bily's reputation as a despotic frontman in the meantime ;)/>).
Moreover I haven't seen Billy playing with this costume but I bet the hat prevented him from feeling comfortable on stage and thus affected his playing. I mean it is so huge and seems heavy. Sometimes when you play you just can't help banging your head or things like that which seems impossible here.

Anyway at least the godsun dress was funny. Sadly those costumes were not and they are not my thing either.

"Jimmy, I obviously try to make efforts but you don't look at me anymore like you used to... you're cheating on me with another band right?
Hey! Could you at least look at me when I'm talking to you!"

Yeah I never got to see one of the Zeitgeist tour shows, but I didn't like the look of those costumes either. I don't think Billy had to worry about that head dress affecting his playing, as he only sang in it for one song, without playing his guitar. Then he took off the costume, revealing the white ZERO dress.

OK that makes more sense! I have never attended nor seen any full length show from this era. Any tip concerning a good one to watch?

I liked Billys get up on Letterman and wherever else he wore said outfit.

Black and white striped t-shirt, zip up white shirt, white jeans, white shoes.

The Aztec sun god outfit was obviously him taking the piss.

We've talked about Billy's yellow dress, now let's talk about Jeff's red costume.
I tremendously love it + great match with the SG.

Yes! Cool pic! Red suit and "devil" Gibson is a classic but I like it.

I'm not fond of the flowers on the lapels of James' jacket, but the broderie anglaise seems rich and well executed and I recognize he wears it with style. Moreover I like the association with the white shirt with a large collar.
James could be such a dandy sometimes.

How about the pyjamas era though?

one show in Toronto in '96 doesn't make an "era".

Probably my mistake, I've always thought there were several of them. :scatch:/>
This one for instance is said to be recorded in Washington DC, but of course: can you trust the net? ;)/>

my mistake, i thought it was a one time stunt cause I was at the first TO show at the Phoenix. They did one the next night, then 2 in DC, then 3 in NY.

mini tour. 7 shows.

they wore PJs when i saw them at Brixton in 96 also.. so there were a few.. i think any time there was an acoustic set opening the mellon collie shows, they wore them.

He wore the crazy head dress thing in Toronto Massey Hall also.. when he came out. It was pretty shocking to me.
