rock am ring 6/2/07 was pretty amazing.

and the 10/5/88 show which may not count as a boot now since they released an official copy on Constantinople at their "final" metro show.

those are my favorites.

and yes, i seriously love the storytellers bootleg.

there is some juicy fun awesomeness on there that never made it on the air.

no, more the content than the quality.

you don't hear these songs too often, and it's rad to hear them live/hear darcy fuck up all the bass lines.

i think they were all nervous as shit playing this show.

they were twice as tight as 08/10/88.


both those shows are novelty only. songs aren't great, ESPECIALLY 08/10/88, and the fuck ups by everyone lead to a shitty couple of shows.


that is why i am shocked that you actually enjoy the songs. they generally suck balls. if you enjoy that material, the demos are better than a sloppy performance.


the band didn't get tight till late 1989.

the novelty is probably why i like it so much.

and the mistakes make me smile.

and yes, i enjoy the early demo tapes, too.

stars fall in is probably the best thing they did during that era.

just as a semantics side note - as a taper, i prefer people not use the term "bootleg." This leads people to believe these are illegal or for sale. "Recordings" is a much better, more accurate term. Thank you :)/>

It may not have the euphoric ambience of the "Return of Jimmy", the killer performances of San Diego or Pittsburg, or the historic significance of the final true SP1 show at the Roxy, but this recording is probably the most fun to listen to of all the Arising tour:

It's great sound quality, and for once there's a sense of warmth and fun, with teases, and plenty of banter, both within the band, and between them and the audience. They also encore with 1979 for the only time on this tour. I can listen to this whole show over and over again because it makes me feel all warm and fluffy inside. :happy:/>

I'd agree with Pittsburgh 99 show, Speed Kills is one of my face songs and well Pittsburgh 99 is the best quality I think from that year.

Reading 1995. Good call man. Just grabbed this off Internet Archive and it is amazing. People there hearing MCIS tracks for the first time must have been blown away.

I really like the Bilbao '98 show. It was shot on film too and can be seen on Youtube. It is the show at the Guggenheim museum. Quality wise, the audio of the bootleg sounds great and I have always like the shows from the Adore era. Billy seems really emotional and the crowd loves it. Plus, the live version of Stumbleine that they were doing is beautiful.

Actually I was wrong, they played it (Soot and Stars) somewhere else the same year as I heard a bootleg online, I'm still waiting for the person to get back to me to see if they have a flac or whatever.
