kerry [Brown] and frank [Quinto] talked for 20 minutes at the meetup the other day regarding the reissues bonus material. I had a hard time listening, since it was during the soundcheck. couple of things i remember them saying ... (not sure if all or any of this has been mentioned before)

Original master of Crush was stolen (someone literally cut out that section of tape)... not sure how they handled that song without it...

The Gish DVD will contain the entire metro show from Chicago Pulse.

Gish DVD will also have a rehearsal video of the band playing Crush, shot in Billy's living room

The SD DVD will contain an SD era Metro Show from JBTV.

Kerry went on and on and on about how good the original SD master sounds. Said the remaster contains only tweeks and the original mix is unaltered.

Frank says there are pre Gish tracks in the archive that have only been played live one time (I assumed he meant that these were being considered for SPRC releases in the future)

nice to know we don't get that sort of info here :/

sorry. my bad! I tend to post more on hatephoria because I like the drama.

I also tweet a lot....

here are my notes from the Detroit meet up:

Kerry Brown stated that Amazon jumped the gun and shouldn't have posted the preorder info for Gish and SD.

the SP archive currently employs 10 people. They have been actively engaged in discussions on how to keep those people employed. However, billy has stated that membership to SPRC has to remain free and they will continue to offer free content.

Vinyl & CD copies of reissues may include a free digital download (I think Kerry meant a free SONG)

Kerry is looking at "needle drop" downloads for those who buy the reissues on vinyl (this is still an idea and not a certainty)

(at Milwaukee) Kerry stated that the SP archive is sooo massive that it's difficult to describe. I think he stated that there are 60,000 audio recordings alone. He said he does not believe that ANY other band has such an extensive archive.

also, billy, nicole and mike are at the DC meet up right now!! Lucky fans in DC!

I just twittered Kerry and Snail is on Gish. It's a typo. Don't know when they'll put it on the site though.

Gish and Siamese Dream Deluxe CD/DVD are now down to $23.33 on Amazon. My preorder price for the pair has gone from over $60 to $46.66, sweet.

Just because 'there is no relationship' does not mean they are not getting their share of $$$$$. Also, i thought dates for the dvds were announced somewhere...

I pre-ordered both Gish and Siamese Dreams on SPRC the day they were released.

The prices for the boxes are ok for me given the material in them, but the shipping costs...dammit !
I was so excited I couldn't wait to buy both reeditions of the albums. But as far as the following ones are concerned I think I'll wait for them to reach France before I buy them.

Got a "breaking news" message from the FNAC this morning.

You can pre-order Gish and Siamese dreams in France now and save some shipping costs (delivery due on december 2nd).
Gish: here
Siamese dream: here

Note that I bought the reedition on SPRC and of course I had to pay for the delivery in France but with the dollars/euros conversion it was the same price as FNAC.

How can Amazon sell both box sets cheaper than the Smashing pumpkins site themselves? A little torn here as I assume buying from the SP site gives them more of the profit, but if I can save 16$ thatd be nice.

The new mix of Tristessa sounds amazing - after hearing these samples from both reissues, and hearing how good they sound, I've decided to buy both the reissues - I was originally intending on getting SD only. :nana:/>

The guitars all sound louder. That's the only real change I can hear at this point. Even the clean guitars sound really loud.

I'm most interested in hearing Seam, Smiley, and Blue in their entirety. Everything else is nice (and I'm reserving judgment till I've heard something other than a low-res internet clip), but I'm still most looking forward to additional SPRC stuff. A little surprised there's been no updates lately...

Yes I was really glad to hear the samples. Just made it more clear that I won't be buying them.

We'll have to see about the others, especially Machina I and II

oh i'll still be buying them, if just for the dvd. there's a dvd, right? and the booklet, pics, a few extra songs i guess.

but it seems like there's so much other material that i havent heard or that is more unique than simply alt. versions of songs i've already heard.

I feel the same way. I'd like to utilize SPRC but I can't pass up the savings on Amazon.

Also, are these samples on Amazon, the actual cuts? I hear that the guitars a slightly louder but that is about it. I played the sample clips then listened to my CD on my computer and unless you are comparing side by side, its hard to notice any difference. The average listener is not gonna notice the difference. I was barely able to tell.

But I'll still buy it for the bundled package.
