Or maybe it is just me feeling like listening to Porcelina in the past few days.

Or maybe because it has the word Ocean in the title? :lick:/>

..which is mainly why I used the expression "tone on tone". ;)/>

It could be seen as a bad pun whereas I feel like the atmosphere of the song can be related to Oceania as we know it so far.

I was wondering about the Nicole thing too. I assume that there won't be dates too soon (I can't remember offhand when Libson is?...) but that makes me hope actual info soon, if they know they need to start rehearsing and when.

Personally I would love to hear Porcelina and think it would tie into the Oceania vibe nicely. Here's how the upcoming tour plays in my dreams - Opening portion of lesser know but fan favorite awesome live cuts that were honed up on the last tour I never got to see, followed by the new record, followed by a handful of hits in the encore...something like this;

Porcelina
Geek USA
Thru the Eyes of Ruby
Starla
Window Paine
Muzzle
Soma
Silverfuck Jam

band leaves stage, audio visual portion begins...
Proceed to play Oceania in it's entirety

audio visual portion ends

Encore:
Cherub Rock
Rocket
Drown
Bullet
Today
Gossamer

Only forseeable problem is the lack of Adore/Machina... but on subsequent tours they can be mixed in once the reissues for those records are closer to the light of day?

Don't think your first set will happen, they played all those songs cept porcelina on the last tour.

I think we will have a more MCIS heavy songed set as well as a gish or sd rarity sprinkled in, since PI is reissuing, maybe we will hear Plume.

Another one i think they will throw in this tour is glynis.

Songs like Geek USA and Silvefuck for instance were indeed played on last tour and a priori do not match the atmosphere of Oceania so I wouldn't put my money on it. Starla could make it though since it's on PI.

Moreover the latest sets were shorter that what they used to be with 15 to 20 songs including the encore. Oceania is already a 13 track long album and I've read that the band has planned to play it to its full extent. Consequently I don't think we should expect 14 additionnal tracks to Oceania (even though I'd obviously love to attend a 3h+ show).

I could totally see Glynis as well, especially since Billy has been working hard on it for the reissue. He might want us to hear a fresh version of that song on next tour.

He said several times that the set would be slit in two. Oceania front-to-back, and then a set of older stuff (or at least non-Oceania stuff). Porcelina would indeed fit.

I'm willing to bet we might see a resurgence of XYU this time around. He broke out Ruby & Geek, and clearly had the energy for the latter. That coupled with him recently saying that XYU was the funnest song he's ever recorded, I'd say there's a good chance for it.

him playing x.y.u. would be weird. it's such a angsty song. He would have to be angsty/pissy to pull it off, otherwise it's just more of a "faked" performance. And plenty of people here have bickered about him not putting real emotion into his performances from the past few years.

Porcelina would make a good fit. By Starlight might be another good one. However, I think it was mentioned by Billy that he wanted to play Oceania from beginning to end. He will probably change his mind but that is the last thing he said recently.

I'm not sure if she means getting to be with Billy as SP tours, or she means that the Veronicas will be touring with SP...

Rumored to be playing Splendour in the Grass. Jess Veronica's tweet might've had a bit of substance to it..

It seems odd to me that SP is rumored to be touring Australia in support of an album that won't even come out in that country. I'm sure they'll bring some cd's to sell at the merch stands, but what happens when concert goers go home and tell their friends how good it was and they can't even buy the record? Unless they figure a portion of Australians will go to the concert, in large part, cause that's their only way to get the album. Which will boost the live attendance. If that's the case then we may see a Canadian and Brazilian leg of the tour.

Oh my bad. I was looking at a different press release. Even still, I wonder how EMI will feel if/when SP is supporting an album they are heavily distributing in a country they are not distributing it in.

Has anyone heard anything about when this tour will start?
Or where all it will be going?

I really hope there are some UK dates near me because I really don't want to commute into London to see the new material live. :cry:/>

I was thinking that with the 2 recent setlists, we might have a pretty good picture of the second set of this tour. Set 1 Oceania should clock in at around an hour. with a short break, set 2 will probably last just as long. So maybe 10 songs, with a 3 song encore. I'm expecting a lot of hits with fan favorites. Probably heavy on MCIS era with upcoming reissue.

Today
Ava Adore
Cherub Rock
Tonight
Mayonaise
Space Oddity
Porcelina
TEG
Zero
BWBW

Disarm
1979
XYU

I left Space Oddity in mostly cause it think it sounds great and want to hear it live. I could easily see it getting replaced tho since they have so many songs to choose from.

Thoughts?

Well, if they "frown upon" the band (for lack of better term) for touring in Australia, then they would be unprofessional. None of their business if SP tours in Australia or not. EMI should've distributed it in Australia if they cared that much.

i feel like SP/BC made specific demands of seperate distributors in Canada, Brazil and Australia? I mean, why would EMI refuse to back them in three fairly large markets?
