I read on Monte's blog (as probably everyone on this very forum did) that Billy is going to do a Q&A on twitter at the beginning of next week.
For some reason I don't have (and won't be able to have) a twitter account to ask questions within monday, but I do have a question, so I was wondering if someone could help me here.

I would like to know if the band is considering to promote and support the upcoming album only by performing during festivals in Europe (since Oceania will probably be released in late spring, speculation is rife on this particular subject...;)/>), or if we'll be granted with a proper tour (which obviously I would prefer), or if they have planned to do both.

Is there someone around here who was considering to ask this question and if not could someone please volunteer for this task please?
I thank you very much in advance for your help. :flowers:/>

PS: I haven't read much about the forthcoming tour but maybe someone already has hints on what it is going to be so if you have any piece of information, feel free to post it here. I thank you again for this. :flowers:/>

I think it's fairly safe to assume that they will do a proper European tour, as opposed to strictly festival dates. I don't imagine he'll release any hard dates (as he never does when asked), but that specifics will come out when they want to announce them. But yes, I would imagine there's a good chance of a standard European tour later this year.

Additionally, as I highly doubt I will be able to be online to ask, could someone ask him to finally confirm a completed (w. vocals), studio version of Speed from the Mellon Collie sessions, and if we'll see it on the reissue? Any questions relating to the Mellon Collie/ Aeroplane reissues that could yield potentially mouth-watering responses would be fantastic.

Guys, let's face it, the questions he answers will by and large will be the same ones we have heard the answers to a million times already.

When the band did the Q&A with LiveNation on twitter a few months ago, there were like one or two really interesting soundbytes out of the whole thing.

This one has the potential to be even worse as it's a promoted tweet by @TwitterMusic and people of all kinds (not just hardcore fans) will be asking questions.

That said, I don't think you have to be asking the questions as the Q&A is going on - in fact, you probably want to tweet them NOW, beforehand. Just use the #AskBilly hashtag. But I wouldn't be on your questions getting chosen, though, sadly - especially the "Speed" one, because he may not know quite yet. The Europe tour question has a better chance of being answered, but he's probably limited in what he can say until the official tour dates and PR are ready to release.

I'm just looking to see if it exists, which I would hope he'd remember recording it or not. And one would hope he might be able to throw a bone or two about the next set of reissues, as he's currently working on them. But otherwise, I agree. It'll be the same bullshit questions people ask every time (and a bunch of nonsense, ala "Freebird" like the other times).

I asked the following:
I know Pisces Iscariot is next up for remaster/re-release. Will Judas 0 get a similar treatment? #AskBilly

That's a great question! We know he said the Greatest Hits will be rereleased (I'm assuming with stuff from 2000-Oceania if he feels like they are worthy) but he never clarified if Judas 0 would rereleased.

I asked 3 questions:

@TwitterMusic You've said Zeitgeist is too pop, it should have been heavier as the rough mix. Will you change it for the reissue? #AskBilly
-
@TwitterMusic (How) Oceania will change the process of making and releasing the rest of Teargarden? #AskBilly
-
@TwitterMusic You're working on a new album & on the reissues of older ones. Did any process influence on the result of the other? #AskBilly

:thumbsup:/> Been wondering that myself. It'd be great if they did, as it would free up a ton of room for new bonus content on Adore.

Can someone ask if they have plans to put "Glynis" on the Pisces Iscariot remastered bonus disk? I know it was only on No Alternative but I always felt it was recorded or mastered too low. I always have to turn it up to hear it properly compared to other tracks.

Is this going to be like the last twitter interview, where the band chose random tweets to answer or is this going to be a normal live interview where the interviewer is picking the questions? I hope he or she picks ones that have not been answered yet.

I was searching for the hashtag #AskBilly and there's no many dumb questions this time. So, I think we'll get good answers.

some of those questions are pretty gay. I think I preferred when the band would just select random questions. At least there was not a filter, this time twittermusic is selecting the questions for billy and I'm not so sure it's for the better.

Exactly what I was thinking (except the gay part). They have picked quite a few inconsequential questions so far. Nothing really new or interesting.

My favorite stupid question was the one from the girl who asked for baby names. Brilliant questions being picked here.

the XYU answer was pretty cool.

Quote

Q10. @billy, this might be a tough one… @Veynis asks, “what was your favourite song that you recorded…?”

A10. @TwitterMusic @Veynis my fave song to ever record was XYU, which we recorded live at the Chicago Recording Company in 1995

What about this?

A12. @TwitterMusic @IncliningPizza i would have @jessicaveronica of @theveronicas cover ‘one diamond, one heart’

Did we know about song this yet?

I also found this very funny:

A13. @TwitterMusic @Amieesmith444 my biggest inspirations:John Lennon/Bob Dylan/Picasso/Jesus of Nazz/Mary Magdalene/Wm Burroughs/Walt Disney

well, it's been listed as a track from Oceania, and I think there's speculation that this is the love song Nicole was talking about.

The majority of the questions picked would only be interesting to the person who asked it. I cannot imagine that of all the questions people tweeted that these were the best ones. I knew there was a reason why I hated twitter.

"X.Y.U." statement was probably the only thing of ANY consequence. I'm glad Billy has kept that one on the shelf for SP1.

Disappointing to say the least.

There were some very good questions and Twitter Music chooses 'what should I name my baby??!

In the future I will not be wasting my time thinking of questions that most people on this board would want the answer to.

Haha, you think TwitterMusic was trying to appeal to the hardcore fan? It's for the casual fans or people who don't know about the Pumpkins. Self-promotion? Social media strategy? I don't mind the complaining, but at least do it for something valid.

By whom? Billy or TwitterMusic?

Considering the lack of news the fan base has received, it was an excellent opportunity to have some gaps filled in. It is also not that often that SP fans get the chance to directly ask Billy questions, it would have been nice if just half of the questions dealt with the music.

I see the lack of communication as deliberate - I don't think they want to announce anything until it's 100% confirmed.
Why announce something important in 140 characters when they usually do it via SPRC e-mail, a video on youtube or on their facebook?

Understandable, yet it does not have to deal solely with Oceania. Questions and answers regarding the re-issues would have been great, or about the new demos they are supposedly set to record. Even questions about his book would have been more interesting than what that woman should name her baby.

I think the frustration stems from too much expectations. I didn't expect anything and I'm not all upset hahaha
Life is too short.

Even if some of the questions were subpar - got to admit that his answers were great - especially Voltaire lol

I agree that news on the reissues would be pleasant. I can't wait to see the artwork for PI!

I only found out about it yesterday. Suffice it to say, given my long experience as an SP fan, my expectations were low. That baby name question just pissed me off, not Billy's answer (the Voltaire bit was great), just that it was picked. Furthermore, I am just being argumentative for the sake of it right now.

Same here. I wonder how they will alter it. I wonder if we will ever know who is really on the cover :shiftyeyes:/>

I am also really curious as to what tracks are going to appear on it since a lot of them showed up on Gish and SD.

Hmm, I expect that to remain a mystery! Looks like James to me x)

I vote for Glynis and Why Am I So Tired? I really love instrumentals :)/>

I thought so, but then Courtney kept saying it was her. Would Billy put James on the cover of PI? I dunno.

I like the postcards they did for the other two box-sets. I hope to see more of the same but I think the PI photos were more personal so we might not get any or get studio shots instead.

I am all for the instrumentals. I love the Soma instrumental on SD.
