Indeed. The producer is present throughout the actual recording of the album, sometimes doubling as the engineer (the person physically recording the material), while the mastering person is given the final recordings (already mixed) and polishes it up (ie: makes sure all the volume levels are consistent, etc).

Cool. I was not far off then. Thanks :cheers:/>

Howie Weinberg. He mastered practically all of the pumpkins releases up until Machina. He also mastered Billy's solo record. He also mastered a lot of other famous big 90s albums (like Nirvana's Nevermind).

I have nothing against Howie, but I love what Bob did with the remasters.

Weinberg has done nothing but terrible mastering for the last 10 years or so. This is not a good thing.

I don't understand why he didn't just keep going to Bob Ludwig. It was pretty unanimous across the board (both with fans and Corgan himself) that Bob did an amazing job with Gish and Siamese, why fuck with it? Howie won't necessarily do a poor job, but Bob's already more than proven himself. There's no need to change what was already working so well.

I'm praying it turns out well. Pisces is probably my favorite SP release...

Pisces has always been a favorite of mine, which is why I was looking forward to hearing Bob remaster it. Maybe he was just too busy to have it done in time for the release?

Just having a tracklisting now would be nice, it would calm my fear of the forever-delayed releases or even cancelling of later albums.

so is bowie heinberg remastering all of the pisces reissue, or just the original disc, or just the disc with extra tracks?
this isn't really clear, is it?

also, for gish and siamese dream, didn't they use someone else to remaster the albums for the vinyl releases?

omg. so many people.

Corgan only mentioned Howie doing the bonus disc for Pisces, so I suppose it's possible someone else (Bob, perhaps?) doing Pisces itself. But that would seem strange as well.

I was not aware of someone else doing the mastering for the vinyl.

I'm just hoping they get Ludwig back for some of the rockier future remasters, namely MCIS, Machinas, and the eventual Zeit.

Release date? Track listing? I kind of forgot about this because of the Lucky13 and archive news. I'm looking forward this reissue...

I think monty said it wouldn't be out til after Oceania.

Just my opinion, but I don't expect it to be released before September.

That's only a five month delay, right? (Not including the initial announcement that it would be out by Christmas last year!) Pretty good by SP standards.

I have a feeling this delay is caused by some sort of legal snafu.

It is. BC already said so. I think it was in the 4/13 interview on crestfallen. If not in that interview, it was definitely on crestfallen.com at some point.
