Anyways I have fond memories of dubbing Pisces to cassette and listening to it though my Walkman as I mowed the lawn of my parents' house. It was always problematic because the album wasn't easily split into two halves of a 60 minute tape...
I guess this tape is meant for people like me, not for some of you younger guys. It actually kinda means something to me. I think it's pretty fucking cool.

Nostalgia aside, I doubt you're going to pop it in your walkman and mow your parents lawn again. Unless you are. In which case... proceed.

Wouldn't this require said individual to stop playing whatever on-line video game they are currently playing in their parents basement and come out into the sunlight? (Sorry I really couldn't help myself here ~ and no, there is nothing wrong w/ playing on-line games....I myself do as well)...

I doubt many people will put the CD to play as well. It's the "mp3" era now, CD is almost as vintage as a tape.

Cd's are great for cars ~ or at least cars w/o an MP3 connection, but otherwise I would agree, cd's are def. becoming a thing of the past. Although I do miss looking at the artwork in albums, something about "digital books" that come w/ a downloaded cd just don't do it fore me

not so sure that it is going be much bigger than the two we just got. I just put my SD tape inside my SD Re-Issue and took out the post card and it fit fine.
now here is a twist- what if like the TGBK vol 1, there was an alt tape

Really? Oh, well:
http://www.geek.com/...-2012-20110330/
"According to a recent study by Strategy Analytics, a market analysis firm that helps companies identify trends and market data, next year [2012] will be the first year that digital music sales will overtake CD music sales in the United States."
-
"The major labels plan to abandon the CD-format by the end of 2012 (or even earlier) and replace it with download/stream only releases via iTunes and related music services. The only CD-formats that will be left over will be the limited edition ones, which will of course not be available for every artist. The distribution model for these remaining CD releases would be primarily Amazon which is already the biggest CD retailer worldwide anyhow."

monte please dont joke like that! the obelisk/alt record was a hassle enough. Let's not tarnish the good old era with that kind of nonsense. :)/>
Im glad its been somewhat confirmed that pisces will have its own b-disc (and its not just the cassette). I REALLY cant wait for this boxset! Im so pleased they are throwing in bonuses that make this package even BIGGER than the first 2.

This will be a good year either way. PI, MCIS, TAFH and Adore re-issues. Pretty awesome. Maybe we won't get Adore till next year, but that is still salivating. And then, Oceania is a bonus. It'll be a good year, over before we know it. Just enjoy the ride...

I'm not saying you're wrong here, and I'm definitely not defending Fernando, but tapes are coming back for a certain demographic. I have friend-bands who are releasing cassettes, as there is a market for it, and that's their target audience. They completely sold out of the first pressing actually.
I'd say this is a reaction to the "digital movement", kids now-a-days are trying to find a more lo-fi aesthetic. There are more and more independent labels that put out cassettes, and apparently a large audience who buys them. Just as well, the cost of blank tapes are going up, which is pissing me off.

Just wondering how much longer it will be. I think they got together 4 months before the release of Gish and Siamese Dream. I'm also curious if they'll cover all the notes for the rest of the reissues this year too....

ok, so who is he though?
the guy found a bunch of quotes from the Gish and Siamese Dream years and added it to the booklet. He must be a super fan. Did he at least ask Billy some things to add to the booklets too?

He writes, or at least used to, for Rolling Stone magazine as a music critic. I did not think his liner notes are all that interesting but Billy seems to like him.

linear notes? EH?
they often take someone else to write up a little overview for reissues. i've seen it on many releases.
