Plenty of people have stated here that they didn't care about Oceania anymore, and that all the excitement had gone, but a single article online about a future anouncement generated a hundred of posts in row in this very thread within a few hours (and one should take into account time difference!).

Isn't it ironic...don't you think? :p/>

Why do people care about SP being mainstream popular again. Thats so lame in my opinion. Do you really want to see Billy all over tv Commercials, on the radio after some American idol artists song, and playing alongside Deadmau5 at the Grammys? I don't want that, I would rather have some awesome original music and small theater shows with USB recordings after. The online experience thing whatever could be really cool. I'm looking forward to putting on my nice headphones and chilling uninterupted for an hour and maybe watching some cool visuals.

I suspect there will be a pre-order online option of the album and the fans will get the following:

1. The album will stream in its entirety accompanied by visuals.
2. The fans will get a shipped physical release in a week or so.

I don't understand why anyone is upset over the online stuff...
Oceania will be released as a physical cd for whoever wants it that way for their precious collection.
So what's the prob?

Hello manonkouch!

If I had to make a list of reasons why I'd love to live in the US, SXSW would be right up there.

“By taking the medium one step further we will create an experience with Oceania online and off-line that transcends the single and the single mentality in all ways.”

Call me long in the tooth, but what we are saying is that none of the tracks stand out as a viable single.

While I'll reserve judgement on this direction, I will just say that there are loads of bands that only release LP's nowadays. I can quite happily live without any more physical single releases. Have you seen the state of the singles charts since, well, like forever?

Please, just put the song teasers online, then make it available as a digital and physical LP.

I have a horrible feeling the first listens will be by email invite and we'll have to sit in a virtual chat room with idiots talking over the music. 'everyone mute your mic or die!!!'

Actually, if there's no viable single that is good news. Billy's singles are usually my least favorite songs.

complaining seems to be the more rational reaction in this situation, compared to thinking this might not be so bad.

lets try and figure out how this online experience will be.

Will it be something never been done before? It has to be right?

ok if we all said nothing HipstersUnited or Pitchfork (for example) would probably blog about the fan base not being interested in the project

HipstersUnited is a news source for the faithful. It doesn't matter. Pitchfork doesn't report on the Pumpkins anymore, as far as I've seen. They stopped with the monstrosity of Song For A Son.

Really, IMO, if Oceania ruled, the best way to promote it would be by sending it to the music blogs to create buzz. I mean, that is, if it really is Corgan's best since 1995. No goofball announcements of announcements, just pure excitement based off of the music. Post a Youtube video of SP playing one of the new songs live in studio.

If the music is as good/commercial as Corgan has been saying it is, then it will speak for itself.

yes sir mr. articulate

but what I'm saying is if we all went quiet and had nothing to say HU would speculate that we are not interested, what if the internet went down and the phones (not likely, but I would hope your articulate self would get the point here)...we'd be cast off as not giving a shit about it.

We would?

Usually if people don't say anything we assume they're happy/satisfied.

You may have all of the inside information, but the rest of us, regardless of how many announcements of announcements of announcements are made....we always seem to be left in the dark. We've all gotten sick of waiting around for over a year with absolutely no updates...I've all but totally lost interest at this point, and I never thought I would say that about a new SP album, but enough is enough. I'm not saying we're entitled to know every little development that takes place, but don't build up the album for months, then just drop off the face of the earth for a year and expect us to still be excited about it. It's gotten tiresome.

Ugh...how many times have we been through this same dance now? It's not going to go as planned, and it will be our fault, then Billy will get pissed and tear the whole site down, and a year from now he'll start a new album attached to a new gimmick, just release the album, no bonuses, no trinkets, no websites, no apps, no "free", no "social aspects" (whatever the hell that means), no special release format, just release the good, solid album we all know you're capable of if only you spent half the time in the studio that you do coming up with new marketing techniques.

...and I used to be the positive one on this fucking board!! :banghead:/>
