I found Botanique first, and figured 3 versions was enough to illustrate my point.

Hmm...can't seem to find a video of the Guggenheim version. :earl:/> :nope:/>

??? My knowledge of SP without JC live stuff is extremely limited. But are either of these the show you're talking about?

Wow, wow... just watched 1979 with Kenny from that show. Awful. Forgot quite how much I disliked the live Adore era stuff.

Not sure about the first one, but the 2nd one is from the Intimiate & Interactive they did in Toronto. 2nd set was outdoors.

And then it started raining.

They didn't play To Sheila at the Guggenheim, which might explain why you can't find it. :whattodo:/>

Why the hell would you want live shows on a USB drive and not a disc? That's just stupid

you want something physical or collectible that could be cheap and hold a lot of music.

What people really want is an a cappella version of Zeitgeist, and I am still unsure as to why the fans have been deprived of such a treat as this.

i'm not waiting for anything on a USB drive either.

then i'd rather just download. downloads are also cheap and can hold even more content.

Funny how some people are suggesting that you just release something as a test to see what happens...This is not an experiment, nor is it a charity--it needs to be financially viable to all parties and requires sufficient due diligence.

I think the people who have mentioned this said to put it on a kickstarter-type website so they (SP) don't have have to pay for anything upfront.

I don't understand why anyone would want a USB. They're obviously gonna put it straight on their PC.

Yeah I wondered about the USB thing too. From others that I have talked to, they suggest that it could be used to store the lossless files if they don't have a lot of space on their computer for them and they don't have portable harddrives.

But for me personally, direct download makes more sense.

If they're gonna fork out a few bucks more for each release on a USB, why don't they just buy a 1TB hard drive? I know the answer will be "I don't have X amount of dollars to spend up front :cry:/> ", but I think in the long run their wallet might thank them..

Yes. Although, I get that there could be some costs to even setting it up/figuring out what to put on the kickstarter. But the band wouldn't have to go and make product until the kickstarter "made."

The advantage to the USBs, as I see it, is primarily for the band. It may end up being cheaper and simpler for the band to burn everything to USB and ship it than it is for them to buy/manage the bandwidth and checkout process for all the downloads. Now, if they already have a partnership with Topspin for the downloads, then no, a USB wouldn't seem necessary.

I personally would prefer a download, but if it was better for the band I would buy a USB. I guess I can see why someone would like a USB if they just plain like physical products, but they would be seemingly hard to display.

Anyone who calls it "Pistachio Medley" should be automatically excluded from the SPRC.

p.s. Hell yeah @ the member title for this post number.

You obviously aren't up on modern things. A thumb drive is a great looking way to get music. I said I would pay most for live shows on USB drives and I think most people did too. You will love it when you get yours. The best thing is when you download a file it is on your computer, I can take a USB to my friends house.

If it was autocorrect you'd have ended up with "Proctological Medley".

I have a USB drive. I can copy downloaded files to it. I also have CD-RWs which work just as well. Why do we need Billy to provide us with the hardware? They cost very little, and you'll be able to get a much higher capacity drive than one which will probably only be big enough to fit a single show/release on. Also, how many of the damn things do you want cluttering up the place?

exactly.
selling a usb drive is still selling digital files. but wrapped more expensively. at the same time, one of the benefits of digital files - you don't have to mail them, they can be downloaded immediately - is lost.

you're selling music, not usb drives. i already own all the usb drives i need.

From the way I see it, a large portion of fans want full studio versions of Pastichio Medley songs. I second this, I think it's the best thing that the Lucky 13 team can put out right now.

There's a lot of interest it seems in those songs, but it might be preemptive at this point seeing as we have a Mellon Collie AND a The Aeroplane Flies High reissue coming out this year. Im sure the fan base is bound to get a lot of that in there.

Yeah, I thought the idea was to start with earlier stuff because the idea is to put out stuff that isn't covered with the reissues.

Oh come on. Are you seriously saying you value generic USB sticks in the same way as a complete product that you can display, handle, admire the artwork of, read the lyrics and sleeve notes, and have a physical item that you actually have to load into a machine to listen to? Will you line all your USB sticks up in a rack and take them out every time you want to listen to something? No, you'll copy the files across just like the rest of us, and then they will be packed away and forgotten about.

I have tried to be more careful with my cds over the years, but I recall even seeing scratches on a cd after I played an album for the first time, and I was very careful with it. My cd players must hate me :p/>.

I keep my commemorative USB drives in special USB drive cases. And yes, I bring them out everytime I want to listen to music.
