I dont think the band will play any new songs from Oceania (other than those we've already heard) until the actual tour. He probably wants people to hear the album, and doesn't want boots going around of the majority of the songs.

I meant that in the original post with the setlist above, there was no Today before Starla, no Disarm, no Bowie cover, etc

Edit: XYU???

OH SHIT SON

xyu is gonna be no good unless it is completely rearranged into something that might as well be a different song. billy just doesn't have that kind of energy in him any more.

I think that guy is trolling. Anyway, you need to check this version of XYU:

I wonder if the cello and violin were being played on stage by people, or if they were just a backing track.

That's an excellent version of XYU. Now show me post-reunion billy singing with half as much energy. That's what I was getting at.

Is Black Diamond a Kiss cover, or a new song with the same name?

I love that song. It would be pretty hilarious if the whole band sang the song like Kiss does. I really want to hear the Pumpkins rendition of it.

Jeff's shoegaze pitch bending in 1979 is great. I hope that's all over Oceania.

Pringles, what note are you talking about

that background looks new! Could it be part of the new designed backdrop? It'd be a shame if that was all of it, after all that hype :(/>

Nah, im sure there's quite a bit more too it. Just look at how tiny the stage is. There wasn't room to do anything else. Im sure Billy didn't hire the same guy that did The Wall just for one small screen with a few flashing lights.

I am truly and honestly worried about what this lineup could do to "X.Y.U." I was really hoping Billy had set that one aside.

These songs sound pretty great. Really high energy, Mikey is on top of his game, great backing vocals from Nicole...good times :)/> The return of the e-bow makes me hopeful for Daphene Descends on the Oceania tour.

Hopefully it has the same energy as the sound of silence cover. Sadly I get the feeling it will be more like the recent versions of bodies. Who knows?

This "lineup" is just as capable as any other lineup of the band to musically do justice to X.Y.U. There is zero question about that. The only question is - can Billy deliver on the song vocally?.

That was a really beautiful version of tonight, tonight. I hope he rethinks his plan of only playing Oceania from beginning to end when the tour kicks off.

The Pumpkins normally play nearly two and a half hour shows. Being that Oceania is an hour long, that leaves them with quite a lot of time to play some old hits or obscure songs in the final 90 or so minutes. id actually dig hearing Oceania live in its entirety.

Ya i have no doubt that they can pull off XYU. This band can play ANYTHING. I think they have proved that in recent tours.

I do not hate the idea of playing the album from beginning to end but there is so much good material from their back catalog that it would be a shame not to play them. More often than not they have done a nice job of reinvigorating some of the old songs in creative ways. I will always miss Jimmy's drumming but Jeff's skills on these songs eases some of the loss.
