I had no idea Billy was gonna be on Howard Stern..

Billy Corgan is going into specific detail about the break-ups and problems w/ various #SmashingPumpkins members #H100

Billy Corgan ( @Billy ) doing a killer acoustic version of "Tonight,Tonight" right now on #HowardStern .

They will be replaying it all day I'm sure.

Yea I just heard like 30 mins of the interview... really great interview..talking about the old band...
He said in 1995 during Mellon Collie, James was trying to get his solo album deal going and kept it Quiet from BC all the way through. BC was saying how he would have like to help him and give advice if needed but James never told him anything. Hes about to play Tonight, tonight acoustic but I had to turn it off .. someone upload please!! :)/>

Howard Stern has the best interviews.. They are real

Really interesting, but it does feel like Stern is pushing a bit hard on the personal stuff.

Never really listened much before- we don't get him over here. I'm aware of him, but don't think I've listened to a show properly before.

That was actually an amazing interview! Billy must really like Howard cause some of the stuff he told him was obviously really personal. I have to say I really enjoyed that!

Really great interview. Didn't know that Billy and Jessica broke up. Not the best timing seeing as the entire album is about her.

Agreed that was an amazing interview. Wish they would have talked on Oceania a bit more but I do love the praise for violet rays and it was good to hear some more background on the song. It strikes me a little more now.

Stern is the best

I've been listening to Howard Stern since I was a kid and he's the only person who can get away with that kind of interview. He had Billy a little shaken up about Violet Rays. It was more like two good friends talking. Crazy interview!

Awesome interview. Nice to hear him relaxed, confident and even when he spoke ill it didn't seem unjustified.

So wait, Billy didn't know anything about James Iha's solo album but he premiered them WITH Billy at the Viper Room when Billy premiered the Adore songs?
I think I am missing a step.

I really want to know what was going on in that teepee over at Neil Young's house. Billy, Neil, Robert Downey Jr, and Marilyn Manson all just chillin and...doing God knows what lol.

Anyone who ever says they don't understand why Howard is so successful, or that his only appeal is shock, should listen to an interview like this. Howard is one of the best interviewers alive, I haven't heard Billy this honest and relaxed in years, Howard has that effect on people. This is a great interview.

He said James began to negotiate deals for his solo album during Mellon Collie - so before Adore.

Anyone know how/when the video for this interview will come out?

Very cool I've never heard Billy talk about James' solo album, and always wondered what he thought about it. It must have been a real slap in the face to him seeing that Eric, Greg Leisz, D'arcy, and Matt Walker all played on it and Billy did not even know James was trying to get a deal for it at the time.

Did anyone have any idea this was happening until this morning?

I was driving to work today, listening to Howard as I usually do in the morning, and as they were coming back from break, they were playing Today, which made me think, that's odd, I wonder if Howard knows the new album comes out today, because I know he's a fan, or at least was at some point. Then about a minute later he came back and said Billy was going to be on the show.

Best SP interview I've ever heard. Possibly one of the best music interviews, period.

Say what you want about Howard Stern's shock value stuff, he is a masterful interviewer. Who else could talk so nonchalantly with such a "difficult" personality as Billy. Great work, Billy. Billy doesn't realize that the more he is honest and open the more people will like him.

This has to be the best interview I've heard with Billy this year so far. Had me laughing here and there and some really touching moments and deep thoughts. Nice they played Violet Rays too!

the part where they discuss how Violet Rays relates to his relationship with Jess was particularly touching. he didn't go too in depth about the situation, but the emotion in his voice said a lot. completely changed the way i hear that song. especially the line "am i the only one you see?" lol. thanks, Howard.

You could always start by checking out his movie:

The scene with his wife and the subwoofer is classic.

Great interview. Also of note- it's telling of Howard Stern's influence that Violet Rays is the most popular song on Oceania in the iTunes store.

I can do that. It might be from 1996 instead of 1995. I will find it later this evening.
