Long live 1991.

MTV has released some "Vintage Video" of the young Pumpkins and a fresh faced Nirvana playing a rousing game of CRISCO TWISTER.

QUOTE

Vintage Video: Nirvana & Smashing Pumpkins In ‘Crisco Twister’

Back in ‘91, before all the glitz and graphics and manipulatively salacious voiceovers, all we had at MTV were great bands, board games and a huge amount of lard. That’s no clever wordplay. I literally mean that we had a ton of Crisco on hand. Or so it would seem from the very lo-fi production below, in which Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic strips down to briefs and gets a full body Crisco massage from Kurt Cobain and Dave Grohl, before playing slippery Twister with Smashing Pumpkins.

Billy Corgan has long hair. I forgot that was even possible. Also, pre-peroxide James Iha looks so nervous, it’s amazing he didn’t die. Watch as a very lively (read: alive) Kurt Cobain playfully launches globs of Crisco across the room as a quiet audience inexplicably barely looks up from their beers and cigarettes. It looks like it’s about one in the afternoon. What?! The nineties officially made absolutely no sense.

i can't embed the vid in here but you can watch it above.

I think Nirvana would've ended up like the Who, sellout wise.

not at all. Krist and Dave have admitted that Nirvana was over anyway - the band had been dead but just not publicly announced, the story was breaking around the time kurt died. day before kurt was found NME's front cover was detailing how Nirvana has split

kurt wouldnt of turn out like the who, as kurt said: 'i hope i die before i turn into pete townsend'

Totally surreal. It's weird seeing Billy Corgan and Kurt Cobain on camera together, let alone having James, Dave, D'arcy, and naked Krist there too playing Twister haha.

at least old enough to remember most of 91 go up instead of just 96 go up.

But yes I don't know while some bands have done similar stuff nowadays like all american rejects, there's just something about the 90s that's a lot more "golden" I guess. Maybe because it was the last decade where you could have easily made a controversy still? Individualism was pure? (and I say that word in a non trendy way) ok i'll shut up now

That video just wins. And for the person who mentioned the kurt/billy/courtney triangle. If this is indeed 91 it musta been just before.
