I mean like MCIS. They recorded several basic tracks, specially the rockers, live in the studio for that album. With overdubs added later and all the post-processing you want. But still, you get that feel, you know? If you really are proud of your bandmates skills as musicians, then the live-in-studio tracking would be a great idea. Billy often underestimates James and D'arcy's playing but they were still able to pull it up for Mellon Collie. So that's what I meant, not a stripped-down album, but something with more... BALLS. On the other hand, I think I can't hear Billy's perfectionism on Oceania. -

I would love a live-in-the-studio album, with a good mix and decent mastering. Not another glossy brickwalled mess, we need more BASS and dynamics. -

Big releases on vinyl by major labels such as this one are just considered novelty items given to the vinyl manufacturer who puts in the lowest bid. I doubt EMI or the vinyl manufacturer who did this pressing cares about quality. Clearly whoever would have approved the test pressing for these didn't have a clue. For $70, I was expecting much, much better quality.
Actually, I understand that these new pressings were done at Pallas, which is considered one of the best pressing plants in the world. I think the problem is in the way these were cut. -

How does the vinyl sound? I couldn't find any comments about its sound quality and just got Siamese Dream reissue on vinyl and I really liked it. -
