In Topic: MCIS reissue will be "3 extra cd's of music"

I've been trying to set aside time to look into this but.... So far everything I see on line says all cd players are based on a 44.1kH2 so as far as the current equipment available today there is no advantage to the 96kH2/24 bit.You can't burn 24 bit to an audio cd without converting it to a 16 bit file like an mp3 which suck and defeats the purpose. It seems to be more useful to engineers in the studio than consumers. I have seen cd players that play WAV files. Tascam 200i but I have a call out to my audio guru. I'll post something after I discuss this with him. Your computer is a DAC Digital Audio Converter so you can hook up speakers to your computer but that sucks. You can burn the 24 bit file on a DVD and then play it through your stereo. I think at this time anyone serious about 96/24 do this and play back through a blue-ray player.
I believe the only way to purchase the 96kH2/24 bit file is to bit the bullet and purchase the deluxe $250.00 package from the SP? I could be wrong but I have had nothing but problems with Topspin with ALL the previous re-issues so I may blow that package off and just make the effort to personally pick up the vinyl and cd version at Best Buy. No downloads but it saves me $40.00 because I just purchased a pile of vinyl yesterday during Record Store Day. Don't tell my wife.
Thank you for the great input. I agree with everything above. The most obvious solution is to take the 96/24 files and author them onto DVD and play them via a Blu Ray or DVD-A player. My next question is why don't SP.com just make this a lot easier and provide us a DVD-A or a Blu Ray DVD with the 96/24 tracks already loaded so that we don't have to go through all the gymnastics of creating discs of our own that they could mass produce with ease. I would think they would sell more of these if they arrived in a physical format that most of us could play on our home stereos.

[Uncompressed 96kHz/24bit Audio]
May I ask a dumb question I asked several months ago with the Oceania 96/24 download? As great as it sounds to own these songs in such immaculate 96/24 quality what equipment does anyone on here use to actually reap the benefits of playing back the 96/24 high-fidelity files? I assume that if you don't have a system capable of reproducing the sound you're not hearing any of the benefits. It's difficult to find a good Google article on this. Any advice, help or insight is appreciated.
Thank you.

I assume you had press credentials to be using the DSLR with the crazy lens right? Were you the guy with the like almost foot long white and black lens? I had to sneak my DSLR in :/
Yes, I had press credentials but my lens was all black. A long black and white lens would indicate Canon (that's the Dark side of the force, I'm a Jedi (Nikon) ;-). I assume that was another photographer that you saw but yes, I was lurking around for some good shots.

Here is a 2nd image of the merch stand that I tried to enhance a little, and another photo below of the VIP line after the show was over. (Are any of you in the picture?)

I absolutely love them. Thank you a thousand times for taking them and sharing them afterwards. :flowers:/>
By the way on which song was Nicole playing the mellotron? Just curious...
(And was it a mellotron or a simple keyboard, I can't really tell on your pic).
Sophie!
Your very kind words make my tired eyes feel so much better as I wade through 800 photos from last night...LOL. Thank you to the others also.
Well, I'm going to play dumb here because I honestly cannot remember which song Nicole was playing the keyboard on....I'm hoping someone else at the show can chime in to answer your question. I'm curious now myself since you've asked!
What I can offer you here, is another photo from last night in St Louis of Nicole - this is one of my favorites - this is about 10 seconds before she walked off the stage at the end of the night. Right here she's grabbing her picks before she throws them all into the crowd. Kind of cool to see:
Thanks again!
