What Smashing Pumpkins song from each album should I recommend to my friend to win a bet
13 August 2012 - 10:31 AM
Ok, so I had an argument with a drunk friend the other night because when I said the Smashing Pumpkins were my favourite band she said they were rubbish and they sucked etc and after a bit of arguing it came to light that she had hardly heard any of their material, only a couple of the odd singles here and there including BWBW and Zero and that was about it. So I had a bet with her that if I gave her the name of one Smashing Pumpkins song from each album and she promised to listen to them all the way through a few times that she would not say they sucked any longer and she would in fact become a fan of the band. She promised to be honest.
I havent given her my list yet so I thought I would ask on here in case anyone had any tips on what songs should I give her bearing in my she "doesnt like really heavy rock music or metal" i.e she hated BWBW and Zero which is what she based her whole opinion of the band on so I need some quieter songs i.e Disarm, Galapagos etc
So if you could spare a minute, any tips on what I should give her or what would your list be for a complete newbie to the Smashing Pumpkins? (excluding BWBW and Tonight Tonight as they are the two she has heard)
I was thinking
1. Gish - Rhinocerous
2. Siamese Dream - Disarm
3. Mellon Collie Dawn to Dusk - Galapagos
4. Mellon Collie Twighlight to Starlight - Thirty Three
5. Adore - This was very hard to choose but I went for "Tear" in the end.
6. Machina / Machines of God - Stand Inside your Love
7. Zeitgeist - Bleeding the Orchid
8. Oceania - Violet Rays. -

Does anyone know where I can get a definitive list of Smashing Pumpkins songs
02 June 2012 - 03:01 AM
I am looking for a definitive, complete list of all Smashing Pumpkins songs which have been released to the public. The Netphoria one seemed to have stopped updating when the band split up in 2001. Is there any such list? Sorry to set up a whole post for this but thought it was the best place to start. Any help would be appreciated.
