After growing up with the late eighties popularity of the heavy metal hair band songs of sex, drugs and excess...Hearing the Smashing Pumpkins for the first time was a refreshing change. The Pumpkins were singing about real life, real feelings, things I could actually identify with. I was instantly intrigued by the unique sound. There isn't anything else like it. The elements of airiness...the contrasts of heavy with soft. Billy's voice mirroring the music with vocal abrasiveness and angelic softness... The music is many things to me....An escape...an outlet...a memoir...like catching a whiff of a warm and inviting long lost scent of yesterday once again...lifting my spirit during my down days bringing a smile...an inspiration...Music that can bring about these feelings is the very best in my book...I love the music....Billy you are the Best!
