Why I'm A Fan

I saw the video for 'Today' and thought it was so different and funny. After getting 'Siamese Dream', I played the tape so much it wore out, ha. When I saw the video for 'Tonight, Tonight', I knew this was my band (so to speak). As a fan of sci/fi, b/w and silent movies I was so happy to see this, and a few years earlier I had seen a documentary featuring the original 'A Trip To The Moon' movie. I just think the song and the video hold such poise and charm, so simple yet so full of substance. Right after seeing the video, I raced down to Eaton's dept. store and bought 'Mellon Collie'. (and have been oh so faithful ever since, woo!)

I am a fan of the music, but a bigger fan of the human side of things, the messages given, being creative, wanting to better one's self and others. That it's okay, to be original and natural, to make mistakes and have doubts, to look inside and lead with heart, admit our worts and all. We all can relate to a sadness or loss of some sort, and a wanting of basic happiness and peace...(only love can win)

And I'd like to add something honestly and from the heart. This music save my life. I found someone I could relate to in Billy Corgan. The experiences he went through and how he survived them, yeah, maybe a little battle scarred but still able to plug along (singin' his song!). I never had a positive role model growing up, and Billy just seemed to 'get it', he could speak for me and all the others out there who were abused, abandoned, or hurt in some capacity throughout his or her own life. All the ones that just needed a chance, that just wanted to try and be given the time to shine. And to spin negatives into positives, without fear, doubt, or pain taking the lead. As I get older, I am proud of it; 'cause it's just proof postive that I have survived this world a little bit longer through all that it has thrown at me - a little bit battle scarred but still able to keep plugging along, singing my song (and still forever in love)

Plus, the Pumpkins just plain ROCK!!
