Why I'm A Fan

I first heard Smashing Pumpkins when I was a just child. At the time I didn’t who I was listening to, but something stuck with me- a lyric, a bar of music, a scrap of emotion. These little fragments pressed themselves upon my memory and remained with me as I grew up. Later on I was reintroduced to this music, which I had held in my thoughts for so long, if only in a fractured state. I was finally able to put a name and faces to the band that had drawn me in when I was younger. Since that time I have been a fan of Smashing Pumpkins, enjoying listening to their music. I have grown to appreciate how Corgan juxtaposes artfully crafted lyrics with raw honest emotion. I also admire his ability to paint such a darkly vibrant world through his powerful imagery. To me their music is more than just a tune to entertain, it’s a rich landscape that draws me in every time I pop in a CD. There is honesty in its expression, something rare in so much of today’s music. For these reasons I am a fan and will remain as such for as long as the SP are producing music.
